this week i was on the ellis island site, in memory of one side of the family in the u.s.a. and canda, the scot's side. the irish side came to england and canada, what a great song from the wakes, jim little, bristol.
Fantastic tune.l love that lrish blood,so beautifully wild and unbowed, unbeaten through centuries, surviving the storms and always standing upright, men and women of steel, courage and dignity. An inspiring nation you are.Regards from a supporter.
Great song - was working over in London recently - we don't own the sites anymore but there all still there navvying away - Connie's speaking the Irish among themselves and as still as fucking wild as the rocks of Connaught, boys from Glasgow with Da's and Granda's from Donegal, Cork boys being arrogant as fuck(!), Northern boys being serious, sound as sophisticated! and the odd spivy painter/decorator from inner city Dubin that all the other nationalities think is from Liverpool with his accent
If you know your history you'll see the part we irish played.. Built England's road and railways built the usa made our way to Mexico with the USA army saw the wrongs being committed and formed the san patricio and fought the against America
Reminds me of my Great Grandfather Michael Hartnett, came over with nothing, was discriminated against and had to fight for everything.
