    Relatively new MSFS2020 simmer here and the Citation CJ4 is absolutely my favorite sim airplane. I use it exclusively as it seems to be the best modeled jet in the sim. It was great and most informative to review this flight and I understood quite the vast majority of what you did and why by your oustanding dialog. 🙂

    Nice video Ryan! :) Quick question, during the decent you did "flight plan sequencing" from point CAGNU which is a FAP, and you got vectored more or less 1-2nm before that point when you were cleared for the appr. EASA has regulation that during vectors for RNP app, last point that you can be vectored to is IF (KUYRE point in this case). That is not the regulation per FAA?

    Hi Ryan, congrats for your youtube channel, it's AMAZING!!! I am a software developer to helicopters on Lockheed Martin Prepar3D and MSFS2020 flight simulator. I don't know much about airplanes but I would like to understand better about the performance of the Cj4 engines. The avionic system of Cj4 on MSFS2020 is very good but I can't understand if the flight dynamics are realistic or not, so Just one question: if we are on fly with flaps and spoiler to zero and the two engines on IDLE, is it possible that the power of the engines is enought to mantain the airplane stabilized just only with a little bit of trim? Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand what I saying Thanks again and sorry for the banal question. Enjoy!👍😊

    • @TheRunwayRyan
      @TheRunwayRyan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To an extent, yes. It wouldn't so much be the engines powering the airplane, so much as the remaining energy that the airplane had from being at cruise. This is actually a demonstration that we do in the simulator during training. At cruise, you move the thrust levers to idle. The airplane does slow down eventually, but it takes a shockingly long time.

    Great Video Ryan! You mentioned that the CJ4 has an automatic radar. Is that automatic in the tilt axis? Can you elaborate?

    • @TheRunwayRyan
      @TheRunwayRyan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is indeed automatic in the tilt axis. I mentioned that I was going to explain it in the video, but then I got busy an never did. Once selected on in the automatic mode, the radar sweeps a few times, filters out ground clutter, and then basically gives you a composite image pretty similar to XM, except it is real time radar. At least that's how I understand it! It really is a great feature. Pretty much set it and forget it.

    On take off after you sounded out "air speed alive", it sounded to me that you said "cross check at 60". If so, what does that mean?

    • @TheRunwayRyan
      @TheRunwayRyan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Airspeed alive means that the airspeed indicators are showing airspeed, so you know everything is working in that system.
      You do a cross check to compare the left to right airspeed indicators and make sure they match. They are two separate systems, so you check them against each other. Most airplanes I would say you do this at 80 knots. In the glass cockpit CJ’s, the logic inhibits certain warnings/cautions at 70 knots so usually it is done at 70. The CJ4 accelerates so quickly, and I was already looking there at 60 that I decided to just do the cross check then, so I said “at 60”. This kept me from diverting my attention once more, or any longer to see the cross check.

    • @daywalker5458
      @daywalker5458 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRunwayRyan Got It...I looked up cross check and it always referred to flight attendants checking doors so that's why I asked you what you meant. Like I said, I am a newbie MS Flight Simmer. Well now that Cross Check is added to my takeoff / muscle memory to do. I now have:
      -- Takeoff Thrust Set
      -- Good Engines Check
      -- Air Speed Alive
      -- Cross Check
      -- V1 Speed
      -- Rotate
      -- Positive Rate of Climb
      -- Gear Up
      -- 400ft V2 plus 10
      -- Climb Thrust Reduce
      -- Flaps Up
      -- and Yaw Damper Engaged
      And I noted your often verfication three times of gauges across the console. Thanks guy! 👌

    • @TheRunwayRyan
      @TheRunwayRyan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hands down, no question asked, I prefer the Garmin. I will however mention that I’ve got about 800 hours with the Garmin and 150 with the proline, so there might be some experience bias there.

    • @alanmortensen4166
      @alanmortensen4166 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRunwayRyan Thanks - I've never used either. I come from a background of piston twins. The other comment I have is looking at the WX radar I wasn't concerned about the ice - especially with hot wings. Does the de-ice bleed degrade the performance significantly? I like your prudent approach and no ice is good ice.....

    • @TheRunwayRyan
      @TheRunwayRyan  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alanmortensen4166 Yes, it does make a noticeable impact on performance. Mainly when both the wing and engine anti ice are on. The engine anti ice on its own make a difference, but not as big. The CJ3+ and CJ4 both have quite a bit of excess thrust, so it doesn't impact these airplanes as much as some others. Other jets can flat out stop climbing at certain altitudes because of the impact of having anti-ice on.
