You guys should watch Tusk, starring Justin Long. It also features Haley Joel Osmet and Johnny Depp. It's one if those movies that is so awful it's good and you only watch it once, but reference and quote it for the rest of your life. "It is one fuck of a bummer to look at," is both a quote from Tusk, and a description of Tusk.
I hate scary movies but my friends convinced me to watch this at uni back in 2003. My 18yo ass had to sleep with the lights on in our dorms for a week after that 😅
Benji is me watching this movie. Alternating between scared and smirking/laughing because I can't NOT think of "Scary Movie 3" lol 😆 My bf gets so annoyed that I laugh during it!!
I watched this around the time it came out so I was not affected by the 'Scary Movie' films, but I did not find the 'Ring' all that scary. It had a couple scary moments, but it was just more suspenseful and occasionally unsettling to me. It is a film that I have rewatched, but not because it a scary film. My parents had a video store in a small southern town until they sold it when I was in my early teens (I think within a year or two of this film's release) so I had seen a lot of much more scarier films at my relatively young age.
25:01 weird, did any notice the white VHS static line that moved up samara but not the rest of the tape? it actually seems to happen a few times during that interviews and i cant see that kind of distortion anywhere else on the recording. cool detail if im not imaging it lol
I'm pretty sure it's smoke from a cigarette in the ashtray, and you only see it on Samara because she has black hair, but it blends in everywhere else.
@@QuestionableLifeChoices th-cam.com/video/cTLTZDSvNkw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=EvelynJackson 1:58-2:10, you can see how whispy it is and that it keeps coming in little tendrils, and the other monitor is garbage quality (on purpose, since it's an old camera and a camera recording a screen), so it's not picking up detail, but there's distortion there that could be the smoke. Also, each time the camera cuts back to Samara, you see more of it.
Yay! I just checked this channel a couple days ago and there was nothing posted so super happy to see this. This movie hella creeped me out. *7 days* 👀
I definitely had a hard time taking this serious and benji was not helping all I could do was think and quote scary movie. 😂 I lowkey couldn’t stand the main character like sis wasn’t making smart choices.
Samara is basically the daughter of a water demon. Her biological mother had abilities that's why the demon choose her therefore Samara also has abilities.
I wondered how the hell I didn't get a notification for this one before realizing this is a different channel! 😂 Excited that there's more content to go through from these two after I'm done with this video, lmao
9:40 On the other hand you had the teacher who was totally "hey your kid is a psychic, tell me more about this dead cousin of his". 11:50 Fun detail is that - Samara may have not told him about 7 days, but Rachel very much did, to some extend still being a proxy. Especially as she knew what the phone would say.
I'm kinda disappointed that this is the American remake, I still think that the Japanese original is way scarier ^^" But I'm still hyped for another Horror movie reaction of you guys! :D
I was like 10 when this came out and I remember moving the TV in my bedroom to being on top of the closet every night before going to bed so if she tried to come out after me, she'd fall and break her neck. I forgot how green and blue this was. Thought I was watching Twilight for a minute, lol. I think Ringu might be creepier, but nothing beats that 1st time I saw her crawl out the TV as a kid.
you know what was fucking scary? we rented this movie back then and my mom, dad, sis and i were watching. As soon as the video ended, OUR phone rang. we all looked at each others to see who was pranking us by using their cellphone. well, none of us was. turned our it was my aunt, but we all had a fucking mini heart attack. also those assholes made ME pick it up
The first time I watched this movie, I borrowed my friend's copy of it. And this was a copy that was actually on VHS. So back in 2003 when it was still recent. I watched it, and I got scared, but I did enjoy the movie. 4 days later I'm sitting in my room where I watched the tape, and water starts dripping down the TV screen just like in the movie. I freak out. Yell "No! I still have 3 more days!" and run out of my room. After I calm down some I realize it's raining, and there is a leak in the roof where rainwater has dripped through the attic, then through the ceiling of my room right above where my TV was. The water had been slowly dripping onto the VHS player and then down onto the TV screen, and I didn't notice anything until it got onto the screen. I have never been so relieved in my life. Still freaky that the one place the roof was leaking happened to be the area directly above my TV. It's part of the reason I'm reluctant to watch scary movies because weird stuff keeps happening whenever I watch one.
With summer approaching, you guys have to react to sleepaway camp! It’s a fantastically bonkers movie. It’s both bad and amazing! And it only had a budget of $350k in made $11 million at the box office and the practical makeup effects are so great. Practical special fx makeup is the reason I love movies and horror movies in particular and I think given the budget the makeup is 10/10. Plus the cast are proper teens which is so rare in movies. And the outfits are insane but in the best way. Lots of Male crop tops and denim short shorts. It’s not lgbt friendly, but it has one of the most iconic horror movie endings ever.
@@popcastbutscary I will say you will be confused the whole movie but by the end, it will all make sense! It’s honestly a top 5 so bad it’s good guilty pleasure movie of mine and kinda truly unique.
@@popcastbutscary but if you want a good lgbt horror movie, the 2nd nightmare on elm street (so I know you’d have to watch the first one but it’s worth it to watch the first one because 80s horror relevancy) was written with gay undertones which turned into overtones when the finally made the movie. There is a scene where the main character ends up at a leather bar (and the bartender is played by bob shaye, head of new line) and he ends up running into his gym teacher who is dressed in a leather daddy outfit and then cuts to the gym teacher making the main character do gym drills while still dressed as a leather daddy. It also features Haley Joel Osmet and Johnny Depp. It's one if those movies that is so awful it's good and you only watch it once, but reference and quote it for the rest of your life. "It is one fuck of a bummer to look at," is both a quote from Tusk, and a description of Tusk.
😭
I hate scary movies but my friends convinced me to watch this at uni back in 2003. My 18yo ass had to sleep with the lights on in our dorms for a week after that 😅
🕯️
Benji is me watching this movie. Alternating between scared and smirking/laughing because I can't NOT think of "Scary Movie 3" lol 😆 My bf gets so annoyed that I laugh during it!!
OMG! OMG! I could cry. So glad we get a horror reaction! I could kiss y'all both!
Me too!
YESSS. That Brenda scene at the school in scary movie 3 is the WHOLE movie for me 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
📺💦
I watched this around the time it came out so I was not affected by the 'Scary Movie' films, but I did not find the 'Ring' all that scary. It had a couple scary moments, but it was just more suspenseful and occasionally unsettling to me. It is a film that I have rewatched, but not because it a scary film.
My parents had a video store in a small southern town until they sold it when I was in my early teens (I think within a year or two of this film's release) so I had seen a lot of much more scarier films at my relatively young age.
Yeah it’s definitely more vibes for me, not as scary as The Grudge
25:01 weird, did any notice the white VHS static line that moved up samara but not the rest of the tape? it actually seems to happen a few times during that interviews and i cant see that kind of distortion anywhere else on the recording. cool detail if im not imaging it lol
I'm pretty sure it's smoke from a cigarette in the ashtray, and you only see it on Samara because she has black hair, but it blends in everywhere else.
@@caseyd9471but it's too perfectly straight and consistently to be smoke and it doesn't show up on the black monitor frame, which is also black
@@QuestionableLifeChoices th-cam.com/video/cTLTZDSvNkw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=EvelynJackson
1:58-2:10, you can see how whispy it is and that it keeps coming in little tendrils, and the other monitor is garbage quality (on purpose, since it's an old camera and a camera recording a screen), so it's not picking up detail, but there's distortion there that could be the smoke.
Also, each time the camera cuts back to Samara, you see more of it.
@@caseyd9471 ok yeah, THAT looks more like smoke lol.
Love yall working together to figure this out!
“Cindy the TV is leaking”
😂
Yay! I just checked this channel a couple days ago and there was nothing posted so super happy to see this. This movie hella creeped me out.
*7 days* 👀
We’ve been so behind 😭
@@popcastbutscary 😘😘😘
I definitely had a hard time taking this serious and benji was not helping all I could do was think and quote scary movie. 😂 I lowkey couldn’t stand the main character like sis wasn’t making smart choices.
IT'S SUCH A GOOD MOVIE but goddamnit, it's hard to take seriously lol
Samara is basically the daughter of a water demon. Her biological mother had abilities that's why the demon choose her therefore Samara also has abilities.
From what I’m reading this lore is WILD!
That's more the lore of Sadako in the Japanese Ringu movies, the American movies give a rather different explanation for Samara's origin
omg!! the ring!! 7 days! 7days!! Is this the movie that will finally make Benji and Rizzo scream?? XD
😱😱😱
Now watch Sadako vs Kayako. The ghost from The Ring in a battle to the end against the ghost from The Grudge. It's so bad it's brilliant.
Hahaha okay done ✔️
HOW DID I NOT KNOW YALL HAD A HORROR CHANNELLLL CONSIDER ME SAT!
The actor that plays Samara is the lilo voice actor from lilo and stitch movie and tv series
🤯
I wondered how the hell I didn't get a notification for this one before realizing this is a different channel! 😂 Excited that there's more content to go through from these two after I'm done with this video, lmao
Welcome aboard!
Two must-watch suggestions: Carrie (1976) & World War Z (2013)!!
“Cindy, your tv’s leaking!” 😂
9:40 On the other hand you had the teacher who was totally "hey your kid is a psychic, tell me more about this dead cousin of his".
11:50 Fun detail is that - Samara may have not told him about 7 days, but Rachel very much did, to some extend still being a proxy. Especially as she knew what the phone would say.
Benji’s face on the thumbnail is f*cking glorious
It’s my favorite 😱🫣
I'm kinda disappointed that this is the American remake, I still think that the Japanese original is way scarier ^^" But I'm still hyped for another Horror movie reaction of you guys! :D
Yay 🎉
Now I need to see you react to the rest of them because I can’t watch them by myself, but I’m curious to know what happens
Hahaha Deal!
OMG YES!!!! been waiting for more scary movie reactions from you guys! much love from Canada!!
Sorry sorry sorry 🫥
I watched his movie when I was 11-12 & I could not sleep for 3 months straight… it was torture lol
if you haven't seen the babadook yet then you should deeeeefinitely add that to the popcast but scary bucket list. also, anything by jordan peele!
We WILL be watching The Babadook for Pride lololol
oh fantastic omg
Don't really have anything special to say about this video, but I love this new channel! This is for the algorithm!
OMG thank you so much 🔪🩸
Honestly scary movies are a great way to ease you into the actual movies 😅
I was like 10 when this came out and I remember moving the TV in my bedroom to being on top of the closet every night before going to bed so if she tried to come out after me, she'd fall and break her neck.
I'm just happy little-kid-me was too dumb to realise a broken neck probably wouldn't stop a ghost lol
You were resilient though! Props to you!
This movie and Darkness Falls terrified the shit out of me, as an adult im like okay it wasn’t even that scary but now I have a love for horror movies 😂
IDK why but the “$10 charge for letting my kid fall asleep on the floor” bit is killing me xD
We’re always keeping an eye out for a good deal!
@@popcastbutscary lmao!! nice xD
One of my favorite movies as a kid 😅 you guys should advertise this channel more on your main! I didn’t even know it existed until today 😭 omw to binge all the other videos as well
You’re right we definitely should advertise more hahaha whoops
Not “Answer us little girl” my ass quickly said AHT DONT ANSWER ANYTHING BABY 💀
I forgot how green and blue this was. Thought I was watching Twilight for a minute, lol. I think Ringu might be creepier, but nothing beats that 1st time I saw her crawl out the TV as a kid.
People say it was amazing in theaters
Yay thank you for watching this, it was fun revisiting it with you
Us too! Thank you for commenting 🎉
you know what was fucking scary? we rented this movie back then and my mom, dad, sis and i were watching.
Forgot to add the TV I had at the time was almost exactly like the one Samara comes out of at the end.
That… would… freak… me… the FUCK out! What a wild story that’s amazing 📺
Dude! How the hell did that little girl go from voicing Lilo on Disney to playing a creepy girl in a horror movie?!?
RANGE!
"Deliver Us from Evil" 2014 is the first biblical horror to remind me of "The Exorcist"...since "The Exorcist".
Oooo okay will note that for later
why am I near a ducking tv…. I’ve seen both versions of this and it still haunts me.
Hehehe we all cope in our own ways
OMG, like AHS 1984. Live for that opening episode where they are all working out. 😂
📝📝📝
It’s bonkers
When I first watched this with my brother the phone rang immediately after the movie ended… neither of us wanted to answer :P
DONT!!!
I can’t NOT hear Lilo when Samara speaks 😂
Me neither! Girl has range
"There's not gon be Black people in this movie, huh?" I DIED
🤷🏿♂️
