- How do you use ellipses to draw different objects? In this video, I show exactly that for watches.

I’m always amazed by your skill as a technical artist. And yes, more tutorials on ellipses would be great.
Thank you my firend! I shall do so!
your tutorials and various videos on the process and technical aspects are honestly the best I've found on youtube. After watching all your tutorials I finally had a much better understanding and i've since been going back through Scott Robertson's book, and it makes a lot more sense and is much more digestible (but still difficult as hell).
Thank you very much for that kind comment. This is exactly why I make these videos!
It’s really interesting to see the construction happening. I used to hate construction. I thought it got in my way. But, I get in my own way without it! The more I do it the more, I understand the purpose of it. Thanks for the video!
I think I totally understand you. When I was younger I hated construction because I couldn't wait to tell my story, and construction was so annoying and boring. Now I am on the other side of the problem where I really like constructing and very quickly I feel like ok I did enough and to me, it's clear what this is supposed to be and don't wanna detail and render my drawing. Which is also not good XD
@@robertlkiss I will get there with practice. At least now I can predict where a person is going to go with their construction lines before they put pen to paper. Not all the time, but, some of the time.
Super inspiring and fun to learn sketching while binge-watching this playlist 🤠 Great playlist wish to see more designs & sketches🤖
Thanks mate, and yeah definitely will add more to it ;)
That looks awesome 😍
Thank you!
Love your demo! Very nice drawing tips! Eventhough I took drafting and Autocad in college, I'd still like to see your elliptical video. Thanks 😊
it's old and bad but maybe you will learn something ^_^

James S. A. Corey Expanse, brilliant
Jól sikerült kis rajz.Szerintem mindenki nevében megköszönhetem, hogy megosztottad velünk. :)
Koszi a kedves hozzaszolast
damn you are very good at freehand ellipses
Thank you!
What drawing tool are you using? What do you recommend me to use if I wanna replicate similar line quality? Forgive me if I didn't catch the information within the video.
I use the cheapest fine liners I can find in my local supermarket, and Winsor and Newton Promarkers for pre sketching and shading afterward.
Well, THAT is definitely a good book, Leviathans Fall will finally be released this year :)
I can't wait for it! Love this series so much!
Oh God it took me more then 3 hours to draw a watch that you made in 5 mints 😢
But yours teachings skills are very understandable and detailed... 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks, don't rush it you will get faster with time!
Yes yes!! Thank you
Amazing 😮
Nice 🤓 How would you do the construction for extra crown wheels not at 90° ? Also, is it possible to reverse-construct a box from an ellipse to add other details ( rather than the typical constructing an ellipse from a box? ) Thanks man!
Omg don't even get me started on crown wheels and cogwheels in perspective XD During my engineering studies, I learned how to draw them precisely with mathematical calculations and whatnot, I do not remember and I do not care to put that much effort into drawing them super correctly(I think one drawing of a cogwheel took up between 1-2 hours).
And yes it is possible to do that, but I am doing it out of feeling, I will have to look up what the methodology is behind it, and I'll include it in a video as well.
@@robertlkiss Hahaha! I can believe it took that long😅👍🏻 Oh great thank you, that would be amazing, because sometimes you might start a sketch with an ellipse, and it is looking great, but then, to add other elements off of that ellipse becomes tricky and the perspective is lost, because there was no original 'frame' or box set up to draw the ellipse to work from. Looking forward to it!! Love your stuff man :)
Incredibly helpfull as always tbh. Did you think of a video about drawing gears using ellipses? I find them a little bit more complicated to draw well because of the amount of parallel lines.
I Remember for our mechanisms course in uni we had to draw a cogwheel by using the formulas to calculate all the angles and everything that was a nightmare. Not sure I wanna relive that, but a simpler version with approximation and just freehand ellipses might not be a bad idea.
@@robertlkiss Yeah, i understand. I think that some mistakes are less visible when drawing things like anatomy etc. which is not that 'technical' and that's why we can still achieve good results even by doing loose sketches of this kind of things. It is different with the wheels or gears, where there is a lot of parallel lines, equal angles etc. and it means any mistakes will be more visible. Thank you for the answer.
We want part 2 of eclipses.
I shall oblige :)
What markers are you using in this video? not necessarily the brand but if they're normal or copics or what because I've seen it in other videos and other people using it and looks very cool for the sketch section
Just normal alcohol markers like Copic ones. Here I use pro markers but I also have Stylefile, Touch, Arteza, Motika, and all sorts of other markers. Basically, I go for everything that's cheaper than copics :) Ain't nobody got money for copics.
@@robertlkiss Thank you for the answer, it helped a lot since I was wondering how everyone could afford copics, I though they alcohol markers were brand exclusive and that's why they were so expensive I never noticed that the witheboard markers were also alcohol based, but now it seems like it's just the quality that changes in copics and there's alternatives still looking good.
@@Boyotheboy I found very cheap supermarket alternatives as well called Twinmarkers, the quality is not cmparable but they get the job done as well. You should look around your local convenience stores that have art/school supplies.
how do you get this nice overhead lighting? its like your drawings are glowing
@@Nicole-gm4rk Razer Kiyo streaming Webcam, it has a built in ring light. Plus I also had a strip of Led light during that set up.
you are the best
Thanks
Hello.... Can you recommend any book directed towards industrial design sketching? And how do you go about body sculpting when designing your own vehicle??
I would say take a look at Sketching from Koos Essen. As for car design I suggest you take a look at Berk Kaplan he has a lot of videos on car design.
Do the elipses have gerbil tech?
Nope!
do you do mentorships?
I have a top patreon tear where I give personal feedback, but I don't have a mentorship course set up
Great mate!
Your drawing is really good btw are you work in a company or freelance?
Thanks, and I work freelance.
Hey man, have you tried the new software -mental canvas- any thought, big fan ❤✌
I have not seen it yet, but it looks pretty cool, like the blender grease pencil tool. But I checked out the cost and it is extremely expensive, so I will not try it out especially since the promo-free version is also time limited.
Great drawing!
I’m now totaling 4exp with ellipses lol
There you good soon you can level up and spend your skill points and perk points on advanced ellipses ;)
In this video what is marker?
I think it's promarkers
What pen were you using?
Cheap local fine liner you can get at the Hema store.
@@robertlkiss thanks man!
hello good job please i want a tutoriel with explication if is possible tank you ! sorry for my english i m from france
I have several tutorials on ellipses if that is what you are asking for:
th-cam.com/video/0WR5pKhJU0Q/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/mjTh9tDFXOU/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/Voyresa2Y1c/w-d-xo.html
Do you have a book of yours for sale
No I do not, maybe I'm the future :)
No offense but when I try your tutorials I become mentally unstable
Oh no, I really don't wanna have that effect on people. Tell me what was confusing and unclear so I can keep that in mind for future tutorial videos.
