I remember a few years back there was a Pontiac/Commodore over in San Diego that had NSW Highway Patrol style wrap but in Thot Patrol instead of the NSW Pol wording…

If it was a Kingswood, every yank would be going "nice Chevelle" .... The VL is a truly Australian design. I love watching Americans trip out seeing old Commodores, cos it's familiar yet strange 👌
That took me back.. Perhaps if someone bought it and moulded the chassis and added safety features of today's standards they would sell out in a heart beat.
No matter where the VL turbo is it will always be a head turner. That whistle.. you have no idea how many times I hear my teenage boys whistling around the house pretending to make the turbo sound lol.
I miss my VL Turbo - it was the best car ever! @16:20 You know, I miss that "DA, da da da" sound. I also had a resonant sound from the air filter box I had that was really awesome. The other thing I miss is hearing the turbo whistle up at 2800 RPM when I am cruising on the highway, I loved the surprised looks I would get from those who knew that that noise meant.
the vl must get so much attention over there no one would really know what the hell it is probably the only vl ever in the states & to be driving it still with the vic plates on it so very cool 😁
No was a VL in USA around 15 years ago. are a lot of Aussies live over there who take their cars with them. is VY SS ute sits out front of a tyre shop in videos and is all dirty with windows down, guy seems to not care for it too much Are LX Torana Hatches, SLR 5000 sedans, HQ Monaros. one guy has a VS v6 ute. Aussie cars over there do not surprise me anymore. 1 guy took his HQ one tonne ute over and was driving it around, A Blown HQ Statesman was taken over and he did a route 66 trip in it..
Hot car! Started my time on VBs at Tony Packard Holden. Edit: Easy to tell it's a Calais, aside from the badges, it's got the pop-up lights. Sadly, the best straight 6 pot Commodore ever had a Nissan donk.
Best & simplicity mod you can do for your brakes is replace the original master cylinder to strut tower bracket with a stronger one. You'd be amazed how much flex there is in the firewall on these cars. It really improves the brake feel. 🇦🇺🇺🇲
Surprised you even got a VL over there haha didn't think it would happen but yet again Australia is the one who doesn't import LHD without conversion or cars being a certain age
You dont need to use the transport plates look at Shmee150 when he brought his ford gt over to usa from uk, he did the same with his amg gtr black series
Over 25 years old, so import shouldn't be an issue. I'm just wondering how you got it insured AND did you have to get a new windscreen for it to meet D.O.T regulations?
I owned an 88 Vl ex cop chaser. T28 garret upgrade. I did a disservice to her when I was young. Knocked a telegraph pole out of the ground. It was the Nissan engine. But it remains the fastest thing I've ever owned. Love your content. Love how you've boated it over there. (Needs a Brock grill, LOL)
So lesson learned was - display your permit properly, and try not to rev it up at the lights. Seems pretty straight forward. At least the cops were reasonable and fair

I'm spinning out seeing it on my computer here in Melbourne!!! WTH!
and the vic plates hahaaaaaa
There’s something so cool about seeing a car so far out of its natural habitat
that dude on the Bike doing deliveries was the man, love it
Surely the first VL to drive in NYC
Honestly I don't think it would be.
NYC is a very big famous place.
It's extremely difficult to import and register right hand drive into usa so you're probably right
@@harryx6968 so is the whole of australia and I never see VL’s let alone across the other side of the world. Has to be the first and only surely.
Pretty sure Wheels Magazine took a maroon VL Calais to NYC back in 1988 but my memory is hazy as it was so long ago.
That door squeek in NYC 😂
A VL being pulled over by police? Its in its natural habitat 🤣
Could have ended nasty
that Gordon Ramsey bit was too funy. whoever does the editing for these videos, they NEVER miss with the memes. i adore this channel so much!
