Your method has a downside, your flat pattern components do not have square edges an the cut sides. At timestamp 15:04 you actually show this when you view the flat pattern edge on.

please ensure to select the correct body and pivot points are correct, then it should be no problem.

It doesn't work for me, it tell me ,Can't calculate body thickness. Select the base face of a valid sheet metal body (typically a wide flat area)
