A exciting yet disappointing result for George Hincapie at the 2001 Paris Roubaix. He could have won it for sure had his team been able to be up front supporting him.
Saw this 2001 race in person. If you love cycling, it is a must trip. Rent a car, get the huge Michelin road atlas and have a plan: you can leapfrog the race and end up seeing it 5-6 times on the day. Wear trail runners because you have to pretty much run from where you're able to park to the viewing spot, then run back to the car after the race has passed through. Repeat until the race is 20k out from Roubaix then duck into some pub, order a beer and watch the finish on TV!
I don't think I could handle being a race director/sportif in the car...you have to have nerves of steel and ice water in your veins to deal with all that craziness and assure your riders they are fine when their lifelong dream is going to pieces. Cool video, thanks for uploading.
@ironmanc5 I think he said: "hij he godverdomme plat ze moet'n muh deur loat'n" , which would translate in english as: "God damn it he's got a flat they have to let me through"
I still think he can win, you gotta have hope, but the odds are long. BMC needs to support him and perhaps Boonen/Devolder's luck with not having mechanicals has run out? Who knows, but I'll be watching.
Once again, George had a lot of bad luck, but also spent energy whinging at 2 Domo riders to help him chase down one of their riders. If he out his head down, he'd probably done better.

What is the driver sayinhg at 5:08
Johan Bruyneel and Dirk Demol the best!
Hincapie´s gonna work for Alessandro Ballan :(
bruyneel is the man!

Poor doper team
museeuw has admitted to doping, but only for 2004 (yeah right!)
Everyone knows the best cycling is in South Eastern Tajikistan!
I don't think so... 4 against 1 in a lead group? You lose!
Hehe
