I’ve been at stereo amp and tv repair on off for past 30 years and I still scratch my head trying to understand circuits with schematics. However I have never had a mentor or teacher, just book reading and exploring is my teacher. Props to you sir, I wish you the very best with this tricky repair.

Before we do the BIOS, try to remove the keyboard, disconnect it from the board, then disconnect both batteries, CMOS and the big battery, look for 3.3V on the keyboard connecter on the main board side, and short it to the ground with the charger plugged in. Maybe the Keyboard power button is not working too, very common problem in new lap tops with power button on keyboard.
Hi Sorin. i have similar programmer & i used it since long time , it's very good, but it's complicated sometime as i have to find schematic to map KB connectors for unlisted boards , however you are getting error because you didn't connect the usb cable from the programmer board to the laptop for proper grounding ,... always learn from you Boss !!
2 diode in line to power will do the trick ....kkkkk my minipro work ok like that.. and don't overshoot the EEPROM, i just upgrade to xgpro from the same manufacturer
One trick is to use Kapton tape on the reverse side to hold the components in place. You can also surround that chip with Kapton tape to protect the components around that quad pack.

You found another bad part, but it is troubling what caused all the damage. I think you'll solve it if you continue on. Seems likely the next step would be to reprogram the BIOS though. I'll be waiting for part 3. 🙂
At 19:00 Vertyanov JIG programmer I have that Original IO Programmer, and it is quiet good. I using it for IO Programming Keyboard testing and EID LCD Panel EEPROM Firmware reading and programming.
My 2 cents is that the BIN you wrote on the ITE chip doesn't match the BIN on the EEPROM chip, so it doesn't "know" how to respond to the power button being pressed...I THINK. Really curious to see how this turns out.
I was thinking of a spike. But more in the direction of a power surge, lightning or a faulty power supply. Since it's on the 3.3V rail it could even be damaged in stand by mode.
Greetings Sorin, during programming I would connect a second USB cable labeled GND. It serves to unify the potential of the board with the programmer. The same cable is used as for connecting the control PC.just plug it into the USB on the repaired board.
The program in SIO is also written in the bios and should be extracted from it. Then you will be sure that you have the right program guaranteed. I use the laboratory power suply to power up repairing laptop. It helps when I can see what is happening with the device on the current draw.
@Mr Guru Yes the KB connector has the ground pin but the programmer is connected true the chip. The fact that the designer of the programmer put this connector there and directly described it in the manual is not just for fun. SVOD informs about this during every programming directly in the software, why? quote from the manual Vertyanov: "Connect the cable from the GND connector on the programmer to any free USB connector on the motherboard. So, we connect the ground of the programmer and the MB. The shorter will be this cable - the better and more reliable."
@Mr Guru yes, but he couldn't program the first SIO, so he lost time and money, so the success rate of programming is 50%. But it's definitely not worth it to connect a second cable and be sure that I'm doing the thing as it was designed. ;-)
Many times if you download bios file it comes with bios and ec rom, i think you need to flash them both to have the same version. if you mix from a different version it may not start. happened to me a while back. however with this much damage on the board maybe its not that. if ec and bios and charging ic works you should have at least charging light, if you dont get charging light maybe some signal is missing, you need to check ac detect ac on pwr good etc... maybe some logic gate somewhere or transistor switch got burned as well.
I did had a flashing charging light before programming the EC, if charging is controlled by the EC then it will charge only if the software is working properly
@@electronicsrepairschool yes so you have to find bios with matching ec file. if you flash the bios and still no light then it doesnt match maybe you have to look on some asian sites if they have bios together with matching ec. or if still possible extract booth from the original file from the acer website.
Even if the bios was missing or corrupted, the fan should spin and there should be some life, then you could do a bios recovery with a USB drive, and a combination key press.
A little offtopic, but is there some sort of software image stabilization enabled on the stereoscope camera or it's software? While the image of the board itself is fairly stable something keeps moving the white silkscreen and some other areas. I guess the image would be much better / more stable if it would be turned off.
Hi sorin. this vertyanov programmer is better than svod3. svod4 turned out to be a failure. It is very important to connect the second USB socket of the programmer to the usb of the motherboard to get GND. You programmed without GND. Greetings from Poland
Hi, I have the original Vertyanov and now I bought SVOD4. For me, I was quite disappointed with how everyone praised SVOD3.I'm starting to think that SVOD 4 was unfortunately just a waste of money.

I commented when I first saw this laptop with the damaged USB hub & SIO... Possible it had a high voltage discharged into it with a "USB killer" device
Vertyanov also programing the KBC via KB connector... I have both the original Vertynov and SVOD 4, and then I am disappointed with SVOD. Vertyanov works better for me when it comes to KBC programming. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I'm not sure.
same issue happened to me.. i change shorted components and other one became short then i change other component then other component is getting short... it is really ass pain sometimes
Ask the Russian on the "HamRadio Tag" YT account, he had many similar cases and mostly it was overvoltages via USB from the external power supply of the external USB drive or ground loops between the USB NTB and the connected device with its own power supply.

Sorin why not use a copper wire bent in a square attached to a solder iron to remove the chip. I think someone showed this don't remember. If you have connectors near-by it is saver.
are you sure the keyboard is good and the powerbutton actually "reaches" the sio? i think i'd try to keep it disconnected, check the sio pinout and short it manually
as you have the schematic you may check on EC the EC RSMRST 3.3V, which mean the EC is ok and ready to start, then PM_PWRBTN sent to PCH , and get back from PCH the SLP_S3, and you can know if PCH is faulty or not , some reference i always use drive.google.com/file/d/1BM8p89VxyWYIllPYO_at63opJItkh1ho/view?usp=sharing

Good day Sorin! Original Vertyanov programmer/software has some sort of copy-protection. Non-original programmer can flash random data to the SIO chip when used with original Vertyanov's software. Author of the original programmer has video on TH-cam where he shows how this copy protection works. Maybe this is issue this time.

Sorin. You should really ordered the original not the copy (SAS) from Vertyanov. This is a copy of Vertyanov Programmer. Anyway you can unlock the copy for 50$ that legitimates the programme to the original Software. "Successor" is the new programmer from him and looks little bit different.

Hi Sorin, for bios programmer you have selected , you need 1.8V adapter otherwise you will damage the bios chip
I think i have the same bios programmer but havnt used it yet. Do you have a link or more info about 1.8v adaptor?
yes it's better. I programmed a couple of them without reduction, but it's definitely not healthy for them.

You can program the bios using crisis recovery procedure... usb drive fn+esc ( this also can spot a fan spin )

Try to check the gate and source of all Mosfets for shorts.

if we need to program 1.8v bios chip with CH341, we need 1.8v adapter, or need to buy latest model that have voltage selection switch

I think you can use lemelt solder jn the io chip. Northridge fix uses them in heat sensitive components.
