As a manga reader, I’m calling it: this is the BEST (so far) RENDERED ADAPTATION EPISODE EVER FOR MHA! That last pose at the end, the silence, the tinkling sound of the ice, the two shadow child selves of Shoto and Touya fading in the blast . . . GORGEOUS! BREATHTAKING! I definitely teared up at the end. I’m so excited and terrified for what Bones is cooking up for the rest of the season. Because DAMN!
The best episode for me is still his start (endeavor vs high end) but this one is good too. It’s just that fight was longer and had more room for insane animation and the final attack was so emotional for me, but this one is definitely top 5 for me
Shouto was so amazing this epsiode, I love the way his moves were adapted this season. And the character devolpment is so peak! They always cook with Shouto episodes
I was kind of in a similar boat to you in regards to Dabi. I just thought he was alright. But then in the summer of 2022 something just sorta...clicked with me. All the sudden I became feral for him! He even toppled my love for Tomura Shigaraki. Ever since Dabi's been in my Top Five Favorite characters in the entire series. I loved the mastery of this episode and the Voice Acting was top notch as always. I'm super looking forward to watching this episode dubbed in a couple weeks. I'm sure the English VAs will knock it outta the park too! Seasons 6 and now 7 are shaping up to being an awesome ride! Everyone involved with making this episode definitely cooked!
If bones keeps this pace, especially for the big episodes, ill be so happy that this season would shut up all these animation critics and haters. Let em cook
Another great episode. Everyone else seems to find it funny but I found the juxtaposition of Toya’s fire engulfing Mr. Sunny’s smiling face pretty disturbing. I know it gets explained at some point that he didn’t die but that anime sequence sure implied that he did. Also, whenever they reference back to just how important Deku vs Shoto was I smile. That moment was the turning point of the whole Todoroki family saga and I love how Izuku and Shoto became absolute ride or die bros because of it.
I am ok with either long or short fights, but it has to be substantial. I feel like anime fights are best when it’s treated like a 70s-80/ action film. Change of scenery/setpiece, change of power structure, the stales on hand, the convincing strikes and visual clarity, and satisfying end of the match are the things I look for in a clash. Post-2020s Marvel Superheroes movies fail at this, despite the fights going on for dozens of minutes at times. Just having a couple of characters shooting or swinging at the other is meaningless without the proper set up, if I wanted a mindless fight I’d watch a MMA or Boxing match.

I couldn’t imagine being in Touya’s place in those flashbacks. Like, he burned himself up, and the next thing he knew he was several years older and looked completely different and had a different voice. And then he went home, only to realize that his father had essentially just continued on. All of Touya’s fears had essentially come to life. It’s also honestly super sad that Shoto feels the need to carry all of the family’s hardships on his back when none of this should really be his responsibility. Unfortunately, Endeavor spent the last month or so completely neglecting Shoto and Touya, so he’s gonna have to fight All for One now instead, which sucks since Touya seems to really want to talk to him instead of Shoto, and I can’t say I blame him. Still though, I hope that Shoto can get through to Touya in some way. Touya may not want to admit it, bit they’re more alike than he thinks.
