- We will look at Dalio's early years and how he built a successful consulting business before the age of 30. This eventually led to creating his Hedge Fund and making him one of the richest people in the world.

Dalio got into a fist fight with his boss and then was fired. He then went on to start the quant fund from his bedroom and became the biggest quant fund in the world.

Interestingly, at 7:18 he used the word bet instead of investment, the fact that he then said they would lose their money could have had something to do with it.
Hedging is best for day trading, you Short and Buy at the same time, so 1 would be loss 1 would be win, you take profits from the wins and hedge the losses

Size is his constraint.

@@Eddie100official Size can be somewhat of a problem in this industry. The more clients you have, and thus the more money at risk, the more conservative and risk-averse you have to be. Medallion is a relatively small fund only catering to Rentec employees. Because of that they can take more risks and be much more experimental. There's a reason Rentec's other funds don't do nearly as well. How many clients would be happy letting a machine make literally all the investment decisions?
Simon's AUM is far far less than dalio
