Burning EPS inside MGO SIP panel

  • Conventional EPS inside MGO SIP panel is not suppose to burn but rather shrink and mover over. This video shows how some EPS will actually catch fire. That is a pure kerosene flame.

    I have been considering building with MgO SIPs so Its good to see how the EPS reacts with direct flame, which is important when in comes to good construction such as junctions between walls, ceilings, windows or anywhere embers/fire might find a gap past the sheathing .
    Oxygen availability would also influence combustibility and how quickly fire could spread and i've seen panels with pre-cast hollow tunnels for services to run through, an electrical fire starting in one of those air filled tubes could be devastating

    So? The sheathing is supposed to provide fire resistance, not the EPS foam.

    Ofcourse polystyrene is not fireproof. Everybody knows it. That´s why you cover it with fireproof boards like MGO. This video is silly
