This is cool. Rode will now either sell you a great podcast mixer or if you don’t have space, they have enough dongles to turn your laptop into the mixer.
Hey Rode peeps, I know this has been asked before in other ways but would this AI-micro be the best choice from Rode to send a stereo "aux" feed into an iphone? Are there gain settings that allow you to lower the input to accept line level? If this works great, if it doesn't you guys seriously need to come out with a simple tiny version that strictly takes rca's or even 1 stereo 3.5mm. There are a ton of potential customers who simply want to take an audio board "feed" into their phones for 1000 different reasons. Make it happen please. Thanks in advance.
Hey Ripper (cool name)! In short, yes it can take a line level stereo feed, but you would have to turn down the AI-Micro input volume, as well as lower the signal volume being fed into the AI-Micro. But yes, the AI-Micro is a great way to accept a stereo feed into a smartphone.
I would like to know if possible to listen video through headphones out during the playback of recorded video. Because originally when mic connected to lightning, iphone does not let you listen, you have to disconnect mic from lightning port.
It's maybe good thing for some future AI-Micro Mk2. And the second thought - if AI-Micro will have USB-C socket for charging, why not allow to plug second AI-Micro to same USB-C and allow to record from 4 microphones? And maybe even 6 microphones with 3 AI-Micros in chain? Just another idea for Rode. :)
Question: is there a way to record individual mics (channels) into different files? Given an interview and I’d like to have the 2 individuals on 2 individual channels.
In 'Split' mode, the AI-Micro which will record a single stereo file with both audio tracks recorded seperately to the left and right channels. In order to get seperate files, you'll need to import this into a DAW and seperate them into their own mono tracks.
Hi Rode, if I connect one of your wireless go/pro products to this, can I monitor audio wirelessly for a video or voice call? Looking to connect this to an iPhone but not be tethered through cable directly to the phone for calls while still being able to output voice and hear audio in real-time. Or does Rode have a product that’s like one of those gamer/call centre headsets that can do good quality voice input with the mic close to the mouth via a boom that can connect wirelessly to a phone/computer? Hello, I was wondering if I am using 3rd party tool to record audio, does my system(computer) detect 2 seperate mics connected or a single input source with 2 channels ? AND if this is a single source with 2 channels, what will happened if the mics are at few inches apart and audio not synced(TDOF) ?
It will detect the AI-Micro as the single input source, though the bleeding you will experience with the microphones will depend on the type of microphones you are using. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to our support team! They will be able to help you out further - help.rode.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
This thing is really tiny, very cool! I wish this unit would have 48V phantom power for my two microphones and a second seperate stereo out for a portable speaker. Hardcore deluxe would be if it also would have a 3,5mm MIDI input jack.
Does the AI-Micro require a device to be connected for the direct monitoring to work? I know it's a weird use-case, but I need a mic ony right (deaf) side to transmit thru the AI-Micro to a headphone on my left (good) ear. It's not a deal breaker if I have to connect my phone to turn on monitoring, but it would be more convenient if it's not necessary. I understand that the AI-Micro is powered thru the usb, and that might require a device to be connected, but if that's the case is it going to work on a power bank for example?
It requires to be connected to a device in order to be powered, yes 😊 it wasn't designed to be connected to a power bank so we are unable to recommend this method of use. But if you require any further assistance, feel free to contact Support for more info - help.rode.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Hey David, the AI-Micro and any connected lavaliers will save the audio to the video file that is saved to your camera roll/gallery. Its worth double checking that your AI-Micro is up-to-date with the latest firmware, as new OS require constant updates for compatibility, you can do this via RØDE Central: rode.com/en/software/rode-central
Hey there, while the AI-Micro is compatible with both iOS and Android, just note that some mobile livestreaming apps don't support external microphones. Apple and Google leave it up to individual apps as to whether external microphones like ours are supported, so it's out of our hands. We can't constantly stay up to date with which ones do and don't, so we suggest you do your own research if that's the reason you'd like to buy an AI-Micro.
Always great products here👍🏻 I would like to know if I can use the AI-Micro for an In & Out interface but the sound source would not be a mic🙋🏻♂️ Connected to an iPad, I would like to use the mic input as an input but the sound would not come from a mic but from an( mp3 player for example) using a 3.5mm jack then be recorded in the iPad (with GarageBand or Loopy Pro) and be sent back to the headphone output of the AI-Micro.
Yes, this is generally possible. If relying on what the app is recording/processing, we'd recommend disabling live monitoring of the AI-Micro, and enable input monitoring from the app being used.
Would it be possible to use the second pre-amp for a safety channel with a smartlav+ or other lav mics? I'm guessing that it's not wired internally to do that, but maybe something dumb like a splitter cable/adapter would work if the plug-in power wouldn't cause issues with pre-amps having different gains. I'd also like to know if the device already works or will work with Linux :)
Question: I understand the headphone output can be used to monitor mic input. Is it possible for the headphone to play what the phone outputs? For example, when I am using an Karaoke app, I want to hear my voice mixed with the music, as output by the app, not just my voice. Thank you!
I just ordered mine but I Dont know if its the mics im using. Its not picking up the audio. In fact when i plug the chords in my mics wont power on. And it is plugged into my tablet. Any ideas or help?
Are you using it with the RØDE Central app? This will help you manage the inputs, processing and push any firmware updates that might be needed on your unit.

Almost certainly no, but almost certainly it will work with the Action 2, which does accept standard USB audio interfaces. The Action 1 requires a proprietory interface. I've ordered this Rode device and will test it on both cameras as soon as it arrives.
Yes, it does work with the Action 2. But it does not support stereo mics needing plug-in power, only ones with their own power supply, which is close to a dealbreaker as far as I am concerned. Very disappointing.
Thanks for the new product announcement but I must admit I was a little concerned when I was only hearing iOS Believe It or Not There are those of us who buy your products who actually like Android thanks for mentioning that it was compatible with other devices
Does it work with the Discord app on Mac? Every USB interface I've used causes the mic to be picked up once every second (instead of consistently) and the only workaround seems to be to use paid (often subscription-based) software as a go-between. Discord blames a "bug" in MacOS but it's the only software that I use that has this issue.

Can i use rode al micro for live streaming on Facebook or Instagram or tik tok by connect it with audio interface ?
Hey there, while the AI-Micro is compatible with both iOS and Android, just note that some mobile livestreaming apps don't support external microphones. Apple and Google leave it up to individual apps as to whether external microphones like ours are supported, so it's out of our hands.
We can't constantly stay up to date with which ones do and don't, so we suggest you do your own research if that's the reason you'd like to buy an AI-Micro.
Always great products here👍🏻
I would like to know if I can use the AI-Micro for an In & Out interface but the sound source would not be a mic🙋🏻♂️
Connected to an iPad, I would like to use the mic input as an input but the sound would not come from a mic but from an( mp3 player for example) using a 3.5mm jack
then be recorded in the iPad (with GarageBand or Loopy Pro) and be sent back to the headphone output of the AI-Micro.
Yes, this is generally possible. If relying on what the app is recording/processing, we'd recommend disabling live monitoring of the AI-Micro, and enable input monitoring from the app being used.
@@rodemic yes, It works!!!
I'm using It to record line in signals, and with Yulean app (Ipad) to monitorize audio (LUFS, phase and Spectrum)
I wonder if there is any dynamic mics on the market you could use with an xlr to 3.5 output cable that this bad boy would power?
you can use any mic like i do, just run my sm7b to a preamp, output of preamp 1/4 to 1/8 TRS cable or XLR to 3.5 mm stereo
Awesome.. Is this available in India?
IK iRig Pre HD iPhone /MAC/PC HD Microphone interface?
Question: I understand the headphone output can be used to monitor mic input. Is it possible for the headphone to play what the phone outputs? For example, when I am using an Karaoke app, I want to hear my voice mixed with the music, as output by the app, not just my voice. Thank you!
Yes, the AI-Micro will output the device audio as well as the mic audio via the headphone output.
yes loopback
You guys are killing it!!! 👍🏼
Great product!! Does this works with DSLR?
Just received my Ai Micro from BH Photos today.
Will it take stereo signal from a mixer?
After all, I didn't know at all whether I could use a normal application or not.
There is only a bad feeling that a dedicated application is prepared.
Does it work on iOS for phone calls, FaceTime and other audio/video calls?
Looks Great ! Can i use it with a go pro 8 ?
does it work to have a remote caller on second line? like i connect a TRRS to TRRS cable for mic 2? has anyone tried it?
I just ordered mine but
I Dont know if its the mics im using. Its not picking up the audio. In fact when i plug the chords in my mics wont power on. And it is plugged into my tablet. Any ideas or help?
Are you using it with the RØDE Central app? This will help you manage the inputs, processing and push any firmware updates that might be needed on your unit.
@@rodemic i downloaded both apps . But the mics i have are Lesyafel mics. When i put the interface into the ipad and plugged in the mics. I was promoted to download the app. I downloaded both road reporter and the other app. I noticed the mics didnt receive power. And the mics were on. Should i buy and or use different mics
Can we get 32 bit float on the phone app please?
1:08 You forget to mention Linux. Does it work on linux out of the box?
Can you produce an IK Multimedia iRig Pro I/O with a Canon interface
how to do live streaming with this on insta live ?? or zoom calls
Simply plug, play and you should be good to go!
Nice work. This is what the SC6-L should have been.
Absolutely awesome!!! Question, could this be used with the dji osmo action cam?
Almost certainly no, but almost certainly it will work with the Action 2, which does accept standard USB audio interfaces. The Action 1 requires a proprietory interface. I've ordered this Rode device and will test it on both cameras as soon as it arrives.
Yes, it does work with the Action 2. But it does not support stereo mics needing plug-in power, only ones with their own power supply, which is close to a dealbreaker as far as I am concerned. Very disappointing.
@@Ozpeter thank you. I'm wondering also if you can plug a mixer into it. 😊
@@cmullenmusic If the output of the mixer cold be set very low, it might work but that is one for Rode I think.
@@Ozpeter it works with the rode wireless go 1 and 2
Thanks for the new product announcement but I must admit I was a little concerned when I was only hearing iOS Believe It or Not There are those of us who buy your products who actually like Android thanks for mentioning that it was compatible with other devices
Can this one be used with DJI Osmo Action?
When will this be available in America?
Hey Jake. It's currently shipping worldwide and will be available in stores in the US in the coming weeks. Check your local dealer for availability!
Can I plugin in a mic and output from piano to do recording on my phone
This is just what I needed is it released?
Fantastic! Excited to get one of these... podcasting on the go just got so much easier and I can even use my Wireless Go for presenting on Zoom which is perfect if I'm away from my desk and not wanting to lug my Yeti about with me.
How do I get on your Beta list! ;)
Nice! Love Rode. Will this work with the Rode PodMic?
Is there adapter to use for the podmic and this device with the podmic? Or this specific mic may not be ideal
Leider wird kein 32 bit float unterstützt...
can i monitor audio using wireless go ?
Is charging same time possible?
Hey Basar, though not designed to be used in conjunction simultaneous charging devices, this would generally be a yes. For Apple, we'd recommend the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adaptor: www.apple.com/au/shop/product/MK0W2AM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter
Puedo tener 4 audios con dos Rode Wireless Go II conectados, es correcto?
Yes, this is correct.
@@rodemic if I have the rode wireless go II. Do I need additional cables to detect the two audios?
@@rodemic well I’ve just bought the Rode Ai micro and I also have two sets of Rode wireless go 2 and it doesn’t work for me ?? I’ve tried everything and also have two TRS to TRRS using the IPhone 13 pro max camera and it only picks up 1 set of mics ??
Is there a certain app you have to record through ? Any help would be much appreciated?
I was told that this is possible so I bought another set of rode wireless go 2,but I have tried everything ? Unless I’ve done something wrong everything up to date in the rode central apps etc
Was just wanting to have 4 mics so 4 different people using a separate mic at a time ?
Hopefully you can help me kind regards @RODE
Does it work for Insta live? So that two persons can be microphoned?
Does this works only with rode app?
Other apps too. Of course I haven't tested them all...
Will it work with iphone lightning splitter?
Hey team, this would be the way to go if you'd like to charge your iPhone while using the AI-Micro: www.apple.com/au-hed/shop/product/MK0W2AM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter
