That's turbo lag you were experiencing.

I had it as a loaner and liked it a lot. Feels powerful and doesn’t even sound bad. Decent interior. A bit dated but not too bad.

I notice that new cars have such bright lights, great when you're driving them, not so when you cross their path, blind you like a bat.

you should get checked for cataracts if youre getting blinded by glare from oncoming cars. IMO LEDs are a great asset, plus theyre being regulated more now and graded by the IIHS on how much glare they produce -- they can be fantastic bright headlights but if they produce 'excess glare' they get a "poor" rating

@@jakes5530 I do have cataracts, which is why I avoid driving at night, but sometimes you cannot help it. I even got anti-glare glasses which help a bit, but when i get a pickup or SUV behind me, it's blinding light is too high for my lower car.

Can it carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the truck box? That doesn’t have to sit on the wheel well

Not the ranger. Sheet goods will sit on the wheel well. But f150 yes. IMHO doesn’t really matter.

If you dont need the rear seats the "extended cab" version has a 6ft bed if that makes a difference

    • @100RentalCars

Definitely. Although I also really like the Nissan Frontier. Ford and Nissan make drastically different trucks. Nissan puts very little tech in the Frontier, whereas Ford really embraces things like touch screens, ambient lighting controls, etc. Both are great, just different.

Nissan Frontier (D40). New but analog. Everything you need and nothing you don’t. Very reliable and no Toyota tax on MSRP.

Did you ever learn what the words "turbo lag" mean??? Guess not..
It takes a few seconds for a turbo to spool up and shove all the extra air into the engine, to get all the extra power.. Spool up = the turbo wheel needs something to turn it first, so it can then make the air go faster into the engine, so the engine can make more power..So... the turbo wheel gets moving by the exhaust gas that is passing by the side of it, and then it gets going faster and shoves more air into the engine, and that makes it go faster..
How does the turbo wheel get spinning faster by the exhaust gas??? When you push the gas pedal down..
Some vehicles have the turbo purposely sized for the engine so they do indeed spool up faster..
And in case you don't know, this engine is a 4-Cylinder -----
Can't have instant/whole lot of power from a stock 2.3 liter 4 cylinder without a turbo, so you should be glad this one has the turbo even with the little lag from stop..
Oh, did you know these 4wd trucks and probably most trucks are never going to be going a a lot more past 100mph if they even get that high..
A whole other discussion, that you might want to go learn about too..
Sorry you are scared to fast around slight curves, perhaps try to not go fast then???
