It's an incredible design, and you are definitely right on the halfs for new or future collectors being priced out of fulls...I would look at the mintages though (not that I have as I didn't buy this, but what I mean is the half collector market will only ever support the lowest key coin mintage numbers at a fat profit).
I ended my modern proof collection with the Jubilee because Charles is on this, I don't regret it. Stunning coin but just that design is a little bit too much for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the Jubilee at the time but I actually think this makes it more of a 'restrained' classic, and do really like it now!

I think its a fair point on the lowest key coin - I think these will be priced around the £500 mark when the dust settles in the mid term, expect them to stay low in price whilst the flippers scrap it out! I have spoken to a lot of people who have stopped with the Queen and I get it tbh. I think both this and the Jubilee will both do very well. Thanks for stopping by.
That is one glorious coin, & understandable where you pushed the boat out, maybe not to the point of cash flow problems though, but it is a once in a blue moon occasion. I hope all your half sovereigns grade to 70 & you can sit back & relax for a number of years.
I lost the plot a little - cue the results video! We both know I could never relax haha but I certainly am slowing down :)
I bought a full and 1/2 Sovereign. They are beautiful. But I only bought one of each. You will not regret this long term even though it hurts financially now.
I agree, sometimes you have to make power plays, Ill grade them keep 10 and slowly trickle the others out to new homes :) Thanks for stopping by
Also you might not want to instantly dismiss the first KCIII G&D proof sovereigns.
I wish mine would just arrive, it’s been nearly two months and customer service ignore me.
Looking forward to mine coming they look better and better every time I see them think in a few years as they disappear from the market they will go up in value
I expect a slow burn as the flippers get hold and then the price will work itself up.
Shaun, if you are ever struggling to get proof 5 coin sets or anything that's high in demand you can try giving me a shout. I got 3 of these 5 coin sets and I'm in zero rush to sell, grading them all and sticking in the vault for a few years.........and no way should you be waiting in the RM que-it with the other muggles.......no offense muggles
I don’t know about the anniversary Sovereign but I’m thrilled to order some Chuck Britannia’s. Just happy there’s a change on the coins in 70 years. 😄
I was actually pleasantly surprised about the look of it - I was expecting something not that good but I think he looks good on the brits especially the silver!

I went for the five coin set, £5 BU and Piedfort.
Hello! I am never sure on the BU and the Piedfort coins myself, saying that had I bought anything else the wheels would ahve fallen off my business as I wouldn't have been able to buy anything!
I don't want to think about how much I spent last year on proof sovereigns 😅 If only they were as easy on the pocket as they are on the eyes 😄 Got the single and waiting for the 3coin set . Have to say my favourite sovereign last year was the strike on the day, I've high hopes for it in the future 🤞

I am taking it lighter, there will be more videos as I a doing less on the coins but it means I can put out some of the older style videos.
It's an incredible design. I think having seen the design in a few places I prefer the proof 22 as it's a bit less busy. I thought these might have sold out quicker but can see them being popular as time goes on

You really went for it Shaun wow the cash flow must have taken a hit but as they say fortune favours the brave. I have just had a 2017 graded and got a PF70 not sure whether to sell and buy bullion. I have noticed and correct me if I am wrong that there has been a lot of graded coins up for sale and not shifting. Some of mine never moved even with price reductions.
Its always a tough market this time of the year! congrats on the PF70. The market tends to pick up around March/April but Im not sure if it will be slow heading into rough waters.

However I will only be getting the 1/2 and 1/4 Sovereigns.
Magnificent! Thanks for sharing your early arrivals. My full and half are on their way tomorrow and then they'll head off to Numistacker for grading. So many nay-sayers lurking on the SilverForum saying the mintages are too high or they prefer 2022 Jubilee Sovs. I think they'll regret not picking up a few. For the serious collector, they are a must have just like the Sovereign specials and low-mintage years (have you seen how many 2014's full Sovs or 2015 5th portrait half Sovs were released - next to nothing).
As a investor in coins, this coin ticks every box. The mintage is pretty low in comparable terms, the design is awesome, its the first of a new monarch. The price was higher than I would have liked but not out the bounds taking the biscuit. I don't really follow the nay sayers everyone has an opinion but from experience of trading these should do well (doesnt mean they will..) Time will tell and I hope you coins grade well :)
Mine arrived today. Full sov was perfect but half has tiny frosting breaks and small scratch on Charles's cheek. Scrutinise your halves with a good loupe. You might find a number of disappointments.
Some say the piedforts do not do well when grading however, with such a low mintage I am betting on the striking being good.
Im undecided on the pied forts it was outside of my comfort design

Hi Shaun I graded the 2014 a bit disappointing as it got a 69 I was sure it would get a 70 just goes to show you cannot take anything for granted with NGC and I also paid for conservation so not best pleased but hey ho the 2017 did me proud so mustn't grumble.
Nothing is a given sadly. Ive got a 2005 coming back that I think is a 65! its a proof :/
Nice , I was one of the first in queue at the R.M release .. if I remember correctly .. still no shipping or dispatch details yet , I agree with you on this .. that's why I went for the half .. will be my first ever , but with a single mintage limit of 3,000 together with the price , I think they will do well ..
The R.M are running out of time if they are going to release the bullion version of this , as well as the 2023 King Charles sovereign ...
im waiting on the 5 set from the Mint but have received all 25 I purchased from other dealers :) I think it has all the hall marks of a £500 coin in the making.
Thought the bullion release had been confirmed for pre-orders? 2023 proof will come soon I'm sure (just before Coronation?).

@@chrisb.h4605 I think gold has a bright future in terms of price but like all assets it will go up and down. I will sit on these coins to the £500 mark.
Did you think my price for the 20 krona was high or about right. Hard to gauge but it has potential for someone who collects them.
Facebook me the price again, I would need to research it. I thought it would grade better it got a 63 right?
Your lucky you have them in hand, I have a 3 coin set and full sov on order which I'm not likely to see to send of Feb even though I ordered on release day
These came from dealers - I am still waiting on the 5 coin set from the Mint - I have pretty much forgot about it annoyingly!
@@shaunoliver1703 I tried for the 4 coin set but annoyingly the mint decided to suspend my account on launch day so couldn't order so went to another dealer. But the coin does look good, can't wait to see it in the flesh.
@@the_islandstacker I am a huge fan of this coin - I do think it might struggle with grading mind you. Its a shame you missed out on the 4 coin set I think the double will do ok.

@@the_islandstacker Every time the different design bullion sovereign comes out I have every intention of buying and then dont - I want to say yes but from experience probably not :(

Hi Shaun, yes agreed it is a stunning coin and future classic dare i say. I have the full sov, but here is a heads up to you and anyone else, my coin seems to have a very slight mark between the C and H of Charles. I suspect quite a few will have unfortunately, Regards.
I do think there will be more issues with this design. Its a very intricate design. We shall see - can you get a replacement?

Would be interesting to know if anyone else has noticed any issues with their coin(s). Like you said Shaun its an intricate design, but the mark i have noticed is not on the busy side.
@@albertboulderwardthe3rd590 I’m pretty sure when you get it from the royal mint they have a return slip should you want to send it back/replace. I’m not sure if the royal mint make more than the limit and then destroy the extras.
The 2014 one 20th Brit. Think I will struggle to break even.

Its a nice design but I refused to get involved due to the prices, felt like a huge cash grab!
It was a cash grab but that doesnt mean it wont do well (or at least thats my view)

good luck - it's a bet tied to gold too. you paid 375 gbp per sovereign or half sovereign ? that's not a lot over spot for full sovereign is it?
375 for halves. They are not cheap coins! I feel the benchmark is the other special year designs alot of them trade hands at £500 :). Spot is less relevant in this type of coin, consider it the bargain basement bottom as Ive paid pretty much double spot so in theory I can lose 50% of my investment :)
@@shaunoliver1703 Spot is inching up anyways. And smaller coins always have big premium. There are people like me who will pay for them in the NGC holder If the date is significant for family or self. I try not to buy much modern. If you ever come across the 1980 gold Saddam Hussein medal or the 2020 Somalia Donald Trump gold coin, please contact me

Its getting tough for a lot of people and its something that does worry me. I don't think you will go far wrong I just dont like the Quarter personally.
@@shaunoliver1703. I kinda thought the standard 2022 quarter sov with the queen on it, would match the 2022 Charles one. (I was wrong) 😡

On the one hand you wont go far wrong with that approach on the other you wont go far right either as you will miss alot of opportunities.
@@shaunoliver1703 yeah thats fair point but i dont have a huge disposable income i only started buying gold and silver 6 months ago and been on benefits so 1 kg of silver and 2 half sovs is good in my book......i just got a new job in security so i hope i will be able to save decent amount now

Thats fair enough - There is something for everyone in the coin world, there isnt really right or wrong just preferences and circumstances :)
