It’s 2am and I’m watching this. Quarantine really is changing me as a person...
Emma E same I cant find nothing good on Netflix and my boyfriend won’t get off call of duty
Am i late?
Lol
7 months later in second lockdown and I’m joining you...
The fact that this was written 9 months ago and we're still/again at home has some sad truth
That lasso work is freaking stunning!
Yes, who is that man actually?
W͓̽i͓̽n͓̽t͓̽e͓̽r͓̽ ͓̽ F͓̽a͓̽l͓̽l͓̽s͓̽ I believe his name is jimmy johnston
He's the one who played Will Parker in the live production of Oklahoma starring Hugh Jackman!
I played Will Parker 2 years ago at the King’s Theatre in Glasgow, and all I can say is that I had even 10% of that man’s talent!
Jimmy Johnston.
As a Texan, I can say that this is exactly what we do at every hoedown and hootenanny
What’s a hootenanny? Lol
A hootenanny is an adhoc hoedown that is smaller and more disorganized. It is also what we call German pancakes in the Midwest. I have no idea why.
I love that place
Sounds lit sign me up
What part of Texas. As a Texan myself I have never seen the cotton eyed Joe done this way. I've seen dancer dance like that but don't dress that way. In fact a friend of mine is in a group that swing dance like this
As a Texan, I have to say that this was phenomenal. It's not what we would do but it was beautifully choreographed and the dancers looked like they were having a blast.
i love that everyone on stage looks genuinely looks like they're having the time of their life
I watch this again and again when I'm feeling low. The happiness is contagious
Let's all appreciate this tribute to American country music legend Pitbull
who is the blonde woman at 0.35 secs?
🤣👏
😂😂
Lol 😂
Mr. Worldwide
This was phenomenal. So glad the camera choreography was on point too so I can really appreciate the dance.
Didn’t expect to see you here, lol

Same
Unpopular opinion from an American: I ADORE this, especially because it isn’t the cringey dance kids do at school dances but actual ballroom and it’s fun and new. They’re English, they’re using the stereotype to have fun on a dancing show. It’s amazing and they’re all phenomenal and talented
Tru
Iko 12th
That’s not unpopular
I'd be happy about the British mocking us if they didn't also think they're so damned superior to us and everyone else in the world.
I had a blast line dancing, circle dancing and square dancing in school. I was raised in the North and always loved this part of the US's history. I got a chance to experience it and was worth every sweat breakin, heart pumping minute. ❤️
Nobody:
Teen romance movies set in the South that have the love interests sneak out and go “somewhere I think you’ll like”:
You mean where the guy takes his sister....😂
@@sheezarai9066 3rd cousin 😎
Y’all like.
The lasso guy with the roundoff back handspring at the end was really impressive
Hey algorithm, you okay bro? What did I watch to make you think this was something to reccomend to me?
I mean you weren't wrong, but like, what?
🤣🤣🤣 Exactly, & quite enjoyable, lol!
Same!
Same, bruh, same.
TRUE
THIS
I love everything about this interpretation of "cotton eyed Joe". I am a college educated "hillbilly" from southern Missouri. I love classical music but I also like this. It represents, to me, the hard working independent settlers of our area who enjoyed life in whatever spare time they had.
"Hillbilly" and "educated" in the same sentence is an oxymoron.
Kevin's dancing just makes me smile in this! You can see how much fun he's having! But then again, you can see how much fun they are all having!
I've been a Texan for 70 years and have never seen the Cotton Eye Joe done like this! But, it was very entertaining! If course we thought all the British were like something out of a recency novel! Or Downton Abby! It's all fun! Loved the arrangement!
strictly come dancing is so lighthearted and fun when everyone’s on the dance floor, laughing and smiling 🥺
Oh!! They're gooooood!!!
This is when everything - band, singers, costume, set and dancers all work together to create a thing of joy and precision, punch and beauty!!!!!!
The dancers look like they're having the time of their lives! That was fun!
This is one of fave pro dances ever on strictly, I find it so satisfying how well the two songs mix together
Everyone is commenting on the dancers and British people's perception of Americans. Why is nobody taking notice of how amazing that one guy is with his lasso?!
Yeah how he kept up the the professional dancers and that laso work damb he is good great professional dance
Wonderful! True old-time Hollywood entertainment. The dancers have flair, energy, and charisma.
Blew the roof off that building.... love the energy. 💪💜
what other people think how Texas/ Alabama has parties
Oh yeah all Southerns dress like that . The only sad thing about this they don't even try to sound southern.
I know. It's ridiculous. There are many southern traditions that are very valued. it's just sad to see the world take those valued traditions and make a joke out of them.
Ayleen Ahumada No one dresses like the girls did...
St Jimmy I know I was going to say that I really hope no one in England actually thinks people from the south are like that. I'm from Ohio and I know that it's just a stereotype
I'm from Texas and I can tell you no one dresses like that unless it's rodeo time and girls don't dress like that period maybe the boots buts that's it
As a Brit i can pretty much say.... yes Americans this is how we see you (sorry)
Abigail Wildlife front bcfg

Abigail Wildlife Heh heh yeahh... its pretty accurate though.
Abigail Wildlife doesn’t every Brit fell the same way!?
Edit: sos I’m late
All is fair. In America, we think all Brits are like Downton Abbey.
Kevin Lew 😂
Psh. Please.
Americans pronounce some words wrongly for example you say ''udder'' instead of ''utter'' now i would have no way of knowing if you meant the thing cows have that milk comes from or if you meant uttering a word
@@nickydaviesnsdpharms3084
Oof.
Nicky Davies I can’t imagine ever having a problem with confusing the two, since sentences with the word “udder” are very different than ones with “utter”.
One of my favourite Strictly pro dances ever! So much fun
Same here
As an American (well, New York isn't exactly hoe-down central), I have to say I am incredibly impressed with this performance. When someone creates this amazing work, I'm not at all upset that this is how Americans are viewed. The Lindy Hop was fun to watch, everyone was having a good time, and the choreography/execution was impeccable (accent at the beginning could use some work, though). Great work, SCD!
Brings back memories of the Musical. Seven wives for seven brothers. Lovely musical.🤗🤗💕💕
I thought the same exact thing! Jump that Axe Gideon!
Native Texan here and I. FREAKIN'. LOVE. THIS. That's how y'all get down!
If you are indeed a a native Texan then you should know that the Taxas way to dance to the Texas way and everything else is BULL SHIT! Bob Wills is still the king.
When you are old enough to have seen Kevin dancing to this at the school disco!! Good to see him and Joanne doing so well.
Life would be so much more fun if we actually partied like this.
Find you some people to do it with! I've enjoyed every hoedown I've been to
Yea like music is on and ppl just naturally dance in the same way
No it wouldn’t, it would be annoying cause all the fat old people wouldn’t be able to keep up and would just get in the way
True
America: english people sit eating fish and chips all day and drink tea with the queen!!
England:
Yea America wins this one lol
who is the blonde woman at 0.35 secs?
In seaside towns they do eat fish & chips all day, our tourism relies on it
You say that like fish and chips isn't a gift from the gods
Torin Jones you make an excellent point
When you find out you are 0.07 percent american
who is the blonde woman at 0.35 secs?
As a German this looks more German to me than every German I've ever seen
Lmao my dumbass was sitting here thinking "how the hell can you be 0.07% American????" 😆😂
That's pretty much impossible given how young the country is lol
All of my Southern grand aunts probably just rolled in their graves knowing this is how their British (very distant) relatives think they lived 😂
🤣
@JW McCabe Only 10% of Americas population has 'British' origins, British being a bad term as there is no internationally recognised 'British' ethnicity. To put it plainly 'British' people do not exist your either Welsh, Scottish or English.
To expand on the 'distant relatives'
16% of Americans are German origins and 44% are Eastern European.
There is no 'Anglo-American' connection as people with even a hint of English origins make up a tiny minority of America's population. The only similarity between the two nationalities is they both kinda speak the same language and even then the number of English speakers in America is shrinking and Spanish is set to be the dominant language within 20-30 years.
So no the British and Americans are not even distant relatives infact the USA and Russia are more closely related and The UK is more closely related to Iceland (via Denmark)
@@torinjones3221aren't the English also german origin? The Germanic saxons pushed the natives to the fringes (Scotland, Wales and Cornwall)
Never seen anyone dance like that to Cotton Eye Joe. I did enjoy it.
as silly as this dance is, it makes me smile that everyone seems to be enjoying themselves
I love how, no matter what aesthetic or music you put with it, stepdance styles are always stepdancey. I recognized loads of Irish stepdance elements here, along with the more overt swing dance high-flying. Really cool eclectic choreography and nifty stylized performance, love this kind of creative genre-bending!
Down here in Louisiana, we'd take a hot cowboy ANY day! Man, do I love being a Southerner! XD
Amen to that!
Yep!😂
I'm a Californian and I wish I were a southerner, y'all have more common sense!
GAG 🤮
LunaTheBlackWolf ☄️
I have no idea why this was recommended to me, as a non-American who had never watched any dance show, but this is amaaazing and hilarious at the same time, love it!
This dance looks amazing, but just watching it is exhausting 0_0 that looks like it took an awful lot of practice and energy.
TheKatsMeow4
Ya is did
Смотрел ,а ноги в такт выплясывали! Мелодия зажигательная, а танец так вообще чудо! Получил внутренний заряд энергии!
Joanne and Kevin are enjoying this so much more than the others you can really tell
I'm caught between "this is absolutely not how rural America parties" and "the vibes this gives off are INCREDIBLY country y'all NAILED it"
Anyone else come here from Joe Sugg's week 2 dance in 2018?
Carina Davis me 😂😂😂
Yup 💜 ps I 💖 Harry potter
@@millievenghaus8533 same! 😂

Can we not appreciate janette rn, she was flicking amazing with that lift combo!!! 💕
the dance look amazing. its so energetic and festive
I felt breathless watching the energetic amazing dancing! I loves loved the song!
I watched this being filmed as I was lucky enough to get tickets! It took three takes in the end to be perfect x
Very nicely sung Cotton Eyed Joe. Nice Dancing. Strictly Come Dancing 2014. Enjoyed.
Gosh, I could watch those videos again and again, they make me so happy! :D
As a performer I am absolutely exhausted thinking about dancing this they’re so precise and have so much energy I could literally never
Jimmy Johnston still has moves!! I first saw him as Will in Oklahoma with High Jackman. He hasn't lost anything with age.
I loved seeing him in this. Being able to what he did with the lasso is amazing.
Very joyful and lighting environments Texas show😀
my favorite song and now my favorite dance amazing job singers yall did a great job rock on gals and cowboys
The lighting for this is FREAKING AMAZING!! its so extra and i LOVE ITTT!!
Best dance going!! The male dancers looked gorgeous 😍
Briony Morris you mean GAY?
Go join them
yeaaaa this was so awesoome fantastic dancing group
Teacher: "The Test is starting now"
My Brain:
Such great dancing 👏
why was this in my recommended?
Girlygamer because the South is calling you to join us... we will rule the WORLD!
And soon everyone will be saying Would've'f'i'd've, and you need to be able to understand
Because an algorithm in your computer is trying to tell you to come out of the closet.
Em.D because it’s amazing.

December, 2019, here. Makes sense to be recommended 😅
просто огонь! когда танцуют профессионалы, любой танец - чистое удовольствие смотреть.
This was fantastic....love love love the pros!!! Such a talented bunch of people...they really make the show a success! 👍😍😃😊☺
Love this. Can't stop watching this, it is amazing.
It looked so energetic and looked like it was fun to work on too ^-^
Yeehaw! Country fun❤🎉
Im dancing while watching this lol
I reckon this is basically how every party in Texas looks like 😂😂😂
That “Southern” accent at the start kills me every time
Those dresses are adorable!!!! I love them and the color
As a Texan, I'm left wondering where the actual Cotton Eyed Joe dance is..... This was great, but it's definitely not Cotton Eyed Joe.
My thoughts exactly. This dance could have been to anything
Yeap, used to dance Cotton Eyed Joe every Friday and sat night... country dance floor was the best workout ever 💃 🕺
Same lmao. Like this is really good and all, but it also absolutely is not the usual line dance done to this song.
It was fun to watch but yeah I agree, not the traditional style. This was British though, they hardly know country the way we do. Cotton Eyed Joe isn’t exactly their forte.
My thoughts too but this is Great Britain so they must not know it? Idk. Kind of insulting to Texas and people that know this dance though really.
Wow that's fantastic too hear and see classic always love it 👍👍👍👍💎❤️💙🙏
Love this! Makes one want to participate in one's own hoedown.
This is amazing ...what a performance
so happy to see Tristan!
One of the best Strictly's opening!!!!
The best part of this is Americans getting offended by the stereotypes. I mean that is exactly how the rest 90% of the world feels when they watch ur TV or Movies.
Gracias por compartir, al fin pude encontrar un video con este estilo de folklore de Estados Unidos.
As a southerner from the state of Florida I found this offencive LOL this is too funny I don't even know what the hell I was watching.
It's a British ballroom dancing competition where celebrities with a professional dance partner battle it out to win the prize. Each week they do a group dance like this to fill the time up.
Absolutely splendid
Bellissima interpretazione e bellissimo balletto
Why is it my eyes seem to constantly be on Kevin during any pro-dance?
He's so versatile-my Grimsby guy makes me so proud!
Trent was so good last year, it's a shame he's not on it this year.
Scarlett Smith i agree, his choreography was spot on every week
My grandma and grandpa used to square dance in the 70s and 80s. The costumes have changed a lot! lol
I'm irish and I know the real cotton eyed joe dance XD
I love that song and music
Ależ energia, proszę o więcej :))
This has been my favourite ever since I saw this nearly four years ago 🤩🥰🤠
When learning electro swing in lockdown
Update am now taking modern ballroom classes
Superb!!!!!
Joe Sugg danced to this for his Charleston ❤️
I love ❤️ it
LOVED this opening! :D
Very very good this Show. I like very much. Lovely🤣💃🕺💃🕺🔥🌟☄☄♨️🌏👋Great feelings. Thank you this.♨️💚
My favourite dancer is Aljaz
I met him
Flibbertigibbet6 I met him, he's really nice :)
His face makes me cry
Mine to and Kevin
Very synchronise and energetic dance
This is called Clogging, Flatfoot, and square dancing. It comes from the Mountains of North Carolina. It is mixed with Shag dancing from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Edit: The Song cane from Bob Wills and The Texas Cowboys in 1935.
I 😍that song
Let’s all take a moment to appreciate, that apart from Baby Shark, this is the most viewed Strictly video on this channel 😂
And you can’t comment on the baby shark video
Wow! Love this!!! He-haw!!🤩😍
Очень красиво, очень завораживает 👏👏👏
This is the best song ever
