If this Fitz didn't die, space Fitz would've woke up in 90 years and none of his friends would be there. Unless Enoch was monitoring Earth for the destruction, then he could've came back when he realized it was averted.
It's a bit more traumatic than that, but kinda, yeah. Fitz being out there was always a thing - if they had failed here, like they have seemingly done quite a few times, he would have been there to wake up in 2091 and meet up with the team once again. But imagine if they had succeeded AND this Fitz had lived - the other Fitz would have woken up in 2091 to find that Jemma and all of his friends had lived and died without "him". It would have been Steve Rogers all over again. But instead of "I had a date" it would have been "I was going to propose." Sheesh. My heart breaks thinking about it.

You forget that the final episodes of this season are set in the middle of Infinity War, when the Avengers are busy fighting Thanos' forces. Also, that city is Chicago, not New York.
The Tale of Two Fitzes.....heheheheheh! But my GOD did we all cry like babies when "Fitz of the Future" actually died. And then we were all like "Whew! Fitz died, but thanks to wibbly wobbly timey wimey whammy stuff our Fitz didn't die!" Time travel. Complicated AF, but its the "save all" plot armor mechanism!
The show is canon, but folks who either like to exaggerate the divide between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV (a divide existed, there was some degree of coordination but MTV didn't know about everything in advance, and now we have MS projects utilizing minor characters or objects that originated in some of these shows) or feel that everything from the films must be referenced or shown often like to propagate something like AOS not being canon. They'll mistakenly consider a lack of mention of something as a contradiction within canon and that's just never going to be the case. Like, if there was an extra episode set between Seasons 5 & 6 that directly connected to the end of Infinity War (since the S5 finale ends immediately before that) without changing any existing episode from seasons 6 & 7, it would negate almost every argument against AOS's status. And if you don't have to change anything from S6 & 7, then why wouldn't they still be canon? Now, that's not to say I'd expect characters and events from AOS to be referenced in the films, but, as we're already seeing, some minor cameos and occasional nods or references are not out of the realm of possibility- especially now that the shows are concluded, which allows the characters to be utilized without having to step on the toes of any ongoing TV plot threads and arcs.
Rewatch the opening scene from 5x01 and you see the drawings told the story of the whole season. You can see Coulson and May in one of the drawings standing on the beach.
The movies have opened up the idea of different universes where things might be slightly different in some ways and very different in others. I choose to believe this is just another universe.
Nobody has mentioned this but Simmons going to where deke room was and taking her Fitz’s tool is symbolic to her mission to receive her Fitz from space.
Fitz died at whatever age he is now, but from the year whatever when the world was broke, so he essentialy timetravelled there one second a time in deepfrost condition. However, this means, that whenever Simmons finds Leo frozen out there orbiting shit, they will have a narrow window of time together, since later Fitz at whatever age he is when he showed up in broken world events time, must be going back to the freezer. That's why one does not simply put timetravel in their scripts. Still better than Endgame tho.
*NO SPOILERS* Ok so basically, the snap will NOT be referenced in this show. Why? because marvel studios actually refused to tell them the plot of infinity war or endgame, bc they suck. Kevin Feige thought they needed to focus more on their movies and what not instead of all the Netflix/ABC shows, which he had a back forward with them for a couple years and he thought it wasnt worth it anymore, so he basically announced them all to be not cannon anymore. This whole series is like a "what if Coulson survived the Loki stab" timeline. In the MCU timeline, Coulson is dead af. However this show could possibly be cannon one day if they bring it back via the MCU multiverse!
The way I see it in Far From Home, most of Black Panther, Falcon & Winter Soldier snapped while the original 6 Avengers didn’t Snap, my guess is the Agents of SHIELD didn’t Snap.

So yeah, the team returned to their present, which was just like a few days or weeks tops, after Fitz froze himself and went to space with Enoch, to find them in the future. So with that, it turned out to be 2 Fitzs, the one from the future that returned with the team and the one from the present that is waiting in space for a future that now wont happen anymore because they broke the loop. So Fitz did die, your tears were not in vain, yeah we still have another one, but it still hurt like hell rigth 😭💔 (and I'm glad you notice that switch in the end, because I didnt when I first watched it and I was DESTROYED, I have never cried so much in my life, and yes that was so RUDE!!)
