I had a friend a few years ago, Kelly who is close mates with Ben. She would tell me how hard he was working to get his life back on track. It’s no surprise that his health has improved so much over the years. He’s a true champion. It’s sad to think about how the Australian media and public treated him when he was struggling. They could have been much kinder. Let’s learn from this experience and be more understanding of those who are dealing with mental health issues or substance abuse. Stigma can be harmful, and it’s important to offer support and compassion.
