I heard Dianne Reeves' version from a Christmas Carol CD this December. I did some research on You Tube and found this version among others.Her version is very good but this one seems more authentic, moving, plus you can understand the lyrics.

Thank you. The tune could be given a more elaborate treatment but we prefer the straightforward simplicity. The harmonies used here are a very basic I - VII - I, in this case C Bb C.
