I remember playing this, back in 99 when I was 6 years old, in the living room while my mom was chatting on the phone with her sister. My mom passed on this day 4 years ago and I miss these days so much. This is beyond nostalgic.
The horror levels scared the hell out of me as a kid. It wasnt the enemies, but rather the atmosphere, music and creepy pixelated pictures on the walls.
same bro especially the thing that was moving around the item that you needed and started to follow you if you took the item. Scared the shit out of me
my friend and i rented this back in like 98.. we were surprised at how good it was.. later on he bought the game.. he overdosed last year.. this game is just one of many good memories i had with him
Gex is too obscure nowadays + Crystal Dynamics only do Tomb Raider games now + they'll certainly need advices from at least the main people, who worked on this and they are in a variety of different studios nowadays.
My mom used to be so pissed about us playing this game since there was cursing so she made us return it to Blockbuster...and then we ended up renting it again a few weeks later so she just gave up. The 90s..
Guess my mom could've done a little better supervision when we were playing games. I remember playing GTA, Duke Nukem, RE2, MK trilogy on PS1 when I was like 6 or 7 lol. The beginning with the flaming zombies after the oil tanker explodes in RE2 traumatized my ass for a long time lmao.
My parents either didn't care or just didn't really pay much attention when I was playing games (I think more so the latter) so it wasn't an issue for me.
I still have a foggy memory of playing this exactly once at my cousin's at a very young age. It was the Scream TV level, and I remember not being able to get past the Frankenstein monster and it scared me. I'm glad I was able to figure out exactly what game it was, thank you.
I used to play this using the cheat code that made Gex say a one liner every time you pressed the Select button. I'd mash that button even when Gex was entering a level and he'd keep getting sucked into the TV screen until you stopped pressing Select. Great times!
Holy shit, that haunted house level used to scare the hell out of me. There’s something about the sound effects and the lighting that still gives me the creeps to this day.
man if Gex make it to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, his reveal trailer will be just like King K. Rool and Banjo-Kazooie Reveal trailer, except the troll of Gex will be Yoshi from the Mario/Yoshi Series.
Looked for this during a rainy Holiday day. Think i'm going tobplay that whole Game myself at the Point He got the third remote. Really Loved the "Horror" -Levels as a Kid. Well i was a very uncommon Kid Back then...
I played the castle part as a young kid, on some ps1 demo disc and later i never remembered the name of the game. Wanted to see it from Yt but had no luck finding it. Came to me from dunkey and finally I can go back to this nostalgia, wohoo. :D
Nothing will ever replace the feelings of these games. The N64/PS1 graphical aesthetics along with the sounds and music was something special. They were so similar but yet all so different, no crazy hard drawn out campaigns just foolish fun in the best of ways. Nostalgia at its peak!

This game is not as bad as I thought it would be. I finished Super Mario 64, Sunshine, AND Odyssey, and needed SOME platformer collectathon to fill that gap in my soul. This kinda does, weirdly.
Played this game when I was 4 or 5. I remember just playing the game without even knowing what I was doing. But for some reason I always played it. Definitely a weird game even now watching at 27
The only Gex 2, I played was the demo and it was only the scream TV stage with no enemies, no goals, just amazing suspense and Rez the final boss will be in the stage too at every red light or green light in the mansion, if you get a green fly and don't eat it until, you find the red fly Gex will get a flaming mohawk from his head all the way to his tail and never run out of fireballs for just a demo before the final release of the game I actually missed the demo 😔 it feel like a different game and I still haven't played this game I will one day 😉
Alright man.... If Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom can get a "rehydrated" HD version then Gex absolutely needs to get the same treatment. I never played these games as a kid. But they look like something I would have loved and I'm gonna try them out now.
I have this for the N64 but for some reason me and my friend enjoyed this game more on his Playstation. Unfortunately his disk had a scratch on the second Out of Toon level so I had no choice but to get near the end on my N64. Insane to think that was almost 20 years ago!
