Lee could be a very good singer, but not only does he just get a line or 2 in every 15 songs, but every song is often in the key best for Claire. Lisa struggles a lot too in this key sometimes. I would love for Lee to take lead on a song meant for the Backstreet Boys or Nsync, just to see if the different pitch and tone would work for him.

The Party (which consisted of former mouseketeers), Scene 23 (Popstars 2) in 2001, and even the defranco family where the record label tried to make tony the new donny osmond and his family had a devastating downfall.
Faye is gooooorgeous and has always been! she aged the best and her body is amazing! she looked soooo hot in the first black outfit ! Everyone looked great tho!

Listening back on some of there singles and songs, Faye actually did the first verse and Claire did second, with Lisa often doing the bridge, especially in the beginning.
Something quite interesting happened when the stylist began to critique their past fashion choices... The band had an immediate sense of pride in their past & they didn't like it being attacked in any way. I would definitely call this a positive reaction. Why wouldn't they be proud? Steps have achieved things that many only dream about
Yeah, it's something that's rarely happened. Usually stars says "What were we thinking?", but Steps never regret how they used to be, how they used to look. They really proud of who they are and their legacy...
Do you think Lisa feels she has the same powerful lead vocals as Claire? Lisa can sing, but she's a natural blender. She harmonies well. That's her talent and all bands need those different roles to make it work. Embrace who you are and don't be bitter about what you're not.
It's quite emotional watching this, especially seeing what it means to Lisa and Faye. It would have been devastating for the three who didn't quit. I wish bands could just take a short hiatus whenever the workload got too much and come back all refreshed 3 months later or so
I agree, one of the big statements in the show, was that they were working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. The real baddie in this story is their manager/promoter.
They should have let Lee sing the first part of the first verse ("Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for a place to go - Where they play the right music - Getting in the swing - You come to look for a king") then claire would take over.

I got to see Lisa perform at Manchester Pride August 2023, after re-watching Totally Scott Lee over again. I have such a lot of warmth for her. I am grateful for her passion and love for what she does, and her appreciation of what she still gets to do.
It`s great to see them and try to reunite. The pressure for a lot of Artists under most labels and managers is real! Just look at the struggles, breakdowns and dark paths some of them go through. Music is an art and I don`t think it should be pressured in the first place. I wish they were all to take their time without all these managers and labels pressuring them and squeezing them all out just to make money. It`s very very sad...I think this is why a lot of groups split and I don`t blame any of them...

And it's been more than a decade not to forgive no matter how painful what happen when the band broke up. What you guys needed is to be open with ur feelings no matter how ugly it is you have to tell them to avoid any future conflicts. And lastly, be happy that you have one another. And the fact that someone in this world wanted that money, fame, friendship and talent that you experienced and just throw it away because of your bitterness and ego. I'm really sad for Lee... His only big break was their first single 5,6,7,8 were he did the rap part of the song... I think that is his first and last break until their group fade away... He was never given a chance to lead the song and he just remain a background until their group ends... Compare to H that he has a solo perform from the group. Thinking Lee's voice is also great and powerful... Most of their song was dominated by the ladies and Claire is always leading the chances...
He did sing lead on a couple of songs back in the day here and now it was lee and Claire singing the verse before the chorus on the 2nd part (Both songs from the buzz album) turn around lee got a lead vocal On there song buzz it was mostly faye and lee Say you'll be mine he got a lead vocal And on there recent albums he's had lead vocals on quite a few songs back in the day he did get a bit of a chance to sing just not as much as the girls and H sadly
You know what I find so eerie. Steps break up in December 2001 and then in December 2002 Two New Pop Groups are formed. One become Superstars, the others don't. That of course is Girls Aloud & One True Voice and they all have Pete Waterman to thank to a degree for getting their foot in the door.

As a Bass myself I can sympathize with Lee, but being in show choir in High School, I really came to appreciate how important the bass line is to a song. Without Alto's and Basses vocals just end up sounding hollow.

If I was in Steps, raking in money and touring the world, I wouldn’t care who got the most vocals. When Destiny’s Child sacked two band members, and Michelle joined, she said she’d be happy to sing whatever she was told to, wear whatever the others didn’t want, she was just thrilled to be in the group.

It's really interesting to see the thought processes of different members of the band. Must be disheartening to hear a song that doesn't actually suit your voice and therefore knowing you don't get a chance before you've even started.
I’m really confused- every time they talk about these massive rivalries over Claire singing lead all the time they show the others singing. Claire had the most recognisable voice but they definitely all sang, with the possible exception of Lee.
I wouldn't have given them a Cover Version. Let them sing something Fresh to show that they still had the "goods" musically. In the US Boy Bands/Girl Groups almost never do covers, there's too much drama with Copyrights and the like. In fact The US TV Series The Wonder Years was distributed through Time-Life because they had acquired the Rights to use on Infomercials/Adverts.

tbh, Claire had the best voice, and turned them from sounding novelty..but she also had to realize she joined a band, she should have gone solo if she didn't want to share lines..so its a give and take, Claire deserves a song or two to her own, but everyone else should sing.

Claire did the lead vocals, but Lisa was always in the front middle of every photoshoot....but no-one says anything about that.

It's really interesting to see the thought processes of different members of the band. Must be disheartening to hear a song that doesn't actually suit your voice and therefore knowing you don't get a chance before you've even started.

I’m really confused- every time they talk about these massive rivalries over Claire singing lead all the time they show the others singing. Claire had the most recognisable voice but they definitely all sang, with the possible exception of Lee.
I wouldn't have given them a Cover Version. Let them sing something Fresh to show that they still had the "goods" musically. In the US Boy Bands/Girl Groups almost never do covers, there's too much drama with Copyrights and the like. In fact The US TV Series The Wonder Years was distributed through Time-Life because they had acquired the Rights to use on Infomercials/Adverts.

Why is it expected for Claire to give up verses but no one else? Especially when she’s the best singer hands down in the group! They want a hit song well they’re not going to get it with Lisa singing the lead they’d be dropped faster than H threw Claire under the bus on the first episode!
Absolutely. Funny how Lisa had no problem when she was front and center of a lot of their photo shoots as that’s what worked. Claire singing the most is what worked but that’s different apparently
