I'm blown away. Your presentation is excellent. I shared this with my cohort , introducing your video with " A well spent 24 minutes for the artist, gardener, historian, and social activist. There's a little philosophical something in here for everyone and a lot for everyone's soul."
Wow, this video was beautifully done! Historical, educational, beautiful, relevant, engaging....I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to see more public gardens from you. Thank you for all the time you've taken to create this video!
I would love for Siloe to tour Chanticleer in PA. Such a gorgeous public garden that I have never visited in person. They employ various ironworkers, carpenters, etc., that I think he would really appreciate.
This probably sounds silly, but I have been saving this video for after Christmas, and after I have taken down all the pretty decorations when my seasonal depression is that it's worse. This just made my new year so much brighter! As always, beautifully done. Thank you so so much for all your hard work.
Great new format in visiting gardens and I believe many would enjoy seeing more of this. My take on this was you explaining to people the thought behind garden design and how even the grandest ideas can be brought home in scale to their own smaller yards. With the detail you present I agree you could easily be a HGTV program.
Your treatment of the history of this iconic garden made the video so much more provocative and enriching than a simple walk-through. I'll never view Central Park and cottage gardens in the same way again. Of course, I'd love to see more videos like this. ~ Lisa P.S. The videography was superb.
I really enjoy the comprehensive breakdown of three dimensional space. It’s difficult to describe plants and spaces through media and film/pictures, but the use of graphics really help shape the space you’re referring to.
I`ve been watching lots of garden programs on TH-cam and TV, but non of the programs holds this high quality. It`s just fantastic what you`re doing!!! Love from Norway🌻🌻🌻
So wonderful to see a video from you again. I do love this format. The way you explain things and tell a story about a place is just just wonderful to me. Thank you so much for doing this and I would love to see you do another Garden. Mostly because I’d never be able to go and see a place like that and it’s nice to have somebody show that to me in such a special way.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your artist's perspective to help me see things a different way or to understand why it all works together so beautifully
Fantastic video! I love how you discussed the cottage garden. I especially love how you draw it out for us to see. You are an amazing gardener, story teller, and videographer. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!
A beautifully put together video and I love that you did research to learn what and who was there before. I also really enjoyed learning about the golden bowl effect. This has been a type of garden that I've been yearning for for a very long time, but didn't know it was called that! I'm glad I have the term now, so I can use it when needing to describe garden goals. Speaking of gold, I'm glad they planted goldenrod! It's extremely important for monarch butterflies as well as other butterflies, too, this time of year and in Autumn, when less is blooming. Monarchs need that extra nectar boost before they migrate for the winter. Also, your art is stunning. Happy gardening!🌻🌿🌹🐞🐝🐛🦋
I’m glad you appreciated the history park. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just not being too niche. But yes they had several native plants featured in there including milkweed. I was impressed.
@@suburbanhomestead I definitely think what you want to do a video about is what you should do. I really enjoyed this format, but definitely don’t feel pinned down to it either. It clearly takes lots of research, editing, artwork renders, filming, and all the elements put into it are done very well. But when you put a video out, I know it is one I want to see! 🙂
I am very pleased your videos have returned. You were missed! Yes, this was a lovely format and your sleuthing out the history of the former residents and theory behind the parks development was very enjoyable. There is a wealth of information in this video and hopefully I can use this in my garden. Thank you for your efforts.
Great video. I work at the Met and was so happy to see this as I modeled my garden on the Shakespeare garden years 25 years ago and every time I'm in it now, I think of it and it's plants. It's a great teacher. I once saw a baby owl there in the evergreens.
Brilliant, Siloe! I lived in NYC for 35 years, left there 10 years ago; this was especially enjoyable as I knew where you were! After I moved to Brooklyn, I'd spend many Sunday afternoons at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a fabulous place--not as big as NY Botanical Garden but a real gem. Perhaps you will visit there some day. I would love to see more videos like this one. I hope you had many wonderful hours at the MMA, what a vast place.
Bernard, I’m glad to hear you still enjoyed the video even though you already knew the space really well. I’ll have to visit the Brooklyn botanical garden someday.
I love the video and explanations, it gave me lots of ideas for my own garden! The format is engaging and a great way to teach your subject. Would love to see one for a formal garden. Thank you!
I feel fortunate to live in Montreal where we have our own Olmstead designed park. Mount Royal Park was where my gran took me to feed the ducks and it is also where the family plot is so when I go to pay respects to them I feel surrounded by the beauty of nature. Thank you for the tour, I haven't been in Central Park for about 10 years and I feel like it's time to visit again and tour the Highline for the first time.
Excellent video! I've watched other videos about garden design, but your graphics really helped to demonstrate the principles for me. I'd be willing to bet that most city parks are on land that was't considered buildable. In my community we have a great public park because a family donated some of their land. It is also in a flood plain.
Your videos should be included in the Master Class series...at least. They are tour de force jewels of amazing quality. I can't believe how much information and demonstration you include. Simply masterful!
This is easily the best and most interesting video about gardening I hace seen. So much information, yet all relevant and easy to understand! Please, keep this kind of videos coming! Thank you for taking us on a beautiful stroll with you
Thank you for your mention of Seneca Village. I love your fair and detailed reviews of gardening possibilities! I would love it if you visited more gardens all around the world! Thank you for such an excellent channel. I look forward to your videos all of the time.
As always, your storytelling is a balm for the senses in a ln in-your-face society. I think you outdid yourself, also with the editing. Agree that youre more than ready for bigger audiences, if you desire it. The location! I spend a lot of time in and around this area. Would happily send you pics from the other seasons. If I don't have them, I'll take them.
I can really see how much effort you put in your videos. I would like to know how you edit them! Very very informative too. It feels illegal that these videos are all free. 2yrs subscriber here ✨
Thanks. I feel this video may have been too technical for the taste of the majority so I probably lost their interest but I’m glad you found the more in depth information rewarding. I don’t think it will have as wide of an appeal as some other videos I published in the past but I hope it reaches those who seek this type of thing. Thank you for watching
I would absolutely be interested in seeing your artists perspective on the many different types of gardens that people enjoy, though the cottage garden is one of my favorites!
Yes, yes, yes - please do more of this type! This was expertly done, beautiful to watch and enjoyed your narration. Just left New York a week ago, visited Central Park many times over the years - but hope to go back with more knowledge about the planning & design. Hurrah young man❤😊!
This video was excellent! I am learning so much through your artistic lens. I appreciate the explanation of WHY it works to help me to apply this to our property. So much to learn and implement!
I have missed your videos. This is so fabulous!! You bring information to gardening that no one else does. Your knowledge of art brings a fresh perspective to gardening. I absolutely LOVE your videos.
I love what Central Park is today, but thank you for also covering the history of Seneca Village. You can imagine the effect that had on people's lives when the creation of Central Park forcibly displaced the people living there, especially a pre-Civil War Black community.
What a beautiful video! Lots of research, which you always do so well. I have been to Central Park several times a number of years ago (when I lived in Brooklyn, NY for a summer), but since it is such a big park I had never seen this cottage garden. Beautiful!
Once again you touched on all the notes that I love, gardens, history, beautifully displayed videos of flower gardens, script that invites you to read, your garden is in Maryland where I live as well, English gardens, Germans and our past. So many things to love. Don't sell out to HGTV. You don't need them. Stay independent! You are unique and I would love to see you stay that way. I wish you uploaded more videos, but with the time you give each one, I truly understand. Already looking forward to your next one!
Bravo! Wonderful review and details!! @19:01 the low hedge is Clematis virginiana or Woodbine, a native of central and eastern United States and Canada, is a woody, perennial vine in the Ranunculaceae (buttercup) family.
Thanks for creating this video - I look forward to whatever you produce next! I did love the analysis of the Shakespeare Garden and would love to see other gardens that inspire you.
There is a park in Spokane, WA that was designed by Olmstead (Manito Park) that is just as amazing with the same principles that you mentioned. As everyone is saying, your storytelling and video editing are amazing. Bravo and Thank YOU! 👏💫
I appreciate and look forward to every one of your videos! The knowledge you share with us in such a vast array of subject matters is truly awe inspiring. Every new way you come up with to express yourself and entertain us while also informing us is so cool to witness, I love seeing all the different videos you put out, new and old. My spouse and I are always talking up your many talents as we watch, we love it! Thank you for sharing your perspectives with the world, we're very lucky :)
This was masterfully done! Compelling, educational, beautiful. My perspective has been totally shifted and I learned so much. Thanks for such careful and thoughtful work.
I loved this! Your videos are always on point, but this was a lot of fun to see the analysis of another garden, within one of the biggest city parks in the world. I also found the bit where you did research at the Library of Congress interesting. I once spent a summer there doing research. So this video must have taken at least 2 trips, one to NYC and one of DC. I’d love to see more videos like these as special events, though I’d also still do the style you are doing for the main content.
Thanks for letting me know. And yes it took 2 trips. The library of congress is now my favorite spot in DC. I wanted to see if this format is wanted by the public to have them every so often so thanks for the feedback.
Thank you for your fanastic video of the park and seeing your garden..had always enjoyed the video,s of your garden.A few years back a friend of mine from here in Australia stayed in an apartment over looking the park .She often sent me postcards from her trips and she send one with 4 views of the of the park .It was so good in your video too see it's history really enjoyed that . I love my cottage garden and veggie patch areas and fruit trees . I had too start again as moved 5 and a half years ago . Lots of plants and cuttings came with me and most of my roses as my ex didn't like roses and said of course you can have them and you bought them . We did stay friends. We had worked in that garden and made a,secret garden . Cottage garden and flowers ,roses ,fruit trees ,bulbs and some veggies . Sadly my ex partner died after a,return battle of cancer . House got sold and the next owner an inverter just cleaned all the whole garden out all those mature fruit trees too . The best apricots I,d ever eaten . I cried for 2 weeks and was so thankful that I had this garden that I,ve added too here . Back too the roses....Over 6 mths I went too dig up the roses and replant here .Not an easy task as,I have MS . Most of them survived and grew much bigger in the volcanic soil . Lovely vases of flowers in the house through the spring summer and autumn . Dahlias grow so well too and gladies considering the vast difference in temps in the summer . Lucky have plenty water here on the farm I rent from family . Today while out front of the house planting a small turkey fig tree out near front veggie patch ,there about 6 older and cows in front paddock came up too check out what I was doing .One big cream cow came literly bouncing up too the fence ..Oh it was so funny was so thankful there was a fence between us . They all just stood there and I chatted too them. Made my day . Oh and yes would be lovely too see other gardens always inspiring and maybe get some new ideas .
Wow Siloe! Congratulations 👏 You never cease to amaze me with your talent and knowledge. I enjoy this format especially how you incorporated the historial aspect of the garden and city. I’m looking forward to your next masterpiece!
I’ve watched your cottage garden series of videos a number of times and am truly inspired by them. I think that I’ve now learned sufficient to feel confident enough to start planting! I’m UK south zone 8.
Absolutely lovely, as always. You put so much hard work and creativity into every video, not to mention the epic work on your own garden. It's truly impressive. Thank you so much for doing it!
I loved your field trip to view the historic maps of the Central Park area, and how you integrated the story of how that area evolved into your presentation. Some of the images that you include are so interesting, and yet you only flash them on the screen for a split second. Maybe you could slow that pace down a bit, to give us a chance to really take them in? Yes, I would like to see more public gardens analyzed, as well as seeing updates on your own garden.
I truly enjoy your videos and knowledge. Thank you for sharing with us. I learn so much and it always motivates me to get out in my own garden! This video its me FAVORITE so far!
Never been to CP, but I love your CG , and the one you made for your mother's yard, so beautiful, it takes awhile to plant all this I'm working on it while fighting tough weeds and drought here in far northern CA
So very excited to watch your video. Love love your creative beautiful approach to filming and the time you put into each video you allow us to enjoy! I await more with excited anticipation.
Thank you so much for not only doing an amazing and captivating analysis of this cottage garden, but also acknowledging the gentrification behind central park.
WOW! This is really cool! I love how you turned it into a lesson as well as sharing the beauty. I'd love to see a follow up of this garden in the spring. Certainly seeing other gardens (as well as your own) to share those lessons is always welcome. Your explanation of the golden bowl helped me understand a vague idea I had been playing with in my head for one part of my yard. Now, I know the direction to take. Thanks!
Thanks so much for your well researched, and exquisitely presented video. I know I will watch again to digest all this info. On a different (wishful) note: I can't wait for Los Angeles to get its own Central Park when the oil fields close down. I'm already thoroughly enjoying the surround of parks. And on an ongoing other note: I'm still developing my front and back yards in mid-city Los Angeles - observing the plants through the seasons, learning, and glad to take notes from your videos. Thanks again!
Wow! So much inspirations, education, and sense of simple joy in one video. I was feeling a bit guilty for spending my money and time for gardening and questioning myself if it was worth it. But, I just found the answer… hell yes! Because what else? Gardening makes me happiest and grounded. Most rewarding thing I can do for myself and others!
This was really cool! Thank you! I would also love to see month by month or maybe season by season tours of your home garden! I feel like in every video it looks so different, I'm amazed!
Well Siloe… that was just wonderful. Your garden at home is feeling so full and whimsical. I’m so glad I found your channel, you made the world better just by sharing.. a nice lesson for us all.
this was a wonderful and very informative video!!! you have inspired me. i plan on reading and researching a ton over the winter to learn what plants i can start for my own cottage garden in the spring! also! i too am an artist and painter and i never realised how well art theory can apply to gardening!!! thank you you much again! (and amazing editing as always. :) )
Blown away by the knowledge and editing. You could honestly use this as a pilot to push for your own show on HGTV lol, I'd watch it!
Thank you so much for the great compliment. Let’s see if there is enough interest with this approach to warrant other visits like this one.
Please continue…this was amazing!
Hear hear! 🎉
Yes, the video is excellent.
I totally agree, the knowledge, the storytelling, the editing, all absolutely amazing. What production value!!!!
Thank you for being a garden artist. No one else approaches gardening like you do and it makes it so relatable and enjoyable. 🌿
Thank you for valuing this perspective.
I concur, you need to have your own educational show. Your wonderful, magical, fascinating videos should be on PBS! More please.😊
I'm blown away. Your presentation is excellent. I shared this with my cohort , introducing your video with " A well spent 24 minutes for the artist, gardener, historian, and social activist. There's a little philosophical something in here for everyone and a lot for everyone's soul."
I’m so happy to hear that! Thanks for sharing.
Truly, it is! 👏🏼
Wow, this video was beautifully done! Historical, educational, beautiful, relevant, engaging....I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to see more public gardens from you. Thank you for all the time you've taken to create this video!
Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for the feedback!
Thanks my friend. I hoped this would be the differential for this approach.
Your treatment of the history of this iconic garden made the video so much more provocative and enriching than a simple walk-through. I'll never view Central Park and cottage gardens in the same way again. Of course, I'd love to see more videos like this. ~ Lisa
P.S. The videography was superb.
I really enjoy the comprehensive breakdown of three dimensional space. It’s difficult to describe plants and spaces through media and film/pictures, but the use of graphics really help shape the space you’re referring to.
Glad to hear you value that. That is precisely the reason why I chose to use graphics for conveying this idea.
Well-researched and excellent explanations of the cottage garden through artist’s eyes. Thank you!
I hope it helped you see your space in a different way as well and gave you ideas.
I`ve been watching lots of garden programs on TH-cam and TV, but non of the programs holds this high quality. It`s just fantastic what you`re doing!!! Love from Norway🌻🌻🌻

Thanks for the kind words.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your artist's perspective to help me see things a different way or to understand why it all works together so beautifully
I’m glad you have found this approach helpful. Thanks for letting me know.
I'm absolutely spellbound, Siloe. Nothing escapes your designer eye, thanks for opening ours a bit more. Love you watercolor renderings!

Thanks for telling me that. If I see enough interest from viewers I may do the same approach to other gardens.
J’aime beaucoup ces analyses qui mêlent film et dessins 3D pour mieux comprendre l’architecture du jardin et le choix chromatique. Bravo et merci ❤

Thanks for speaking on Seneca village a lot of people don't know that history
What the heck did I just watch? I've never seen anything like this on youtube. Fantastic! Absolutely wonderful!
Always so impressed by your engaging editing and the way you bring spaces to life! Would love to see more content analyzing other public gardens :)
Would definitely like more videos like this. Loving the design aspect to your videos. The creativity and art is amazing 😀👏
Wow, I didn’t expect u to add the truth about the gentrification bit…was going to look for & rewatch the documentary on that right after 💪🏻😎👌🏻
Glad you appreciated it.
Great video! YES to this manner of content! Now, I will have to pop over to the city next May to see this garden in its glory.
Yes it does take a while for the garden to really grow into a mature form. It’s been 4 years for mine to reach this stage.
So very excited to watch your video. Love love your creative beautiful approach to filming and the time you put into each video you allow us to enjoy! I await more with excited anticipation.
Siloe, I love your content so much and really appreciate how much research you do. Definitely enjoyed this garden tour style video!
I love your explanations of garden design principals and hope you make many more of these!
Thank you so much for not only doing an amazing and captivating analysis of this cottage garden, but also acknowledging the gentrification behind central park.
I absolutely love this. First time on your channel and its a treasure. Thank you for sharing your insights its exactly what I need right now. ❤
Thanks!
Another beautiful & interesting video ! Your garden is looking stunning too
I love how you show examples of how to apply the ideas to tiny spaces -- not everyone can afford a huge plot of land!
I love how you tied in the history of the garden while also giving insights about the design, I would definitely watch more like this.
I have already watched this twice. So much information !!! Thank you for sharing all of this knowledge ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for letting me know you really valued the information
Man, you're good... The editing was so nice, it almost distracted me from the content, that was as nice. Proud patreon!
Beautiful video, so much wisdom! Thank you for these 20 minutes of precious beauty :)
Thank you so much for watching
This was really cool! Thank you!
I would also love to see month by month or maybe season by season tours of your home garden! I feel like in every video it looks so different, I'm amazed!
A pleasure to watch. As always brilliant. More please!
I was so happy to see your new video! I appreciate your teaching style.
That was such a cool journey you took us on, learned a great amount. Keep up the great work. Second to none.
Your descriptives are so accurate and really give us a vivid feeling of what we can hope to achieve through gardening.
Well Siloe… that was just wonderful. Your garden at home is feeling so full and whimsical. I’m so glad I found your channel, you made the world better just by sharing.. a nice lesson for us all.
Yes! You should have your own show. People would love it.
Love this format and would greatly enjoy more visits to public gardens.
This was so inspiring! To answer your question: yes, I would love to see more videos like this one! Thank you :)
