I mean it takes 3-4 years of intensive Japanese language classes (on the side from the actual engineering classes), applying and interviewing at Japanese companies, and then working a full time job in a foreign country-but yeah it’s definitely worth it and I’ve been very lucky

Wow!! Thank you for making this vid! I remember visiting origami paper shops in Tokyo a couple years back. One shop had some of the best and thinnest paper I've used but I've been bummed out ever since because I forgot the name of the shop! I'll remember this video for when I go back :)

This is absolutely fantastic! Now I have one more reason to visit Japan. I would like to see about origami events!

This is a great video! I'm interested in learning about origamic architecture which is a form of kirigami. I've been able to get books from Masahiro Chatani and Keiko Nakazawa that I couldn't find in the United States, but like you said I'm interested in the places and community that might exist around the craft in Japan. Is there any advice or experiences you've had with origamic architecture in Japan? Thanks!

I thought cash is generally more wide spread than card payments in Japan, at least that's what google says for the country. Is that not true? Considering you make note about that only for the last shop.

It depends on the area (ie the more rural it gets, the less they take card, roughly) but most stores in Tokyo accept card and some even accept payment from Suica (train/metro cards). All the other stores were ok with credit card (although idk about the origami museum, didn’t buy anything)

Amazing! I also went to all of those shops last time I returned to Japan! I will be moving to Japan in a few months and I’m hoping to meet some folders.😊

5:01 I love how they called you “Brandon-sama” in the email ☺️
Also did you get a pic with 勝田さん?

Seems like it’s pretty standard for places to use keigo to interact with customers. Unfortunately I didn’t get a photo
