  • I woke up in the morning to see that last night there was an anomaly on the second stage of a Falcon 9 launch. Definitely looks like a fuel leak in the engine covering thingy. But the anomaly happened when the second stage engine failed to restart. The Starlinks are deployed in a lower than intended orbit. We don't know if this will affect other Falcon 9 launches going forward.
(Update: It looks like that the Falcon 9 launches going forward are being on hold until SpaceX & the FAA can do there mishap investigation.)
SpaceX confirmed that the second stage experience a liquid oxygen leak which later cause a RUD with the second stage engine relight. The Starlinks will be burned up in the Earth's atmosphere due to unable to increase orbit.

Wonder what they are using for 2nd stage fuel. NT04/MMH? or? Looks to be "icing up".

F9 Second Stage uses RP-1 (kerosene) and Liquid Oxygen

RP-1 and Liquid Oxygen (The ice building up is from a leak of liquid oxygen)
