I saw that early in week on news. I think you said you are in Texas. I know you guys were getting cold like we get up here. I think it’s going to be a cold winter.
The ONLY thing that DIES on those OLD Weil McClain gas heaters is the thermocouple. I changed mine twice in 25 years. Everything else in the McLain works for at least 25 years.
I see you have experience in Will Mclean boilers. I have one if I leave the front door open it works fine if I close the door the temperature it doesn’t exceed 140 even though I have it set for 200. What’s the problem?
I just had annual maintenance/cleaning four days ago. Since then the heat will not kick on, though my pilot is not out. The pressure gauge on the side is showing 5 psi. I’m assuming this is low from what I’ve read online. Any advice? Thank you 😊
Purge your system of air, and check the expansion tank by tapping on it with something metal. If it were to sound hollow, it is good. If it were to be filled with water, you will not hear a hollow sound, and needs to be replaced. Also check your pump.
Check safeties. Make sure they are all closed (electrically). May have push button, may need replaced. You can check with a meter set to continuity. You want them to be closed (you want them to ring across).

The door to the boiler room? If that’s the case maybe not enough combustion air. Front door of home, I’m not sure.

Check low water cutoff.

21 years doing oil and I’ve had a lot of smell calls. You’d be surprised the amount of people who put batteries on top of boiler at the flue pipe
I’ve got a pilot light but no heat

Please be clear on what you are doing.Explain everything you do.
