I love Lenore Kasdorf as Rita. So beautiful and talented. I think she maybe one of the most beautiful women in the world. Love her! And the budding romance between Alan and Hope is incredible!! Love them together.
Years ago I saw a profile picture of the late actress Ann Sheridan and Elvira Rousell has a very similar look of Ann Sheridan. I liked her the Hope Bauer character and Ms Rousell’s portrayal of Hope
I remember when Alan and Hope were on the island, Alan presented Hope with a gift. He wrapped it in a large Palm leaf. When Hope opened it, it was a comb that he carved out of a coconut shell. She accepted that comb as if it was a Tiffany's diamond necklace in a Platinum setting. She kept that comb when they returned. Awwwwww!!!😊
OMG, When I first saw this new opening with the slow movement of the leaves and the new music, it scared the hell out of me. I was used to seeing the beautiful lighthouse and hearing the theme from that time. The switch was very jarring to me. But I am so used to it now.
Wow! Can you imagine all of these episodes from 1975 to 1981, full-length, with original commercials available for purchase via DVD or downloads? That would've been as big as the release of Michael Jackson's "Thriller " album.
Speaking of Michael Jackson did you know that Phillip Spaulding found out about his "True" Parentage on Michael's 25th Birthday. I told UK Soap Fans about how his Music was played on so many Soaps from Another World and All My Children. I also told them about how some Soap Actors made Cameo apperances in Videos and each year Last Xmas by George Michael is played.
I love Lenore Kasdorf's hair like this, sort of casual-messy (a perm, I'm guessing?). A nice change from the feathered, Farrah-Fawcett-inspired styles that everyone else seemed to have in the late '70s.
The set designers and my mom probably shopped at the same stores. Because the sheet set on Ed and Rita's bed in this episode my mom had as well. This is crazy.
@@charlenebartlett2995 Yes, she is. I remember seeing her on an episode of Coach, she was playing Craig T. Nelson 's character's voice ex wife, and she was funny.
OMG! I am watching the conversation between Sara and Rita. As Sara is explaining to Rita that she is a Licensed Sex Therapist, Lenore Kasdorf got this wicked smile on her face, and Millette Alexander is trying to keep a straight face as she is explaining it. Am I imagining that? It is funny to watch. I know they are outtakes of this scene.
Chris Bernau, to me, was the one and only Alan Spaulding. No other actor came close. I couldn't get into the character anymore. When " Alexandra" came on board it helped divert away from a different Alan character. Beverlee McKinney (sp) was incredible!! So sad she's gone as well.
IKR? The whole stranded Beachcomber look is hot. Even Hope is giving in. Oops!, she did. She let him have it on the beach, a la "From Here to Eternity."
Yes, he does. I'm loving his "Beachcomber Bill" look. And any man who would carve a comb out of a coconut shell to keep your hair tight. That's a keeper. LOL
Alan was so much "Damaged" Goods and nobody knew about it at the time. He had no idea how much it affected the folks in his life in the future. His Wives, and Children.
unfortunately many of the most important core characters were written out around 1981. that was the downfall of the show in my opinion because it became such a 'teen soap' to compete w/the likes and luke and laura.
I feel so bad for Rita. Ed is investing so much time in Holly and the besotted Lainie. He is neglecting his wife, and her needs at home. He's harboring some resentment towards Rita. He's totally forgotten what Holly has done to him in the past.
I agree. He's supposed to be spontaneous being an artist. Amanda exhibited spontaneity, and he acted embarrassed. What does she see in him? Was not a thing wrong with her ex, Gorgeous Gordon.
Ed put Holly on a pedestal and would forgive her for anything. He never treated Rita as well. Blake was Rogers child and Rita shouldn't have had to take care of her. Hollys morher should have
How many people out there think that the GUIDING LIGHT has some of the best character dialogue exchanges of any soap opera?
Me!!
Yes they do!
Most definitely, Guided Light had the best characters and storylines! Especially from 1977-1983.
Guiding Light was so good! To me it was like visiting an old friend. Loved the intricate relationships. Classic GL was untouchable.
@@tom-ks6hz I concur. My Forever Soap Opera.
I miss it so.
RIP Christopher Bernau (2 June 1940 - 14 June 1989). You were a phenomenal actor in every regard.
Yes, Chris Bernau was an excellent actor!! He was the original and best Alan Spaulding on GL.
I love Lenore Kasdorf as Rita. So beautiful and talented. I think she maybe one of the most beautiful women in the world. Love her! And the budding romance between Alan and Hope is incredible!! Love them together.

General Hospital may have been the darling little lamb at the time, but Guiding Light is the G.O.A.T.S., (Greatest of All Time Soap!)
Totally agree.

new music, it scared the hell out of me. I was used to seeing the beautiful lighthouse and hearing the theme from that time. The switch was very jarring to me. But I am so used to it now.
The best Alan ever.,
YOU SAID IT!
RIP Christopher Bernau (2 June 1940 - 14 June 1989). You were a phenomenal actor in every regard.
So true. Ron Raines did his best in the recast but Chris was the best.

I'm salivating at the thought. That would be awesome. Up until 1982 would be even better, to round-out the Douglas Marland years.
SoapsNthings That'll work! Binge watch hell! I would've o.d.'d on these amazing classic episodes.
Speaking of Michael Jackson did you know that Phillip Spaulding found out about his "True" Parentage on Michael's 25th Birthday. I would be beside myself!!
@adriannegrillo8394 So would I. This is my favorite soap. I would binge-watch every single episode. Like Motel 6, I will leave the "Light" on!
Damn, when Amanda played that beautiful piece, love flowed from her fingers. It was played with so much passion. You got it bad, girl. lol
When Amanda started banging on them piano keys while playing, that was like an eargasm. She loves her some Ben. OMG!
I love Lenore Kasdorf's hair like this, sort of casual-messy (a perm, I'm guessing?). A nice change from the feathered, Farrah-Fawcett-inspired styles that everyone else seemed to have in the late '70s.
She has the pin-up girl hair style women wore back in the 1940's. Like the beautiful actress at the time, Gene Tierney.
You can see how naturally pretty Hope is without the heavy 1970s makeup.
I did notice the heavy blush and lip gloss on the ladies.
The set designers and my mom probably shopped at the same stores. Because the sheet set on Ed and Rita's bed in this episode my mom had as well. This is crazy.
Real dialogue. Love the pacing.
Shoot, take me to lunch Ross. I love Lobster Thermidor. LOL
OMG! That look on Rita's face when Ed is rattling that newspaper to read is hilarical. LMAO 😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lenore Kasdorf as Rita was a good actress

I'll bet they were cracking up because suddenly, Sara became a sex therapist! That alone.....
Chris Bernau, to me, was the one and only Alan Spaulding. No other actor came close. I couldn't get into the character anymore. When " Alexandra" came on board it helped divert away from a different Alan character. Beverlee McKinney (sp) was incredible!! So sad she's gone as well.
Chris Bernau was so handsome. And that beard made him even sexier
IKR? The whole stranded Beachcomber look is hot. Even Hope is giving in. Oops!, she did. She let him have it on the beach, a la "From Here to Eternity."
Little does she know.
There is no spark between Ed and
Rita. That's why their marriage isn't working. Alan and Rita wasted no time.
Does anyone here think that Christopher Bernau looks like his successor Ron Raines with the mustache and beard?
Yes, he does. I'm loving his "Beachcomber Bill" look. And any man who would carve a comb out of a coconut shell to keep your hair tight. That's a keeper. LOL
Alan was so much "Damaged" Goods and nobody knew about it at the time. He had no idea how much it affected the folks in his life in the future. His Wives, and Children.
I think that 85% of these characters are a Hot Mess. Lots of backstories here. Lol
That Alan was such a scoundrel! I'm beginning to think that he didn't like women. All of his issues seem to stem from women.
unfortunately many of the most important core characters were written out around 1981. that was the downfall of the show in my opinion because it became such a 'teen soap' to compete w/the likes and luke and laura.
General Hospital had a bad effect on other soaps.
I never watched it. My younger sisters did. I remember when GL won the well-deserved Daytime Emmy Award, they were uhhhhhpset. I wasn't. Lol
Agreed!!
I feel so bad for Rita. Ed is investing so much time in Holly and the besotted Lainie. He is neglecting his wife, and her needs at home. He's harboring some resentment towards Rita. He's totally forgotten what Holly has done to him in the past.
Is Amanda actually playing the piano? It could be Millette Alexander/Sara. She's an accomplished, classically trained concert pianist.
This episode aired the day after I was born.
which is exactly the day I was born. peace, bro. Happy Birthday! :)
WOW!!!👍
Definitely agree!
Guiding is the orginal Maury. You never knew who the baby daddy was
☀️☀️🥧😃🇺🇸🎈
Looking at Ben's reaction to Amanda when she went to play, for him, and considering he was an artist, I find his behavior shameful.
I agree. He's supposed to be spontaneous being an artist. Amanda exhibited spontaneity, and he acted embarrassed. What does she see in him? Was not a thing wrong with her ex, Gorgeous Gordon.
I missed quite a few episodes during this time unfortunately. Why did Evie file for divorce? Anyone out there?
Ed put Holly on a pedestal and would forgive her for anything. He never treated Rita as well. Blake was Rogers child and Rita shouldn't have had to take care of her. Hollys morher should have
Desperate Amanda.
