teach them young and they gain a good work ethic..and an understanding of the job.. My Pop started teaching me welding/mechanic work when i was 8 and always loved it
My city owned one of these gems. Before upgrading to a field rig, we used this with a tank on the back. Due to family status, during my city employment, it was handed down to me as a mechanic part truck for city vehicles. We had shifts, but my truck didn't. Came home with me every night, paid for by the tax payers. Unlimited fuel as well. I couldn't complain. Our mechanics kept it running until it's retirement and auction.
I think it was bought from a neighboring company in the 80s when they upgraded to the "water buckets" (tankers)
Great video. I know you tried to hide it but that truck came from the fire district where I live. You gassed her up the first time about 10 minutes from my house. When C & C get's done with it, it will be a truck that anyone would be proud to own. If I knew you were coming I'd have baked a cake. Or at least bought you and the family lunch. Who wouldn't like to have thier very own fire engine, how cool is that. Shame you couldn't get the sirens to work, mind you Kevin would have been pressing that button every 5 minutes, so probably a good thing. Hopefully it went to someone who's going to look after it.🤗👍

Pierce Manufactured the Service Body and Bumper Extention. They would have also installed all the emergency lights and siren. That is a clean truck.

Very nice rig, one big thing I learned when it comes to used fire rigs. Don’t look so much at the miles, look more at the hours. Usually fire rigs will have more hours then miles. She’s a beautiful truck though for its age. Well taken care of.

A “trick the trades” is to filling the fuel faster turn the nozzle on its side (handle at 3 O’clock) works for most utility bed trucks

There are many small town FD that would LOVE to add this to their fleet i bet. We have 2 guys here locally that have similar trucks they use as their construction business trucks.

Pierce is an excellent manufacturer out of Wisconsin, the foot pads are usually for a Q siren, I didn’t see one on the bumper. Great find.

very nice score Clinton. someone took care of that one. a few modern upgrades here and there, somebody is going have themself one helluva sweet service truck/pit truck. she might not get out here on way anytime fast, but she'll get you there without shedding hundreds of pounds via body/frame lightening

Omg Flashback to my first job! We had one of those with a flatbed and spray tank for chemicals for landscaping, we called it the SLED , just keep your foot to the floor to keep it moving
Pass through compartment is set up for 2 tall air bottles laying flat. They are used to refill the small air bottles the firefighters wear on their back.

My very first vehicle in life was a 1987 F-250 Lariat, 6.9, 4 speed, 4x4. I loved that truck and drove it half of 8th grade until I was 20. I sold it to a guy that said he had big plans. Sadly, it’s sitting in the exact same spot that I parked it on his property 17 years ago. It has mulberry trees growing up between box and the cab.
So go buy it back!
@@BFT88 I’ve tried numerous times. It’s too far gone now, the trees have distorted the body enough to break the back window and mice, coons, opossums have it completely destroyed. I have to pass by it a couple of times a month. 😢
A neighbor down the road from me has almost the identical truck. When I used to work at a tire shop the owner bought an F350 dually service truck new same year as yours only it was 2 wheel drive with a standard shift transmission. You are right the 6.9 was gutless but was a trooper. The only problem we had was that if you pulled the cable that drained the water separator it would loose prime and the only way I could get it to prime was to put a Mighty Vac on the shrader valve by the secondary fuel filter

Yeah. They kinda showed where it was from, in the first min. or so. lol. Still doesn't matter. It was supper well taken care of. Fantastic condition for the year. Proof positive. If WELL maintained, age is not too much of a factor.

Little bit of paint and mod it will make a nice serve truck come on hunter it's four wheel drive with a winch all you have to do is pull up to your fishing whole toss the winch out with a net and catch all the fish you need you eaven have a big bumper to sit on while you fish 😂

Pierce Manufacturing makes the fire trucks in Appleton Wi. They make the bodies themselves. I had family working there.
That’s a beauty for sure would make a awesome service truck! Those leese neville alternators really have good output but when they go they are expensive. I’d struggle selling that we have the Ohio weigh reduction program here on our stuff.

Clint that body was most likely custom designed and built by Pierce manufacturing our fire company bought and still buys from them that body alone probably cost fifty grand when that truck was purchased the new ladder they just bought was over a million

Nice looking truck single tank was because it's a fire truck don't need lots of fuel cause they do a fire refill.

That Rad core support for the Mid Side FO-Mo-Co Diesels Was Built at MSI Warren Stamping Warren Mi. Like most thing they were sold out back in 99. If I'm not mistaken they stop making the the Rad core support in 97-98 model year. I worked There from 89-99 before moving on to better thing for my Family. The Last I heard Flex & Gate own what was left.

Pierce Manufacturing is a U.S. company based in Appleton, Wisconsin that manufactures customized fire and rescue apparatus and a wholly owned subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation. Pierce was acquired by Oshkosh in 1996 and is currently the largest fire apparatus company in the US.
It really should go to a volunteer fire department.
These littel townships that have no tax base use there own personal vehicles, this is decked out with all the lights and stuff.
Don't get caught using the lights and siren out in public because its not legal to use them. You can get into serious trouble.

I don't know why Imron paint isn't used more. We painted trucks and equipment with it where I worked and 30 years later it looked the same where the paint on new equipment fades out in 3 or 4 years.

I was thinking this would be the perfect tow vehicle for my toy hauler. Then you got 138 miles on a tank of gas with the truck stripped down. I get 150 miles out of a tank of gas when towing with my old Toyota Tundra, so this would be a step backwards.
I still think the utility body is the perfect fit for towing a travel trailer. The body stores all the stuff a travel trailer tow vehicle needs - sewer hoses, water hoses, electrical cords, wheel chocks, leveling ramps, etc. All it needs is a second fuel tank, as it needs to go farther than 150 miles between fill-ups!
That will make someone a great service truck. God bless
