thanks, had the exact same problem and fix it, without any tools just enough to fix my iphone 6, great.
Removing the capacitor did the job, looked in similar condition to the one on your video. I was thinking I'd need to replace the digitzer or charge port, no need.
Was a short on the motherboard thanks to the power supply test you showed, up and running now, thanks!

Just wanted to say thank you for your video. I was given a dead iPhone, couldn't charge it and it was due to water damage (fell in a toilet and left there partially submerged for about an hour). I took the product apart, and watched your video, among others, and upon close inspection of the logic board, there appeared to be damage very similar to the one you were working on in this video! I didn't have a power supply, so I could not test for shorts as you did...but I decided to remove that same capacitor and see if it would charge. Sure enough, the phone is charged and the display now works! I have not yet reassembled it fully, and I need to add some glue/tape to the battery because I removed the adhesive strips, but I believe I will have successfully restored the iPhone thanks to your video! By the way, what was the uF on that capacitor? In your video you started to say the value, but you get distracted by a customer. Thanks again!

What do people typically charge to test a water damaged phone? I have one sitting around that I would just like to get operational if possible to get photos out of it.

I had a iPhone6 and the display was shorting the phone (also water damage) and you could see watermarks on the lcd
So whenever I disconnected some of the connectors it would turn on and if I would plug it back in it would stay on

Always leave battery disconnected while connecting screen, otherwise damage can happen, it is a known mistake.

Sorry i may sound cheeky, i did not want you to make your job harder with more damage.
the thing is, if you know what you are doing and if you are careful with taking the connectors out, nothing bad can happen. but yes, a little wiggle or pressure on the wrong side of the connector when the battery is connected can cause a lot of trouble.

Yes but it is not always the case. It can be red because of very very high humidity exposure. Bathroom when taking a bat or shower.

I dropped my phone in 2 inches of water in a dog bowl today. This is the second time it has happened. It happened with 5c when i dropped it in the toilet when it came out of my pocket. I currently have my 6s in rice and i may leave it there for a day or two. I also didnt power the device off and initially the screen was fine but the speakers didn't work. Later the screen went weird so i contacted apple and they told me to power it off. I hope it works ok.

On the 14 min. of the video when you apply amps you say "the short is not here" the power supply shows 2.66 amps and 1.1 v ... My question is, based on what you say that the short is not there. Could you please explain this?

More amps shows the power supply the further is the short and less apms closer is the short to the place where you put the leads to apply amps.

Iphone 6s water damaged, some parts of PCB which i could remove the cover from tweezer is cleaned with IPA lotion, still its not working, once i connect a charger i could observe the heat at the PCB which is covered with metal plate , kindly tell me the solution

Take the motherboard off leave it n the 91% isopyl alcohol for 2 days. No need to do all crazy shit. Its a simple fix. If that doesn't work change the battery and charging port.

I think he may prefer it to be just a bare wire, it's more versatile and can be used where the probe wouldn't fit. Probably smaller than alligator clips also.

My girlfriend dropped her iPhone 6 down the toilet. It was cleaned with isopropyl in an ultrasonic cleaner less than 24 hours after. The logic board was removed and tried in a donor iPhone but it still doesn’t power up. We don’t want to use the phone on a daily basis, we just want to be able to create a back up to transfer to a new iPhone. Can you help us please?
