    These 2.0T engines are known for valve and ring issues, turning into money pits above 100k miles. $5k to $10k fix. Be warned.

    This was such a successful car despite high maintenance costs (Poor people that buy luxury cars then complain are silly). I see Audi Q5 everywhere on the roads in my country, they are sturdy, powerful, comfortable, very fuel-efficient for its weight power/age, and have excellent handling, superior to X3.

      My recommendation is to get a good pre-purchase inspection. It’s worth the money. Ask the owner how much oil he needs to add between oil changes. You want to make sure the motor issues I talked about in the video aren’t present. Also be prepared to spend money on issues as they come up. We can’t expect Japanese reliability from these cars.

    • @AccentOnCars
      @AccentOnCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching. Some oil consumption is normal for the VW group TFSI engines. But it is better to get it checked. In severe cases, carbon build-up cleaning and piston ring replacement may be necessary.

    • @AccentOnCars
      @AccentOnCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks for watching! Just like with many German cars in terms of safety features they are ahead of the curve. Although used Q5 may not have all the features of the 2020 model, they have more passive safety elements than some new Japanese/Korean/US cars. In terms of reliability, try finding 2013 and newer within your budget. Also, make sure you get it pre-purchase inspected and have solid maintenance history. But you should not expect them to be as reliable as Camry, for example. That goes for all German cars.

    Great review!! I'm thinking to buy a Q5 2010 with 33k miles by $15k USD. Would worth giving a shot? I never have had a premium car before, just saw it and loved how comfortable it feels driving it, but I'm a bit concern about maintenance costs. Not scary though.

    • @AccentOnCars
      @AccentOnCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s a low mileage for 2010. If the car had been maintained properly it shouldn’t be too bad. Maintenance is key. Parts might get pricey. But unless the car has been totally ignored and beat up it shouldn’t cost you an arm and leg. I talked about what to look for when buying one in the video. V6 engine is more recommended.

    I live in the Dominican Republic. Lots of Audies coming from the US mostly 100k-150k and that scares me a lot because of the mileage. And then there are the local Audies mostly between 35k-60k mileage. Of course you can determine the US version some what with the carfax you can see where it is driven how many owners and so on. But mostly the cars bought here in the dealer they are taken care of maintenance wise. I am lookin for one that has lowish mileage and somewhat new. I guess this puts me for a 2015-2016 maybe 2017 model. But should I look also a 2013-2014 model with a very low mileage? Does it really matter so much the age? I am really scared from the high mileage I asked for one and the dealer told me 240k miles I said no thank you and it was overpriced (24000 us or something) Remember down here we dont put much miles on the cars because of huge traffic. My 2018 tucson that I have for 3 years only 15k miles made.

    • @AccentOnCars
      @AccentOnCars  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Labor rate should be affordable in DR, isn’t it? If you find a good car that checks off all the major issues, then go for it. Whether 2014 vs 2017 depends on how much newer technology you want vs price.

    • @AccentOnCars

      This particular car has non-standard rims which may affect the ride quality. These cars run very smooth, but not as soft as RX350. If you’re looking for more comfortable ride, then rx350 is the winner. But if you value sportier handling and faster acceleration then Q5 wins.

      I think DSG might be problematic especially at that kilometrage. Depending on where you live servicing it can be cheap or expensive. But you can get it all checked out. You can drive and see how it shifts. I think I’d get any car checked out really well before buying.

      @@AccentOnCars Sounds good Do you think 184.000Km is still an acceptable mileage ? Car is not taking oil and got an engine revision at the Audi dealer @121.000KM Runs smooth

      That’s not that high of a mileage. If well maintained, it can last for much longer.

    I'm thinking to buy a Q5 2012 with 80k miles by $21k USD fully equiped. I never have had a premium car before, just saw it and loved how comfortable it feels driving it. Do you think it's worth the price? It is powered by 271hp. What sould I check exactly before buying this car with 80k miles?

      Wether it’s worth the price or not depends how much you want the car and current market prices. I covered things to look out for and common issues in the video extensively. In a nutshell, pay attention to the engine and do your pre-purchase inspection at an independent mechanic that knows German cars before buying.
