I love this technique as well! The only thing I do differently ( after the paint is dried) is gently shave the paint off of all 6 sides of the cane with minimal waste. What this does is eliminate the straight lines you get when you put your pieces together to form one large sheet. It does make a big difference and allows you to use all of the sheet and gives it a more authentic stone look. I love the color scheme you used. Very pretty.

Hi! My name is Sherry. I’m new to polymer clay! I’m 53 years old and like you, I was blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom with my two beautiful daughters! Now that they have grown, I need to do something for myself along with making a good income to support myself. Your videos are helpful and inspiring. I will be opening up an Etsy shop once I have received my tax ID. I wanted you to know that I appreciate your knowledge and tips! Thank you!☺️

    Hi there!
I just found your videos on clay earrings and they are AMAZING! I’m starting my own small shop and you are so so helpful. I have a couple problems I’m running into and figured you were the right person to turn to.
    1. My clay is sticking to my acrylic roller. Every time I roll out clay I’m having to roll on top of wax paper because the clay sticks to the roller and messes it up. I’m using sculpey Premo clay. My roller won’t come 100% clean and is kind of foggy looking which I think is the problem.
    2. Have you experimented with resin and clay? Would love to see what you recommend with this.
If you have a video on these questions I would love to see it!

It does so much better if you tear the pieces instead of cut them. And then let the paint dry before smashing it into a cane. also before smashing it into a cane and before tearing the pieces put some silver leaf on it. Talk about a beautiful effect. If you have trouble smashing the pieces into a cane just drizzle a little bit of liquid polymer or liquid fimo over the pieces. Also if you lay the slices of the cane on a very thin piece of white clay, it makes the most translucent effect. I have made some beautiful pens like this and they look just like sea glass.

    • @RaisingNobles
      @RaisingNobles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi! I purchased the same alcohol inks that you linked below and noticed it says to not have near heat. I tried emailing them but there is no contact information. Have you had any issues with these near heat? I’m just a little nervous because I’m not sure why the instructions say that

i'm guessing thats for putting the entire bottle near heat...but i would contact the manufacturer if you are concerned

I bought an alcohol ink from hobby lobby but I see the warning “flammable” do you have to buy specific ones that are bake safe or just be cautious because it’s flammable?

    • @RaisingNobles

i'm not sure about that, i obviously didn't have an issue with mine and i know many people use the inks in their polymer clay creations. maybe it's flammable when wet? not too sure. maybe call the manufacturer?

I tried this technique with my Cernit translucent and white acrylic paint, however even after cutting and letting the slab to dry for a day, it was still very sticky and the slab crumbled when I was trying to roll it. I am so sad that I tried hours trying to reach the colours I wanted and conditioning that clay... What could be the problem?

Hi, I'm from Malaysia. I'm interested in making polymer clay earrings. But I haven't started yet, I still getting some information. May I ask a question? Which is when after cutting the polymer clay that the shape we want, then how about the left polymer clay? Because the polymer clay was mixed with other colors.

    • @RaisingNobles

You can try to use every bit by cutting out some studs. Or you can toss all the scraps in a pile, mix them together and hope you get a nice color ;-) you might be surprised. I’ve gotten some beautiful colors that way.

    • @RaisingNobles

It’s possible its because the paint isn’t allowing the pieces to stick together. In that case, I would suggest adding some liquid polymer clay to your pieces before you make your cane. It will help everything stick better. For some reason some paints seem to do that, I haven’t figured out why yet.

Alcohol ink is extremely flammable BUT polymer clay is baked so far below the flashpoint level that it's highly unlikely it will combust. If you're still concerned, let it dry before placing it in the oven. If you notice, she lets the clay dry before moving forward.
