Things were evolving really fast those days. 1987 such a concert was impossible. 1988 -- a new normality. Actually this festival was organized by some Finnish guys and fest included numerous Finnish bands.
I've seen many bands live. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, The Police these are Big names Prince, Woodstock 94, Genesis, Rush Rainbow, CSN. Greatfull Dead I rank these Guys up with them because of their Command Performance Thanksgiving Night 1987 @ Bogarts in Cincinnati Ohio. By far the best Light Show maybe the Best of All Concerts that I went to! The Music, Sound, Feel, I literally NEVER FELT MUSIC LIKE THAT CONCERT EVER! I
Very. And in spite of them having equipment problems and logistical concerns playing behind the Iron Curtain. I have a bootleg cd of this I bought in the UK in the 90s.
I remember seeing this footage for the first time and being blown away as the 87-88 era always interested me a lot because of the scarcity of live material. I'd of course owned the FM broadcast for years before I finally saw this footage though, and it has to be said the mix on that audio is superior to what it is here - perhaps somebody could sync it up?
Probably straight from the original cameras recording it. You'd be amazed how great old footage looks when it isn't copied/broadcast/recopied/put on a different format/copied again/uploaded online/copied *again*/and so on.
This was a pop album, but I loved it. As it turns out they only made one decent album after this. I saw them live a couple of years ago. I was a little late (john had glasses and a lectern), but still a great show.
more and more shows I've been to have had the singer using a lectern, why? I'm not sure, perhaps after 40 years of playing music the lyrics can all become one song and it can be confusing
I think the whole band is dressed in their pyjamas, I guess it was the whole thing with PiL during the later 80's years... lol Peter Hook (from New Order) used to complain he was deceived by the band outfits during their "Monsters Of Alternative Rock Tour" during the summer of '89...
it was. he was supposedly banned in the Soviet Union. And they were pretending to be the opening act for Big Country, but they were the actual headlining foriegn act.
The studio version of Seattle is one of the greatest guitar intros ever!
The guitar...the bass...I’m not sure which one is making me more aroused. My goodness, what a live performance. Thank you so much for uploading.
Man, this is pure gold, thank you for this upload!!!
John McGeoch's guitar playing... ace.
Interesting to see how the Soviets were starting to ease cultural restrictions at this stage.

This was awesome.
Absolutely DIVINE!🙏God bless Johnny Rotten Lyndon
3:31 fucking love it when drummer starts hitting an anvil or whatever that is. Just emphasises the sexy swing of it all

@@patricktimothy8354 This concert in UdSSR was possible only thanks "perestroika" by Gorbi... :-)
Well, Tallinn, 1988? What a surprise, I would never think that PIL played a gig in Soviet Union at that time! Excellent show anyway!
I would love to see this version tabbed out for Guitar

🎉music 🎶to my ears 👂🎶
It’s a great song from a much overlooked album.
This footage looks like it was shot in 2005.
It really does the quality is good for 1988
Its Estonian TV 1988

William, could you please upload "angry" from this PIL concert. ? Thank you !!!
I just uploaded it today
Nice to see him change the lyrics at the start to "what went up, must come down" presumably references the Berlin Wall.
Great live for great music.
what to say.?. about. one of the biggest group punk ever.
Johnny looks great 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💋💋💋💋♥️
What's up with 1:29?
John McGeoch better at guitar than backing vocals, I guess.
@@edwardlazell3157 probably distracted at the other guitarist who doesn’t how to tune his instrument and keep it there.
Play back?
Fantastic live set.....but just out of curiosity were these guys wearing their pajamas?
Where can i have this shirt 😳
I love this shirt since 2001 😂
Un magico Arlecchino
The lyrics are more meaningful that initially meets the ear. ....... Fuck....... Johnny in his rasta days. ...... God I wish I'd seen em back then.
Saw PIL live at Jones Beach in NY...fuckin' great.
HMM..... I wonder if Cobain and Vedder were influenced by PiL
Flowers of Romance is noted as one of Kurt Cobain's top 50 albums in his journals
Obviously
No way 😂 u dumb

Boy John,
Somebody needs to tune that fucking guitar.
Slaps
Sorry meant and oh dear
🤘💯🫡
Sounds like McGeoch is out of tune... still, a favorite bass line & track!
He's not, Lu Edmonds is
One of them is, but when I hear that in 80s footage, I just think it sounds very post-punk, heh
I never could get into PIL , punk, to new wave or whatever, that wasn't punk I know that
What is that shit he's wearing on his head
Just think, in 3 years after this Nirvana released Nevermind, and liberated us for this sort of pretentious shite.
Then the fun 80's were replaced by the woeful 90's
This song is better than Nirvana's whole discography 👍😂
Nirvana recorded Bleach same time.
Satire or Irony ? Nirvana were just another well placed product. Right place at the right time.
both are the same demography as far as i´m concerned
