I’m from Eastern North Carolina. ECU has (for the most part) been a disappointment nearly every year. Playing in a mediocre division makes it even worse. No Pride 😂…. I noticed lots of purple clothing in the audience during the first half. By the 3rd quarter, they were all gone 😂 That’s a long drive (300 miles) to watch 2 hours of football.
Head Coach Ruffin was too fine a gentleman ( played football at East carolina ) to place the curse--but Alumni and old Fans have cursed our school Football program for being traitors. The Ding Dong Athletic Director ( Jeff Compher ) threw Ruff under the bus, trying to save his own job. Ruff, with Offensive Coach, Lincoln Riley, had winning seasons( went to some Bowl games) ( We beat some Triangle ACC teams). After Riley was hired by Olkahoma, Ruff had one , 5 - 6 season, and Compher's job was at risk, so he fired Ruff. So we wore our T-Shirts that said "Fire Compher" . The small plane flew over the football stadium with the trailing banner that said, "Fire Compher", and we finally got rid of Compher in 2018, and also the Chancellor ( for allowing it to happen) .. Since 2015, the older Alumni have boycotted the football games, greatly reduced our Donations, etc. The great thing is, Coach Riley in 2017 , hired Ruff as an Assistant Coach, and at lots more money than Ruff made at ECU , as Head Coach.
Charlotte beat two of the worst teams in ECU’s history lol. I would be surprised if Charlotte ever witnesses their program do anything that even comes close to the heights of East Carolina. That being said, this is a great direction for their program and I’m excited to for the future of collegiate athletics in North Carolina in general. Mike Houston has got to go, he is not FBS material. Biff absolutely fathers Mike Houston in football and it’s not even close.

Charlotte is on the rise. Stadium expansion incoming. Niners will run college football in this state when it is all said and done.
