@@da82chef 😂 If you were born after 1979 then you were definitely born in the wrong era, but that doesn't stop you appreciating the music of the 60s now! It was the best decade to live through!
Alexandre "Sacha" Distel (29 January 1933 - 22 July 2004). Distel died of cancer at the age of 71 on 22 July 2004. He spoke French, Russian, English, Italian and Hebrew.
Sacha Distel was managed by Claude Wolff, Petula Clark's husband. Being the composer of The Good Life makes upmfor his lacluster Raindrops. He certainly was good looking.
I thought it was just me. I remember this guy's name but never saw him perform. He is truly awful. He keeps looking up, all you see are the whites of his eyes.
@@jv-ep2tcHe was quite well known in France and known for his cool attitude, but here he is obviously very tense and stressed. I think he's having trouble dealing with the pressure of fitting in with the American public.
He was a great jazz musician and a fine singer. He was also very handsome. His eyes suggest a very kind man. (Of course, he could have been a jerk, but his face and manner suggest otherwise.)
He is French, and to me, that was an awesome performance, especially considering he is not a native English speaker... Plus he is speaking english with a good accent please do the same in French Sir...
@@frankbougrasse8047 I could not do this song justice in French or English. His French version of the Bacharach classic is much better than this Sullivan American translation.
Victoria Wood mentioned him in dinnerladies, so here I am, knowing she had a delicious eye for the ridiculous, and boy, did she hit a bullseye with this one.
So smarmy and ridiculous. It's stuff like this that killed the Ed Sullivan Show. On TV since the 1940's, within less than 2 years of this, the show would be cancelled.
Why it's ridiculous because he was French and spoke your language? I'm sure that you are able to speak only english, don't be so rude or jealous Sir...
Talented entertainer with a charming manner, pleasing baritone voice and timeless good looks.
He is so great and so underrated.
Underrated???? No really that dude was soooo big in Europe and France from the Mid 50’s up to the late 70’s , America is a different market
He was so gorgeous and never looked any older, in fact the older he got the more better looking he became! God bless ya Sacha 💕
He is soooo good lookin’!!!
Pleasant voice. Accent. :)
I love 1969
The best year on our lives
And especially The Ed Sullivan Show ❤️
Fantastic
American television 📺 1969 it's great 👍
In his prime he was one of the World's most Beautiful men and I am straight:)
Sure right and Alain Delon.
Wow this man is amazing!! I honestly think I was born during the wrong Era!! This is what music is!! ❤️❤️

It was a big hit for Sacha in the U.K.!
I may like to disagree. Distel's rendition is sweet, lovely. Sorry!
His Impersonation of Chavalier was spot on.
His suit was very cool back then.
my god, he took every ounce of soul-fullness out of BJ Thomas's hit version

HE IS A GOOD SINGER AND DOE'S A PRETTY GOOD IMPRESSION OF SINGER MAURICE CHEVALIER SINGING THE SONG LOUISE
I never heard of him? But, he sure is purdy lol
Now u know 😉
Obviously not his best performance but he did a lot of really good work. I collect his recordings.

Such an odd song to become such a big hit.

Hadn't he been Brigitte Bardot's husband in the early 60'?
No,he wasn't not but had a love affair with
Brigitte Bardot had lot of love affairs and only 3 husbands
No, he had not! They were never married
He was married to Francine, a ski champion, I saw him 7 times in concert, he was amazing.
@@patrickgueguin792 He only had 3 Husbands?

he's better at songwriting

corny no doubt, and I've been listening to it for 48 years. Sounds like a TV show theme song.
