    This is exactly what I was looking for; a full body vinyl tutorial. In my mind I couldn’t sort out how everything would look smooth and seamless all the way around a guitar. Now that he showed and very clearly explained the process, I feel confident in being able to wrap a whole bunch of electric guitars. Thank you. This was extremely helpful.

    Great job. I guess we have to spray clear coat (lacquer) on it to make it last longer, right ?

    I just got some metallic black wrap from you guys anout a month or so ago. When i ordered it was advertised on a strat body, which is what i have. The wrap is just maybe barely wide enough to cover the widest part of the front/back. I dont mind trying to hide the edges on the side, but will applying heat with a heat gun help the wrap stretch a tiny bit so i get 100% full coverage ?

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, a heat gun will help.

    Would this vinyl wrap also work for keyboards? I would really like to give my Yamaha psr a new makeover!

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! It absolutely should work on the body. We never experimented with the keys, but we imagine you could even wrap those.

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually 2 sheets of 24" x 36" will allow you tow wrap the front, back and sides of the guitar.

    Why wasn't a heat gun used? Since no stretching of the wrap was done, what would the difference of applying heat be?

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This would be used in the post heating phase (not shown) to help cure the vinyl and release any trapped air.

      Great idea, we will try and release a video on that shortly. In the meantime, the principles are pretty much the same for wrapping a guitar whether it is acoustic or electric.

    Does this change the sound of an acoustic guitar?

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, we did not hear any noticeable difference nor heard any complaints. Either way, it is removable.

    • @hotchow8766
      @hotchow8766 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moks, there will be a slight difference. The formula for determining wood movement for acoustic instruments shows that the thickness of the moving cross section has a stiffness that is multiplied by a power of 3, a cube. The thicker it is, the less vibration, bottom line. Thick coatings on violins, cellos and classical guitars will dampen the movement and the resulting ability to project sound.

    Hello, I would like to put a skin wrap on a fender stratocaster. I'm thinking of wrapping the body in two parts, front side and slice then the back side. how to connect the two parts so that it is not visible? THANKS. Sincerely.😊

    I was just wondering about this, as I was thinking about wrapping an electric guitar with one of the carbon fiber wraps. I wasn't sure if it would stick to the factory lacquer.
    Quick question for you though: the guitar body has a few minor chips here and there. Nothing huge, just some very shallow dings in the lacquer with none any bigger than about 1mm. Since the carbon fiber has visual texture, can I safely just wrap over them? I know they might be visible after wrapping, but is that the only issue? Or, should I try to repair them first?

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't amage the factory lacquer at all. Carbon Fiber s actually an excellent choice (over a Glos solid color for example) because of the texture. No need to repair them unless you maybe want to seal them beforehand to prevent over-adhesion.

      A heat gun is recommended, you would at least want to use a hair dryer on a high setting!

    What are the measurements to wrap the whole guitar?

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the size of the guitar but five feet should be more than enough.

    Will this work for an open pore walnut guitar?

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question. If you mean a guitar that is not sealed, no top coat it is probably best not to wrap it. The adhesive could affect the grain if you ever choose to remove it and essentially take tiny slivers out during removal. If that's not what you meant, please let us know and we will do our best to get you the answer!

    • @levycamacho8474

      You can wrap it
      Just don’t take off the wrap or else the wood won’t look the same

    Why are so many of your wraps discontinued. Better yet, why are the discontinued wraps still being advertised?

    • @Rvinyl
      @Rvinyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a result of global supply shortages. You will find that this is a widespread problem. We wish it weren't this way but we do offer a number of alternatives in our Rwraps™ line of vinyl films.

    • @Rvinyl

      Assuming the finish or top coat on the guitar is in good condition, no it should not get damaged. We recomend heating the film prior to removal to soften the adhesive.
