  • This video contains my review of the Nalgene Guyotdesings stainless steel water bottle. The particular bottle I am reviewing is the "Backpacker" model. This durable bottle can be used for emergency cooking and water purification. It retails for around $30. After two and a half years of testing and use I would definitely recommend it to you.

    Just got one last night and saw your video this morning. The reasons you listed are the EXACT reason i bought it. Also, the taper design allows it to nestle into the Stanley Cook Set. Great video.

    Have carried stainless bottles for years. I recommend to anyone hiking to have a stainless cup of some sort to boil water. Great video. I like the wooden toggle idea for lifting and suspending.

    I can tell that you appreciate good quality gear. The Guyot Design SS Bottle and the MSR Stowaway Pot that I saw briefly are two thing I carry also. Both are rock solid. Good review!

    Hi, thank you much for this useful presentation, I searched something just like this to carry minimal modules in an damp proof container that I could possibly use on the fire too. Great

    A great review of a great bottle. I have a fish gag and use it as a hanger for this bottle to suspend over a fire or to move the bottle. The bottle fits snugly inside the Stanley cook pot. Thank you for sharing. Happy wandering. Paul :)

      no need brotha. the way the bottle lashes it's own lid on means those same grooves can be used to hang the bottle with fabricated cordage in the field in order to hang it over the fire. this actually is why this bottle is better than other bottles even ones designed for bushcraft and survival . other bottles need to use the method you mentioned but the design of this bottle allows you to leave that fish gag at home in a weight sensitive backpack/survival situation and still be able to hang it over a fire

    Good vid. Does this bottle fit down into a Stanley camp cook pot (which fits down into a stainless camp cup) ?

    Why the tapered shape toward the bottom? Still tryi g to decide which to buy the standard 38 or the tapered bottom 32 oz.

    The bigest problem with this Nalgene version is about it is made in China, don´t have same quality of the original triton Nalgene bottles made in USA, and i am not sure if it is 100% safe to use, what certifieds this bottle have? Whats quality control/tests, ISO, etc was made to comprove if it is 100% safe to use with food grade and cooking on fire?

    Good review, thank you. Could use a quick run of specs from the manufacture. Please make a follow up when you have field tested the bottle some more.

    Another easy way to suspend it over a fire besides the wooden toggle is to simply use a fish mouth spreader. Lots of youtube videos on how to do this and Dave Canterbury is one of many selling the spreaders. If you are going to carry some gear inside the bottle, the spreader fits inside too.. Nice review. thanks

    How is it holding up 8 years later?

  • @stockholm1752
    @stockholm1752 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nope. I want the standard 32 oz. (1 litre) straight walled design. I don't like this fluted version. Standards, please. Thanks for the vid.

      @Val_Halla777 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then simply buy the 38oz...this 32oz is one of the only SS bottles that nest inside Stanley Adventure Cookpot..and the taper also makes more ergo to hold while drinking. Heja sverige;)

      @@antknee_l5p292 sorry for the late reply, hopfully you didnt do what i did and throw a perfect bottle in the garbage, after a lot of looking i finally found out that it is weld flake ? I think im saying this right , anyways it the stuff on the weld inside of lip i got a new bottle and wash it really good. Wish i could have found something about this before i threw out a brand new bottle and wasted 26 bucks? Oh well i guess

    Love the container, steel quality is great.
    MAJOR problem with three of the four containers that I purchased was that they have a terribly poisonous smell around the gasket.
    We stopped using them after the first use for fear of cancer and/or birth defects. Also leaving us without a water storage midway through our expedition.
    I could not remove the smell from the rubber or plastic caps regardless of what detergents I washed the product with.
    Just terrible manufacturing quality control to let something like that out of the factory. Particularly given the type of consumer that is purchasing this product.
    Really disappointed.
    Regards,
    Order number 354481

      Both do the same job, however the Nalgene has the advantage of having that thick lip, where you can suspend it with paracord or wire and dip it into a stream or down into a well/tank, as well as suspending it by wire over a campfire.
