I worked with a guy in Boston Indiana at a grain facility he was from hot coffee Mississippi first time I've ever heard it mentioned in 20 years thank you
Fascinating, as always. There's just something about these abandoned or forgotten places. The piano is sad. Every dumped or abandoned old piano was somebody's pride and joy at one time. Somebody saved their money to buy it, invested time and effort into learning to play it, and maybe generations of kids took lessons on it. Today it's almost impossible to give them away. I guess that's progress?
Yea, I wouldn't take a piano for free yet was offered several times. I can't handle once by myself nor ever have room to have something like that. Only a homeowner with a nice spacious house keeps one. There are still piano tuning services and even violin crafting shops in Utah for those are used in Mormon youth groups playing classical music and for churches. Everything crafted, owned, and used by people does end up in the scrapheap of history except a very few items in museums and very high level private collections held by old money families.
You described so well the sadness of seeing this discarded part of former lives - once treasured and valued. In my 60s now, I remember those times - small town Christmas concerts where a piano would be the only accompaniment. It was a time of simplicity after which most thought they were leaving to go on to something bigger and better. There is no going back, but there is a definite realization that what we had back then was a blessing in many ways.
I agree. It's so fucked up. I live here in Southeast Pennsylvania, and every single week on letgo- offer-up, there is LITERALLY 10-15 FREE PIANOS AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS THEM, SIMPLY DRIVE AND PICK UP. IT'S RIDICULOUS,. Today's generation of kids wouldn't know what to do with one ,,, IF YOU COULD PRY THEM AWAY FROM BULLSHIT VIDEO GAMES OR THEIR CELL PHONES. WE ARE RAISING GENERATIONS OF USELESS ZOMBIES
@@ellebelle8515 It saddens me to see that too. Almost everyone in my family including cousins, aunts and uncles had pianos. My mother loved to play hers. I felt so guilty after my mom passed and could not take her piano because I did not have enough space in the smaller condo where I moved. I did some serious downsizing. High mortgages, assessments, taxes, and not making the money to barely afford the basics. Times are hard!
Loved this. "Yep, I'm talking to an air freshener". LOL. Thanks for doing the whole train. My grandpa worked for the railroad his whole life. One time us grandkids got to ride in an old time caboose. Had bunkbeds, a cookstove, hanging lanterns, the works.
I love trains also having been born and raised in a railroad town(Burlington, Iowa) also like it when the train goes straight through the middle of the town instead of just being tangential to a town. My hope is that this country can bring back train travel to all parts of the country not just the big cities. When I was 8 (1955)I took a train trip with my school chums from Burlington to Gailsburg and back on one of the old steam driven locomotives. It was a real fun adventure. It is a highlight from youth. Adam see if you can find some more train stuff like you did on your previous vlog. This one was 2 thumbs up.
The loss of so many of these wonderful railways that helped build early America makes me sad. How great it would be to see a lot of the tracks of the past rebuilt for passengers.
Dude, idk what it is about your content that draws me in like a moth to a flame, but this stuff is absolutely amazing! This is why I fell in love with your channel. Keep up the great work and letting us join you on these adventures!! You are the 🐐!!!
Wonderful to see the small town places forgotten in time. Another great video! 👍🏼 It really hit me that when we are urged to “shop small” it does matter if we buy from the independent stores to keep them from the same fate as many of the abandoned shops we see in this video. I’ll be better about my shopping this Christmas after seeing this video. 🎄
I stopped at that same store and got some coffee on the way home from laurel last week… it is awesome seeing you riding the same roads I do… love the videos and love the channel!!!
I love these backroad trips. I was raised in a small town and my dad and granddad were small business owners. They served on the town council and were members of the Chamber of Commerce. Except for major things, mainly medical related, you could live in a small town your entire life and never have to leave. Those old abandoned stores provided a good middle class life for many people, and gave a sense of community to the surrounding area. All gone now.
Fun Fact: Transylvania is a term that used to be given to large forested areas (it's actual meaning) and used to show up on maps for those regions. At one point Kentucky was going to be named Transylvania (we have an excellent college with that name). Good to see Adam on the road again! Hope the reason for the trip is a positive one.
Transylvania? Yeah'. That SHOULD fit along side,Auschwitz, that is if one wasn't a Black American ESPECIALLY...JEW ,OR Catholic, and anyone else besides THEM down there. That same hatred/Hate-Mongering that was fought against during WW2,is hypocritically practiced RIGHT HERE in the Good 'Ole U, S of A-
My Father and Grandmother were ethnic Germans from Transylvania. It is a beautiful area. The Germans ( Saxons) called it Siebenbuergen And they were know as Translyvanian Saxons
Thanks for sharing Adam. Love tagging along with you on these backroads. Loved that town Hot Coffee, Mississippi and the little store. Takes me back when times were slower and simple was best. Your videos are a breath of fresh air from all the madness going on in the world. 👍❤️
Especially enjoyed this day backroads trip through Mississippi. I’ve have family connections to Clinton. Didn’t know we had a town named Hot Coffee. Pretty neat town. I’m a life long Mississippian . Love seeing small towns never knew were around. Stay safe and keep being joyful.
I evacuated Florida through the back roads area to beat the massive traffic jams during one of the last hurricanes. Some very sad areas. Very spooky. So much poverty. People who need help badly.
You were in my neck of the woods! The lady that owns McDonald's Store in Hot Coffee is my cousin, and my oldest daughter lives in Richton. There are lots of interesting places around here--thanks for visiting! Hugs, Kim from South Mississippi
I’m so glad you’re doing another backroads cross-country road trip again, Adam. Really enjoyed your previous ones! Love it especially how you present the places you visit and how you always managed to find good Americana treasures. Perfect watch for a weekend morning. Look forward for the rest of this series!
Thank you so much. My Mother was raised in Transylvania,Louisiana. My grandfather was the custodian at the Elementary School. The farmhouse was a grocery store many years ago. Thank you for the wonderful memories your video provided.
I had never heard of it till my uncle passed away there. They were dirt poor but happy and friendly. Spent their food stamps on feeding everyone who traveled there when he passed.

Hot Coffee ,Miss is where Stella Stephens is from , I have some friends that live there .. Thanks for showing it and Snuffys used to drive truck and Snuffys was where I got my supplies
So happy to see one of your new adventures show up on my channel! I love small town exploring but haven't been able to travel very far for a number of years so, I am living vicariously through channels like yours and during these crazy times, covid, crappy weather, social unrest and so-forth, you, are my sunshine, my only sunshine, on a dark and stormy day, thank you so much Adam! Big cheers to ya from the Wet Coast of the great Canadian PNW :)
@WadeLife don't know where you have been, but......Adam has been uploading daily since the 2nd of this yr. He took a break for a while, yes; however, he is back and not recording his Disney content.
Thanks for taking us along with you on this road trip. I love seeing these backroad small towns, it's sad seeing these small mom and pop stores shut down but they are definitely cool to see!
Used to travel thru Transylvania often from MS. to AR. Car broke down in middle of night once there. Another trip in daytime, I did get a souvenir red T-shirt with Transylvania and the bat.
I love traveling the back roads and the country roads of America, seeing new places, seeing new things and meeting new people too. Do it as much as I can and if funds allow. I own an RV, (not a trailer). My favorite book is called "Blue Highways: by Least Heat Moon. Yes, that's a real name of a real person who traveled 13,000 around the U.S and wrote a book about it. "Blue" highways are the blue lines on a map that are secondary or back roads. And I love this video and want to see more.
My commute takes me past Snuffy's and I probably passed through there about an hour before you did. Snuffy's used to be a gold mine back in the day because everyone in George County, MS would drive across the state line to buy beer because George is still a dry county. Thankfully the police department in Wilmer shut down years ago so the speed trap no longer exists.
I love when you make videos like this. I've always lived in NYC but I could see myself living in a small town that has that "classic Americana" feel. Thank you for showing us your travels and off the beaten path/road sites! Hope your cross country trip to LA is going well and that you're staying safe.
Great job in the service of mankind. People outside the US enjoy this stuff equally. Adam is preserving the history of Americana in real-time. Stay safe n blessed Adam!
I love traveling thru those small old school rural towns in Mississippi and thru the South, I from Memphis Tennessee but when comes travel I love site see thru those old small Mississippi towns. Very enjoyable!
Love seeing this! I haven't been to those southern states. This is America! Love seeing Mama Woo and your Uncle. Glad you got to spend quality time with them. As we get older, family is so important especially after losing a dear member like I have. Your Mom and Dad are precious, enjoy seeing them and your travels, keep up the great vlogs, I love them all!
Hey my brother great to see you doing what you do best covering the back roads nobody does it better looking forward to some chats with the animals your the one america follows take care my brother !!!😀
You have a super soothing voice. You could do a podcast talking about random stuff and I would listen. I often pop on your video while doing chores around the house and even without the visuals it's entertaining.
My first time seeing your video Adam I know it’s last year one but I still love 💕 it I have always wanted to do this drive around older back roads and looking at old buildings in small towns I live in South Louisiana.Adam thank so much for share I truly have enjoyed your video.
I am catching up on your vlogs. I love theses traveling videos. I love to see the historic Places you go to. Also love the different states you travel through.
Ah yes! Adam The Woo at his best! This subscriber will always be thankful for the opportunity to tag along side Adam during his travels! His talent for finding these small towns across America ensures, in some small way, that the history of these off the beaten places will live on! Thanks Adam and as always stay safe and travel on my friend! Oh yes travel on indeed!
I'm sure i heard one of those cows say " I'm not to bad Adam, thanks for asking" lol, can't blame you nothing better than several cups of piping hot cafinated beverages 😊, love these vlogs Adam, Thankyou, love seeing the back roads, by the way from yesterday's vlog, I've never seen a road sign warning you of the blinding sun, ever 🌞
I love taking the backroads but don’t always have the time to take the long route. Thank you for taking the time so that we can enjoy these side adventures!
That red building next to the blue and white gas station in Ovett, MS used to be Miss Sippy's Country Cookin'. Loving the backroads, Adam. And yes, that train in Delhi was loud in my ears, too!
There is an artistic beauty to all these old towns & buildings. I would love to listen to some stories of these buildings. Such a beautiful trip so far Adam, I really enjoying it! Stay safe!!! 🌼
I am happy I stumbled onto and subscribed to your channel! I absolutely love it! I have never seen or even heard of canned possum nor have I heard of Hot Coffee, Mississippi! Too funny! Thank you for sharing your back road adventures with us! This really is great stuff!
If you ever come to Redmond, WA to explore. It would my hearts song if I could ever have the pleasure to take you out to get a pipping hot caffeinated beverage. You make me smile everyday. Thank you for being you💕
Love these videos, Adam. Would be great if you could share what route you've taken or maybe show a map so we could make the same trip and visit some of the same places one day.
The town of Transylvania was on LA state highway 65 north of I-20. Delhi, LA is on I-20 and Epps, LA is on LA state highway 17 north of Delhi. Hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing. Love to see your videos . Love those towns too. Nice and peaceful. Just could use loving caring people with substantial amount of income to live.
The town of "Hot Coffee" Mississippi is mentioned in the movie "The Coca-Cola Kid". First time I heard of the town and my family is from Mississippi. My grandfather owned a general store in Anse. He died back in 1984. It has been abandoned since then.
That river basin was just on the Science Channel the other night. Took over 6 years to build and took almost a year to set it up to simulate a flood. You're correct about the numbers on the slabs.
Found your channel today. This video wakened many memories from my childhood. I've visited several of those places in Mississippi you showed. Made me happy to see them. Like you say... It's the little things.
Love all the abandoned gas stations, but where do people fuel up? At least Hot Coffee has an open store. So many of these places look like cutscenes from Fallout. I agree with you about the vibe though. Thanks for these roadtrip videos, Adam. They are some of my favorites on TH-cam
I just love these kind of videos, (No Rush) have a in depth look at old forgotten towns in parts of America. Thank you for exploring and sharing with all of us.
Love this stuff. Love this county and it's history. Adam always seems to inspire us to get out once again on another road trip! Now, we gotta see Hot Coffee!
Enjoyed your videos of your travels. I work as a construction inspection which takes me through out the state of Virginia. I always travel the back roads after work exploring little towns, state parks, lakes, and reading our road side History Signs. I glad to see someone else doing the same. Keep your travels videos going. God Speed Your Travels. Sincerely, Mr. Mark T.
I love these small backwoods towns. Although I have traveled through most states, I've never been to the deep south. This really reminds me of North eastern Ontario, Canada. So many backwoods towns. Many you can't find on any maps. Some so small they still have wooden bridges and dirt roads. Thank you for uploading this video! Out of the two places I've mentioned I'd much rather have lived in some of these towns in you're video. I'm not a huge fan of Canadian winters.. lol
I can see why, I left the upper mid western US in the 60's to escape the snow and blizzard conditions for the sunshine of Las Vegas, Nevada. And I have never regreted the move.
Love your cross-country jaunts, especially to the west! It’s fun to track your progress on Google Earth and occasionally use the street view feature to find on Google what you document. Also, keeping my fingers crossed you make it to “Batuu West” in time for Life Day!
I would like to see more of these on back roads. This sure tells the story of the death of a better times. Like the stories of trains and drive-in theaters.
@@RaymondPoston I am up north, have heard there is one open here somewhere. I was hoping people still had them in the South, They were so much fun, and social distanced for today (if people stay in their cars).
Hello my friend be safe I got tickled when you were talking about the little things in life when you were drinking your coffee love these back road edventures lots to see in Texas as well love shamrock.
At "Hot Coffee" I expected to see "Old Blue" snoozing just inside the front door ready to greet customers with a wagging tail as they walked in and stepped around him . . ..
Most enjoyable! I am wondering now if some of these sad little echos of towns might have a renaissance once rural wifi is improved? The recent work from home" model has revamped how things are done in a huge way so that people really can do their jobs just about anywhere. Someone with a job in Mobile or Birmingham could retreat to Hot Coffee and snag some cheap land and raise his or thiei kids in a place where they could have 4 dogs and a pony and run wild when they aren't glued to their phones and games. Breath a little. Skip the commute but drive in to the home office once or twice a month for in person meetings. It's beautiful there!
@@johngreen3543 Whoa, not yet. It still needs to clear the Senate and then hit his desk and then, of course, be set in motion! I'm completely and utterly for it, mind you. My beloved has been working on rocket ship navigation systems from home for 20 months so it absolutely can be done with flying colors. We don't have some dairy cows, a few horses, some geese, a couple of 4 x 4's and so on but if we were younger with kids at home . . .
I like many who have already commented enjoy every second of these abandoned/ back road adventures... My take and enjoyment from these videos is to respect and remember a simpler time for those that came before us and paved the way for us... Thanks for the amazing video Adam
I have to admire Snuffy who, back in the day, posted all of those “No Smoking” signs around his gas pumps. When I moved to Missouri I pulled into a Casey’s gas station to fill up and I noticed a staff member with a lit cigarette on a break leaning against the metal cage that holds all of the propane tanks for bbq grills. These are located about 20’ from the gas pumps. Oh well, nothing to worry about here!
HEY ATW... TODAYS VLOG IS PHENOMENAL WORK IN THE documentation of things almost forgotten. YOW! Hot Coffee seems like it is on the verge of disappearing. Your work will endure into the future and accessed by many like -minded people.
It was always my dream to come to your Country from UK and travel the road you are travelling. I love these videos and your comments. I am fascinated by it all and really enjoy it. There is nothing better than see History and how people lived.
Hey man. Good to see you in my hometown. I live in Mobile, Al and have been to Snuffy Smifs out there in Wilmer, Al. Grandparents from Leakesville, Ms so I’ve been all over the area. 👍
It is the simple things in life as one grows older that become more important!! Love cool, crisp mornings!!! Thanks Adam!!
I’ve seldom seen Adam as excited as he was when he discovered Hot Coffee, MS. 😊
The best!
Right??

As we get older, family is so important especially after losing a dear member like I have. Your Mom and Dad are precious, enjoy seeing them and your travels, keep up the great vlogs, I love them all!
Hey my brother great to see you doing what you do best covering the back roads nobody does it better looking forward to some chats with the animals your the one america follows take care my brother !!!😀
You have a super soothing voice. You could do a podcast talking about random stuff and I would listen. I often pop on your video while doing chores around the house and even without the visuals it's entertaining.
That might happen one day . Who knows
During the first 15-20 seconds I could of been fooled if someone told me he previously was an announcer for Nascar, PGA, or a baseball team
He's got that radio host voice!
My first time seeing your video Adam I know it’s last year one but I still love 💕 it I have always wanted to do this drive around older back roads and looking at old buildings in small towns I live in South Louisiana.Adam thank so much for share I truly have enjoyed your video.
Hi Angel 👋🏻
Seeing those pumps reminded me when you had to crank the handle to reset the counter before pumping.
I had forgotten about that.
I am catching up on your vlogs. I love theses traveling videos. I love to see the historic Places you go to. Also love the different states you travel through.
Hi Felisha 👋🏻
@@MarkWilliams-bh1to Hello
@@felishagagnon9427 How are you
Only Adam would stop by the road and document a busted piano in a ditch! LOL! Love all you do Adam! Thanks.
Hot Coffee, Mississippi goes right along with Two Egg, Florida....maybe you can soon find the city of Toast??? Be safe, enjoying the trip!
The city of “Burnt Toast” would be funny
@@GregsVlog If it's there Adam will find it😆
1:21 watching this cool crisp sunrise 🌅 I love traveling too! Watching this with a piping hot beverage ☕️
You're right! I heard it too!
I love taking the backroads but don’t always have the time to take the long route. Thank you for taking the time so that we can enjoy these side adventures!
It's good to see small town life, may someday we can all go back to it.
Adam is the best when it comes to the back roads. Showing us the old but beautiful old towns love love it.
That red building next to the blue and white gas station in Ovett, MS used to be Miss Sippy's Country Cookin'. Loving the backroads, Adam. And yes, that train in Delhi was loud in my ears, too!
Grew up pascagoula now in commifornia.
Thank u Adam u videos always make me happy your overall approach and light hearted is something we all should strive for. Keep on keeping on!!!
Hi 👋🏻 😊
I could watch this kind of content all day long. Thanks, Adam!
Hope you liked ol’ Snuffy’s in Wilmer. It’s been there a very long time! #Mobilegal
If you ever come to Redmond, WA to explore. It would my hearts song if I could ever have the pleasure to take you out to get a pipping hot caffeinated beverage. You make me smile everyday. Thank you for being you💕
I’m enjoying your videos across our great country! Love the old train station! Loving the freight train! I’ve been to Shreveport great town!
Hi Jesse 👋🏻
Love these videos, Adam. Would be great if you could share what route you've taken or maybe show a map so we could make the same trip and visit some of the same places one day.
The first of this was on why 98 west of Mobile. Same for the next 3 towns in Miss.He may have continued on 98?
The town of Transylvania was on LA state highway 65 north of I-20. Delhi, LA is on I-20 and Epps, LA is on LA state highway 17 north of Delhi. Hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing. Love to see your videos . Love those towns too. Nice and peaceful. Just could use loving caring people with substantial amount of income to live.
Hi Momma 👋🏻
The town of "Hot Coffee" Mississippi is mentioned in the movie "The Coca-Cola Kid".
First time I heard of the town and my family is from Mississippi. My grandfather owned a general store in Anse. He died back in 1984. It has been abandoned since then.
Amazing! Keep up the good work Braxton! Small towns rule!
So many lost memories in those small towns. I love these vlogs. Safe travels.
love videos of old abandoned places.makes you remembet the good days.keep up the good work.
Hi Joyce 👋🏻 😊
That river basin was just on the Science Channel the other night. Took over 6 years to build and took almost a year to set it up to simulate a flood. You're correct about the numbers on the slabs.
Mt. Olive, MS. Home of Steve "AIR" McNair, MVP QB of the Titans~ RIP bro
Love the story on the possum can at Hot Coffee. They definitely have a sense of humor about themselves.
Fuel up at neighboring towns
I just love these kind of videos, (No Rush) have a in depth look at old forgotten towns in parts of America. Thank you for exploring and sharing with all of us.
Love this stuff. Love this county and it's history. Adam always seems to inspire us to get out once again on another road trip! Now, we gotta see Hot Coffee!
its history. its its its its its - not IT'S (DUH!)
I can't believe that you didn't get the Hot Coffee Mississippi mug! Loving this series.
It is the simple things in life. Making Memories.
I love this road trip and old small towns back to your orginal self!
Love your cross-country jaunts, especially to the west! It’s fun to track your progress on Google Earth and occasionally use the street view feature to find on Google what you document. Also, keeping my fingers crossed you make it to “Batuu West” in time for Life Day!
Greetings out of Africa - I love this video and your motto: "It's the simple things..." Great way to see the real America - Thanks for sharing!
I would like to see more of these on back roads. This sure tells the story of the death of a better times. Like the stories of trains and drive-in theaters.
Yes, are there any drive in theaters left in the deep south?
@@pinkiesue849 Where? I live near Starkville, MS. I haven't seen any for years now.
@@RaymondPoston I am up north, have heard there is one open here somewhere. I was hoping people still had them in the South, They were so much fun, and social distanced for today (if people stay in their cars).

I like to think that Adam drives around in the A-Team van… or maybe KITT… perhaps Speed Buggy.
I can picture him driving around in a white van.

Hello my friend be safe I got tickled when you were talking about the little things in life when you were drinking your coffee love these back road edventures lots to see in Texas as well love shamrock.
You know your in a very small town in MS when I've never heard of them and I live on the Coast (15 min east of Biloxi, 30 min west of Mobile, AL.)
Wish you could have snoop around in some of these abandoned buildings 😎👍
Hi Sally
At "Hot Coffee" I expected to see "Old Blue" snoozing just inside the front door ready to greet customers with a wagging tail as they walked in and stepped around him . . ..
Thanks for visiting our state of Louisiana!
Most enjoyable! I am wondering now if some of these sad little echos of towns might have a renaissance once rural wifi is improved? The recent
work from home" model has revamped how things are done in a huge way so that people really can do their jobs just about anywhere.
That rural wifi will be improved because the money is there to do it. Thanks to Biden's infrastructure legislation signed into law.
Oh well, nothing to worry about here!
grady used to set his cigarette onm a 55 gal drum of flammable roller wash at omni press
🔥Cigarettes and flammable liquids are so overrated 🔥
Love the tours of the back roads you do Adam showing all these hidden Jem's of America so Cool 😎👍
That abandoned gas station has some nice stanchions.
HEY ATW... TODAYS VLOG IS PHENOMENAL WORK IN THE documentation of things almost forgotten. YOW! Hot Coffee seems like it is on the verge of disappearing. Your work will endure into the future and accessed by many like -minded people.
Someone should name their band “hotcoffeemississippi”. Although they would have to keep it clean and the volume low if playing in HC, MS. ☕️
It was always my dream to come to your Country from UK and travel the road you are travelling. I love these videos and your comments. I am fascinated by it all and really enjoy it. There is nothing better than see History and how people lived.
Do it!
Remember the good ol days when Adam would climb the h2o tower and put his sticker up?
Awwww yes
That’s a younger man’s pastime.
Hey man. Good to see you in my hometown. I live in Mobile, Al and have been to Snuffy Smifs out there in Wilmer, Al. Grandparents from Leakesville, Ms so I’ve been all over the area. 👍
