"Verstaubt sind die Gesichter" is a series about German soldiers in the Second World War made in Germany.
Contents:
Otto and his comrades are on the retreat in June 1944. Adolf Hitler himself has designated Orscha as a permanent place to be held at all costs. The second company is ordered to take a stand and defend the city.
Without a big budget but with a lot of passion and effort we tell the story of the men of the 2nd Company. We refer to read and told experiences to remain as true to history as possible.
This work serves to understand the events of that time and should be a message to the youth, who did not experience a great war and hopefully will never experience it. "Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it."

Ein sehr seltenes Kommentar (man sieht Sie kennen sich in Geschichte aus) das freut mich sehr. Dass es noch Menschen gibt die wissen was Wirklichkeit ist und was vergänglich (unser heutiger Präsident Erdogan).
Möge die neue Regierung nächstes Jahr die historische Freundschaft beider Länder wieder zum blühen bringen.
Mein Opa war einer der „wächter“ der in der Türkei gestrandeten Schwarzmeer Uboot Flotte der Reichsmarine.
Und auch sehr lange mit einem der Kapitäne befreundet (wanderte nach dem Krieg in die Türkei aus).
Leider errinere ich mich nicht mehr an vieles und Die Tagebücher meines Großvaters sind verbrannt.

I just watched a major Hollywood war film this weekend and was appalled. The MP-40s had a cyclic rate of about 700 rounds per minute with 200 round stick mags. There were opposing forces with no cover or concealment blasting away at each from about 50 yards and they did not fall like dominoes as they should have.
With what little ParaLight Worxs has to work with they put Hollywood to shame. Thank You for what you do.

You got me at a disadvantage, whereby you can read English while I can't read Russian, aside from a few words due to my knowledge of the language where Cyrillic originates from. I only made out two-three words. You started by questioning "realistic?" and then expounded upon that. I just don't know what you said. I take it you disagree. I said realistic, in terms how it shows combat conditions, the human condition of the soldier, who and what they are, the time in between each engament and the feel one gets watching some scenes, where one feels almost being there. It is certainly not a sterilized big production, with a almost cartoonish feel. If you disagree, you entitled to your opinion, each person views something through their own eyes and draws different conclusions.

A rough translation of what Andrei wrote is: "
Is this realistic? Germans killing Russians everywhere, but for some reason they retreat. Weird. It’s even more surprising that it doesn’t show how they're defeating the Russians with idiots in charge... How did the Russians manage to hang the red banner over the Reichstag?!"
I think what Andrei's trying to suggest is that the film is rather one-sided, portraying the Russians simply as targets. We get to see into the mind of Otto and feel his anguish as his comrades are needlessly slaughtered, but for the most part the Russian soldiers are just faceless automatons. To some degree I have to agree with him, but it's also thoroughly understandable since the story is told exclusively from the German point of view. The viewer never really gets any sense of the Russians similarly being normal humans, thrust into a horrific and stress-filled environment, watching their friends fall prey the the invading Germans as well. This is, of course, the case with just about any war film -- the troops on "the other side" are always faceless unknowns because the perspective of the protagonist inevitably makes them so.

I now realize the word let its self open to interpretation based on perception and perspective. I did explain briefly what I meant however. Your analysis of the series being one sided is correct. Rare and refreshing I may add, as the German side is usually portraid as fanatical momsterous nazis out for blood. Quite untrue with the a large part of the wehrmacht soldiers. They were just that, soldiers, people, who were tools for the at large apparatus we all know so well. The series shows just that, they were people caught in circumstances that they had to endure and survive. The series has on occasion shown a bit of the Russian/Soviet human side, but yes indeed, it is skewed towards the German side and so it should be.
We can commence analyzing the whole war and how the Russians/Soviets snatched victory from the jaws of defeat which led to the Soviet hammer and sickle flying from the Reischstag. This is not the forum for that however or the premise or does space, time intentions allow for that. I just wanted to say "bravo" to the people who put this series together and I did so with my brief original message. Once again, thanks for the translation and your insight. Die Geschichte, die Effekte, die Kulisse, die Musik, die Kostüme, die cleanen Kamerabewegung, die Darsteller, die Soundqualität, die Helligkeit, die Videoqualität 🤯 Jedesmal denkt man bei euch ihr seid auf dem Höhepunkt, dem Gipfel des möglichen, aber jede weitere Folge zeigt mir sofort, dass ihr bei weitem noch nicht da angekommen seid, wo sich das Ende befindet. Dann noch mit der Endszene, gefühlt auf einmal einen von Marvel produzierten Film gesehen xD. Also wirklich einfach nur noch Respekt und Hut ab für diese Leistung. Hoffentlich erreicht ihr weiterhin viele Menschen mit euren Videos (Episode | mit fast 3 Mio Views), da es auch ein Teil zur Aufklärung beiträgt, mal die deutsche Sicht auf alles zu sehen. A little thing I found interesting about Otto, when we first see him kill a woman in episode 1 he is thrown off by it to the point were he has to verbalise it to his friend. Now in episode 7 when he kills a woman again he doesnt say anything or seem phased by it at all.
We can see how the war has changed him to the point where seeing a woman or even killing one on the battlefield doesnt make him bat an eye. Love that detail.

Bei dem Schuss wird das erhoffte Wunder wohl ausbleiben, zumal da ja auch noch die Sache mit dem Talisman wäre, die auf die unheilvolle Szene vorbereitet hat. :(

I must say guys, this is an acheivement. I’ve seen the rest of the series, as well as some of your standalone productions, and I must say this is the best one yet. The production quality is immensely impressive, as well as the acting and cinematography. The realism and authenticity is also done amazingly. Ich habs nicht verwarten können und musste einfach bezahlen. Holy, ich bin verdammt froh und wurde nicht enttäuscht. Es wird einfach immer gut, auch wenn man es schon weiß wtf. Viele meckern über “bla bla bla”, die Kampfeffekte oder mehr Kunstblut etc. Natürlich kann man es verstehen und es wäre auch der letzte Schlief. Ich weiß wie klein ihr angefangen habt und bin stolz auf dieses Projekt. Für mich ist die Story einfach mehr als gelungen und das macht eine gute Serie aus. Gänsehaut, Danke!

Agreed. The attention to detail in equipment and tactics is first class. Of all the little things I noticed - when they were advancing through the warehouse, the sergeant had his P-38 cocked. Can't count the American films where the guys never cock their pistols. I guess 1911's just magically fire, huh?
