Not much to say about this one. This really is just a longer remix of The Toilet Lock Is Stuck, though I'd imagine that they actually blew up the entire public toilet.
Inspirations are practically the same; mostly with Savaged Regime's arrange of Stereo Protect, and some new reference material as well. Some instrumentation choices like the FM drums are taken from Jesper Kyd's work, who notably worked on the impressive yet difficult arcade-styled The Adventures of Batman and Robin. Some inspiration was taken from Sonic Forces as well. I tried to do a little more interesting things with this one, but for me it ended up falling a little short. Then again this isn't my kind of genre, but I am happy to experiment.

At this point it doesn’t even sound like Genesis music anymore. It’s such an amazing track it just transcends the console… and somehow doesn’t even use all the channels. Just in awe, this is amazing!
It sounds like something you'd head in like a 2006 game, even a modern indie game.

(Also, the reason it doesn’t use all of the channels is to leave room for the sound effects, otherwise they would cut out bits of music. A good example of this is Pokemon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. All of them have this issue, especially in battle)
@RootBeerAddict520 common misconception; most 1st gen - 3rd gen consoles have this problem due to the hardware limits themselves, only a select few games with efficient channel management and arcade games don't suffer from it

This is seriously impressive stuff for the genesis, especially the use of heavy sampling on the DAC. I wonder how much extra cartridge space it’d take up if it were to theoretically be used in Sonic and Knuckles
That said, one thing I might add: I actually think Act 1 is a bit more foreboding and fits better as a final stand for Act 2 while I feel like a triumphant first act

Well you can look at the VGM file download, which on its own is larger than the original S&K ROM (2.3MB vs 2MB). Modern day flash carts like the Everdrive could allow for ROM hacks that expand the ROM size, but without bank swapping (which would require additional hardware in the cartridge, not sure if flash carts provide it) there's a hard cap on how much the 68000 CPU can address since it only has a 24-bit address bus, giving only 16MB of address space (some of which is reserved for hardware registers, video RAM, etc). The largest Genesis game I'm aware of is Pier Solar which apparently only has an 8MB ROM.
If we were talking back then, you mayyyy need a beefier cart just for music alone.
If we made a cart NOW though it would NOT be an issue EVER.

I've been listening to this almost on repeat, the instruments are dynamic, the composition is awesome and inspiring like a final level should be, and the whole song is just a blessing. 2:58 is by far my favorite part, especially once the second half of it kicks in at 3:30
This fits so much for technically the last act in the game (tried it myself, can also confirm). Only thing I would say is that it could probably use a bit more melodies, although that's probably just how EDM is in general. The piano part is almost tear-jerking btw it's so good

My first time listening to act 1 just now I was thinking that if it was actually played in-game, especially at the end of the story mode on Sonic Origins, I’d probably actually start tearing up and have to pause the game because of just how epic and emotionally charged it is as a final level theme. Then I heard act 2 right after, still not even in a gameplay context, and even then I actually did like physically cry a little. Granted I’ve been getting rlly emotional over small things as of late in general, but even so the fact that your music was one of those things is a testament to your sheer ability as a composer. Good fucking job.
