That's exactly what I am going through and I am afraid of putting money on a cheap harp that is too difficult to work with because even the cheap prices are too big an amount to waste!
This harp is now €1000 new but looks like best value for beginners, picking up a used version of this for €600 on Saturday which is a bargain 😁 thanks again for your demo.
Wow! That is a very nice harp! I so much agree with the quest to find affordable but worth it harps for students - and oneself! You are absolutely right that many who would love to learn the harp can not afford an instrument. But this looks and sounds like a real possibility. (I have even considered recommending cardboard harps, of which there are a few. Some not so bad at all.) This, tho, has 36 strings (!) And wow ... it''s lovely. I'm encouraged. And i can't wait to see what you paint on it! My Beloved suggests (he says if you have not already thought of it) tracing outlines of the different parts of the harp you might want to paint on, and then letting yourself doodle and experiment on them. He figures you are already thinking of this, but he is feeling very chatty today. He also said he loved hearing the Game of Thrones theme on this new harp. Not so much because of the series, but because he feels the music holds the essence of "adventure in a worthy cause," and that is something people really need. He said "the inspiration comes through loud and clear on that harp. " I agree. Also, just wanted to mention i love your light sea-blue-green outfit. Somehow it is like something a Mermaid would wear when she felt like saying: "A Mermaid, yes! But I also have legs. That is just how the magic is!" Thank You so Much for this cheerful, hopeful video!
I have looked at these harps and went through a will I/won't I decision time and decided on won't. About 4 years ago I purchased a (Chinese) digital grand piano from Gear4Music. I was not disappointed. It is a lovely instrument to play and look at so very happy with that (piano is my first and main instrument). As far as harps go, I have a small Pakistani built harp (22 string) that I bought second-hand about 12 years ago. The sound's not bad but the levers don't work very well. Sadly, the soundboard is now cracked as is the frame itself. I think I will wait until I can get a decent harp. I've tried a Dusty Strings Ravenna 34 and fell in love with it. Great video to let us know how the cheap harp sounds and thankyou for uploading this video.
Further to my original comment, unfortunately the Ravenna 34 is now well out of my price range having jumped up in price to over £3000. I'm an amateur, self-taught (and not very good) so now seriously looking at Gear4Music's 36 string in black. It sounds really nice and seems to have quite a mellow sound to it. At £849 it's a good price too.

I am very upset with You Tube for putting other video choices in at the end of the video! They are in the way! I can read the pros but not the cons. I can read the conclusion, but Aaargh! I want to know what the cons say too. I come across this problem often in other videos also. Can you let You Tube know this is a bad idea? I don't know how. They could put them in when the video is actually over, PLEASE.

Yes the levers are perfectly adjusted (which was a surprise to me!) - they are a little bit on the hard side compared to my camac levers but no show stopper really! yes the string tension is great, not too light! and yes the instrument has held up perfectly since I bought this! I'm in love, LOVE L O V E with harps ever since i was a little kid. I've tried to quench my thirst for music by playing any kind of instrument i could get my hands on. Thoughout my life I've learned how to play the piano, the guitar , the ukelele and even the violin (although it took me a loong loong time to say that I can play without making people's ears bleed.) And STILL , I havent managed to save money for a harp because I always knew they were too hard to afford and I'd probably need and use the money for something else the moment i got half the amount needed saved up. At least now , i have a chance ! Thank you for letting us know about this manufacturer's existence ! I will try my best and maybe in a year... Who knows !

Well Marianne, from the point of view of someone who's not a harpist, definitely not a perfectionist and about half tone deaf, I thought it sounded pretty good. And $900 US, that's still quite a chunk of change to me. Nice video though! Keep up the great work and stay safe!!!

(i do art. helps to break down projects into simple steps.) and decide on what feel you want to give it. celtic? modern? floral? dragons? if you sort of grab onto a theme, the other decisions come easier, as it is "does this support the vision/idea or no". picking colors is hell for me until i have a theme in mind, as i love a lot of colors/shades. they all sound good. : )

Cela dit pour des budgets très limités, dans la catégorie des 36 cordes avec leviers fonctionnels, je pense que le rapport qualité-prix de cette harpe est imbattable, et à mon agréable surprise, on peut vraiment se faire plaisir avec. Pour ce qui est de l’accordage, j’ai réalisé la vidéo dans les 30 minutes qui ont suivi le déballage du paquet, et clairement les cordes n’étaient pas encore « faites » mais franchement je m’attendais à bien pire point de vue justesse du son! :) Bien sûr ce n’est pas la Rolls Royce de la harpe, mais c’est un instrument très honorable contrairement aux a priori qu’on peut souvent avoir sur ce genre d’instruments.

The way you mention Pakistan is actually not very nice . The quality of a product is what matters. Would you talk like that if the same thing was made in Switzerland for example?????🧐
Sorry in no way did I mean to be unkind to Pakistan, which I respect! I was only referring to a common stereotype prevailing in the professional harpist community, according to which Pakistan made harps are of very low quality. A lot of my videos (including this one) actually intend to break that paradigm and show that there are great Pakistan made harps. I own several of them and I love them which is why I try to promote them in some of my review videos. Without those instruments, which are typically cheaper than those from famous manufacturers, a lot of people would never get a chance to play the harp at all. So they are really worth considering. I really hope my videos encourage aspiring harpists to explore that route, although a majority of professional harpists will vehemently recommend against those instruments.

The way you mention Pakistan is actually not very nice . The quality of a product is what matters. Would you talk like that if the same thing was made in Switzerland for example?????🧐
Sorry in no way did I mean to be unkind to Pakistan, which I respect! I was only referring to a common stereotype prevailing in the professional harpist community, according to which Pakistan made harps are of very low quality. A lot of my videos (including this one) actually intend to break that paradigm and show that there are great Pakistan made harps. I own several of them and I love them which is why I try to promote them in some of my review videos. Without those instruments, which are typically cheaper than those from famous manufacturers, a lot of people would never get a chance to play the harp at all. So they are really worth considering. I really hope my videos encourage aspiring harpists to explore that route, although a majority of professional harpists will vehemently recommend against those instruments.
