Someone pointed out that I tell you to enter your public IP into the port forwarding IP address. You should be putting your computer’s local IP address there instead. The public IP is what your friends use to connect to you.
YO!!! this is the bit of information I needed! I was trying to use the local ip for the invite and it wasn't working..! thank you!
how do i do that
@@GloDc If you use windows press windows key + r and type in cmd and press enter. When the command prompt opens type in ipconfig. Note down the IPv4 Address of your computer and fill that in when trying to port forward.
If you still need help there are a lot of guides online which you could use.
@GloDc bring up cmd or powershell type ipconfig. The IV4 address is what you use for local. Then Google my IP and that will give you the public address. If your giving your friends a 168 or 192 that's the local behind a nat. If your router has a dmz setting just enable it arris modems have that option then. You don't half to port forward.
@@MrPlumloko thanks
This was the best tutorial i got so far for this game.
This is an amazing tutorial for both beginners and advanced ppl alike.
I've never done anything like this before and was able to make it work (with a bit of fiddling with the port forwarding); took me just over an hour.
I sent a mate of mine (much more advanced than I) this video and he said it was really helpful, was able to put the server together in under 20 minutes.
Keep up the good work! 10/10 will share
I'm 10 hours in and haven't figured it out.
Thanks for taking the time to leave this comment :) it’s a great feeling to hear that it helped and was clear to follow! I appreciate the feedback and sharing!
Major thanks dude your tutorial is best out right now
Awesome I’m really happy to hear that :)
actually saved my behind when making this tutorial you are very easy to understand and follow along with. i hope you continue to make content like this, you earned a new sub out of me!
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me to hear that! I try to make my guides as clear as possible
Great video. Do you know how to used the co-op saved file into the new dedicated server? Me and my friend decide to play on dedicated server with 6 people but using the co-op multiplayer save file.
Thank you by far one guide I could easily follow thank you very much
Glad it helped
anyway to copy the single player world over? i did a straight copy and the world itself copied fine, but player data didnt. so im not a member of the guild and have to start from lvl 1
Note++ will place all the choices you can edit in order from top to bottom, making it easier to find what item you would like to edit. Someone should make a GUI for this. Great vid , Thanks.
thanks , couldn't figure it out , till now.
Easiest tutorial out there. Much appreciated bro!
How do you transfer a save file to the server from a locally saved game?
How do you know how many players your computer can support as a dedicated palworld server? What would be the minimum hardware specs requirements for a server of 12 players?
i have a server password set in the config file but none of my friends need to enter a password to get into my server? (btw you can check the "password" box when joining the server and upon entering the password it also lets you in the server. so the password is correct but just not needed
Great video mate, very to the point which is nice to see. hopefully you or someone reads this, i have 2 comps i was going to run a dedicated server on the spare one, but my main rig is far better is it possible to run the server in the back ground while using the same PC to play the game and join the server?
Can I edit the palworld srttings after I have already started the server and played in it? I have port forwarding setup by my friend cant join via ip:port number. Only by invite code!
I have my own server awesome I appreciate you bro
Do you have to put your public ip address in the settings as well for this to work? Other than that great video, i usually hate doing things like this or messing with game files because i usually have to download a bunch of stuff but this was very simple to follow. The only confusing part could be the port forwarding if you've never done it like me but you should be able to download your internet providers app and access it from there like i did
How would you go about wiping one of these servers once you set them up? I want to restart from scratch at level 1, thanks
None of my settings in the config apply when i start the game. did just like you said. stays at 8211 no matter what and my gameworld settings dont change
hey when i put my ip address from google into the field and try and create the port it'll pop up with an error saying that i have to use a LAN ip address, anyway to get around that?
I am stuck right at the beginning, I've downloaded both the game and the dedicated server thingy in steam. and then i go into the PalServer folder, to copy the settings from, in "DefaultPalWorldSettings" but my folder has ".ini" at the end of it... and when i click on it to try to copy the settings. there is about half the amount of writing. the settings that you are copying just arent there.
not sure what's going on or how i proceed.
please help someone
Okay really stupid question, i don't know if i don't something else wrong or is that I have line separated all the pal world settings to its easy to find. Should that break it?
What is you can't port forward? Can they still connect to it without you being on by giving them the regular IPV4 Address?
my palworld server keeps saying "Connection Timed Out" for my friends i dont understand what i'm doing wrong...
same, have you figure out yet?
Port forward correctly
I havent got the internal port/external port on my router settings as far as I can see only WAN port and LAn port :(
Is there a way to join the world without the server creator opening their palworld? or is it really necessary for them to be online?
Anyone else getting "Session Search Error: OnFindSessionsComplete bWasSuccessful== false" errors?
I followed instr step-by-step. Is it a user error or game error?
Hey man this video is awesome but when i open pal theres no saved folder.
All i did was follow your tutorial is there another step that possibly wasnt mentioned or i missed?
@0:55 "saved" was not an option below "plugins" within the pal folder after we copied the server settings. cant find it anywhere pls help
If you double click the PalServer application to run it, it should then create the "saved" files you need (aka the application needs to be run once before you can mess with the files)
@@Diana_rath Thank you, this is what I was predicting but I was scared to sun the server before config update.
My friends can't seem to join my server and they keep getting a "connection timeout" error. Any issues of as to what that might come from?
same
same
When i ad my Port forwarding it doesn't show up it just says Port forwarding is turned of? How can I turn it on?
I am using Verizon and idk how to set the port forwarding it never saves when I press it
did all the build pal everything on the ori server will lost ?
Correct me if I’m wrong. You can open command prompt, type ipconfig /all. Next to default gateway will be the address of your router.
You are correct 👍
Thank you so much!
at 0:56 my Pal folder doesn't have the "Saved" folder. what do i do to get that?
For me it doesnt show the large settings and link in the notepad along with the server na,e server password, etc
i dont have a saved option for a bit after copying the settings portion
so how do i change the settings...i just have a sample settings right now.
i did everything from everyone i wached, still i can't connect to my public ip.
there is no folder named "Saved" in my dedicated server folder location
will making a dedicated server affects the world i already made? i don't want to lose my progress.. 😅
I have a IPv4 that doesn’t look like any I’ve ever seen(example 10.x.x.x).
Any tips?
Keep in mind that there is a differance between your public IP (what you can google) and your local IP. Many routers have a slot for your IPv4 adress and will require that one since anyone connecting to the server will already be using your public IP or DNS address to connect to the server. the router then needs to know to what device on your local network to send the data to via IPv4 adress.
Ease to find out by opening your RUN program (windows). Hold the windows key and hit R. Then type in CMD into your run window. Once in there you can type in "ipconfig /all" and most of your IP info can be located in there. You will want to find your IPv4 and it will usually have (preferred) at the end of the IP but you just need the numbers
I followed throught and able to create a game. The different from yours and mine is that in my port forwarding has no place to put IP address. My friend got an error msg when trying to connect to my game......I'm not sure where is the problem.
Try to find some info on your router. Portforward.com is good finding that info
It keeps telling me I didn't enter a password when I clicked connect in game. I'm not sure how to enter the password that I set in the settings.ini
There’s currently no prompt for entering a password. You’ll have to just take off the password for now
I don't have a Saved folder in the Pal folder. Do I have to do something first to get it?
I didn’t have the saved at first until I tried to open the server.
make sure your opening palserver and not palworld folder
i have typed in the ip address in my search bar and it wont load anything
does this work for windows/ xbox ? or is this only for steam users
Can this be done with multiple networks? I work in a firehouse and get some down time to play there too. Would I be able to set up port forwarding on two different routers to the same server?
You just need to run the same configuration steps for each location. Then when you change locations the ip you go to to join will change. The better idea usually is have the computer stationary that's hosting and connect from wherever you are on a different pc.
I followed this step by step. Was able to change name and rates. But couldn't get anyone to connect. I have no clue why. It's too complicated at this point. I gave up.
do i need to be online always for my friend to play?
My Window Server folder isn't there anyone know why that is?
Finally got it to work, my router prefills in host names for the pc's on the network. I had to change it to IP address because Palworld doesn't like hostnames apparently.
do you by any chance have a google nest router? if so help lol
Are my friend will disconnected when im offline?
finally someone who does port forwarding with my version of bell lol.. are you from south ontario?
👀 lol ye Toronto
@@Swashed_ jeez you have alot of interesting videos too will be checking out some of the botting ones
I've gone step by step with this tutorial and everything up to inviting my friends worked. I believe I have the correct IP address (no the public IP) and I was able to past the IP and the port code and I myself was able to join the server but my friends haven't been able to join. It tells them server timed out (I restart my PC too just in case) is there a fix to this?
same thing is happening to me right now dude.
Can you do this with the microsoft store version
The IP address you entered in the port forward is your public Ip or your computer local Ip ?
Your public ip
@@Swashed_ can people join you ? Because many tutorial said you should use local Ip which is your local computer Ip.
Just want to know will the PC have to be on for your friends to get on the server or can they log in as long as they have the IP and port number?
The server has to be running for it to work. If you turn it off, the server goes offline
@@Swashed_ so the computer has to stay on is the answer?
yes@@MyNameIsDre91
Do I have to keep the Palworld dedicated server app open at all times in order for my friends to play?
Yes. Also it can randomly destroy your saved files too
Yeah I am not doing all of that lol. Good detailed video and very informative though.
it just have a phone, how am I supposed to get it
why cant i find my saved in pal server file
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I would assume my pc would have to be on the whole time and running the palserver app then? Otherwise it wouldnt work?
Correct. You need to leave the server console running for it to be operational
@@Swashed_ would it be possible for the host to run it back open just incase the host server (personal pc) is off
@IndieNomadGames as long as the server console is running then the server will be online
These dedicatet servers are 24/7?
I did all of this and it’s still not working ;-; I’m so confused
Biggest question no one asked, where do I get the code to paste it into the notepad? can't find it on google
i dont understand, no matter how many tutorials i do it never works...
@@Frickmook nope
With this method can console people connect to this server or would it just be pc
This is just for pc. I don’t think there is cross play
@@Swashed_ yea just found out the dedicated server is pc only. Crossplay with normal multiplayer tho.
I couldn't increase the limit on how many pals can be stationed per camp. default is 15, but I want it to be 20. It doesn't work for some reason.
"; This configuration file is a sample of the default server settings.
; Changes to this file will NOT be reflected on the server.
; To change the server settings, modify Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/PalWorldSettings.ini.
[/Script/Pal.PalGameWorldSettings]
OptionSettings=(Difficulty=None, [...],BaseCampWorkerMaxNum=20,[...]"
This doesn't change it from 15 to 20. What am I doing wrong? :(
I've heard that in single player increasing the count after a world is started doesn't work, so maybe it's the same here and you need to set it before launching the server.
i dont have the saved folder
can people from xbox join these servers
i dont have the saved folder.
My friends with different wifi cant connect my server only same wifi can connect in my server. What should I do?
you need to figure out the port forwarding
everything i see until i check for the save file is not there. i am talking about the file save in file.
Sorry what do you mean
Run the server once and the files will populate.
I can't find the palworld dedicated server tools
It’s just in your steam library. You have to check the tools option
@@Swashed_ already check the tools options.. but still it only shows palworld only
how can i do daily backups for my dedicated server?
You can do it manually if you want :p
I started server with friend but if he isn’t playing I can’t play can we chance our server to a dedicated one?
You should be able to move all the files to a dedicated server yeah
@@Swashed_ thanks dude
I have done all the thing in your video, but still cant connect to the ip host
Man I wish I had the answer. Port forwarding is such a pain sometimes. It could be a number of things. Sometimes you need to restart all the devices involved. There could be a router-specific issue. It could be ISP related. The list goes on..
i fixed this by using hamachi
why is my files don"t have any saved files like in the videos?
it only shows binaries, content, plugins.
same, no idea why
found an answer! "If you double click the PalServer application to run it, it should then create the "saved" files you need (aka the application needs to be run once before you can mess with the files)" thanks @Tomnician
@@zr8x found it haha thanks alot!!
@@zr8x mate, do you know how to set it up for items not to drop after we die?
Does this require you pc to be on for people to connect?
Yeah. Your computer becomes the server
My friends are having connection timeout issues? Can someone help?
When you’re doing the port forward thing, you gotta put your computers local ip and not the public ip. I might have mixed that up
How would I go around using my own IP? that's a huge security concern for me
If it’s just for you and your friends it shouldn’t be a concern
dont host a server
I went to the website you were talking about, but now it’s telling me scams about me getting a risk of a virus.
Which site 0.0 port forward?!
I follow your tutorial but my friends still say that their connection has timed out?
followed*
I also used my local IP address just like you said but still the same result
Try restarting the router? Sometimes it needs a reset to make the settings take effect
Does this server work even if my computer isn’t turned on? So others can player eventough I’m not online
Same question
The application you run is the server. Closing the application puts the server offline.
Answered
i didnt have the saved filezhen i was looking for it
Can my friends join the server if I wasn't online?
Yeah as long as you’re running the server program
@@Swashed_ so i still need to open my pc and run the server program in order for them to join?
@murazakii3032 yeah
so i have 2 routers how would this work
Port forward the one that the host pc is directly connected to the internet/isp. Safe bet is to port forward both
hey, the game had an update and cant figure out how to update the dedicated server. what do i have to do to update it?
do i need the SteamCMD? ive seen another clip of someone using that and i kinda mixed your both methods but i wasnt sure if the SreamCMD is fishy or nah but he says i need it to update the server.
I’ll have to do it myself when I get home today and see
@@Swashed_ i have managed to get my server running again but lost all my progress sadly, let me know if u you are able to carry over progress and char level pls.
Ok yea my friend wasnt able to join me at all, ive tried many different things. Does he has to do anything except joining via my public ip and port? Ive been trying for hours
If you're downloading and running the server like shown in this video then you can just update it in Steam. I threw together a quick tutorial of what I mean: th-cam.com/video/VfCw3HYLiFI/w-d-xo.html
My game is lagging is there a way to reduce lag on the dedicated server?
Your computer might not be powerful enough to run a server + play the game at the same time. Servers are pretty resource hungry. If you have a secondary PC, I recommend running it from that
@@Swashed_ my friends are having trouble getting into the server everytime i shut off my computer and turn it back on
@Steven-xm6ml your ip might be changing every time you restart
@@Swashed_ also some ISP change your public IP on certain time. like mine.
is there a solution to this if it keeps changing ?
Anybody else palworld settings ini empty?
I found out a flaw in this tutorial and it was causing me 3 days of frustration. You said look up "Whats my IP" on google and put it in your port forwarding. This is false. you put the private IP of the device (PC you're running your server on) you're forwarding the port to into the internal ip spot. The internal and external ports should be the port you're forwarding. external ip is left blank. The public IP which should be different from the private ip you put in the port forwarding should be the ones your friends are using.
🙃god damn it. You’re right
also did not even do the cmd with the "ipconfig /all" command. I wonder what IP he used to connect to the server with as if it was his public IP i would of expected it to fail vs a LAN IP
THough for your or anyone else having issues I did leave a somewhat detaild responce under his pinned comment regarding your responce.
The team at Pal world really need to make this a much easier task....
This is beyond nonsense lol
Give them some time. They’ll get around to it
Is it 24/7?
If you keep your computer on, yes
no fckn idea on how to port forward on fritzboxes. i dont even have an port forwarding option
WILLI
?
