Because if you want to keep it as a pet, might as well find a spider in your house hiding somewhere and bring it to the spider cage.
Something to realize. The less familiar and traversable the enclosure, the less interested an animal is in eating or attacking. They just want to escape with their lives and goes straight into flight-mode, as you can clearly see with your mantis before it got some grip. With the predator skidding around like Bambi on ice you're lucky you got any feeding response at all.
While that might be true, im sure that they are fine. It wont effect the pets in the long term. He doesnt do it too often. Plus, if they did feel very umcomfy, the animals wouldve not eaten at all or made a attempt, it was probably because some werent hungry

Maybe for cats or dogs but turtle are very often fed in a different enclosure

Yeah Diematic display means they think they are outmatched. For some reason, some mantis species seem to be terrified of mealworms/superworms. I'll feed them a similarly sized locust, moth or waxworm (what he kept calling maggots, actual moth larvae) and no issues, but a mealworm twitched too close? Absolute terror.

hey heres a fun fact if you get a pet snapping turtle when its young and you show it love and kindness and treat it well it can become as tame as a normal turtle when it grows up

I have a baby snapper about this size had him for little over 2 years I think he finally stopped trying to bite me when I pick him up

I second this. Our crush has A routine. He stays in his tank for about half the day. He eats, waits in the corner when he’s finished til he gets our attention we take him out put him in a bowl of warm water until he poops. Then he goes in my room and naps the rest of the time in the corner. When he’s ready he comes out on his own crawls into the kitchen to where his tank is on the counter and waits on the floor until we pick him up and put him back on the tank. He’s about a year old. Has never tried to bite once. Super cool turtle.

I actually have 2, their names are Tammy and Jeffrey, Jeffrey jumped out of the tank today and we found him deep under our couch, I have no idea how he got there and their tank is in the living room so I guess it’s possible and Tammy actually jumped out the month before so I guess they want to explore the rest of the house or want to escape but anyways, I love ur content

I have a lot of desert turtles
actually giant mealworms are tenebrio molitor treated with hormones while superworms are a different species (zophobas morio) although people often mess them up
I love he called the mantis a velociraptor
I try not to hate any living thing but for realz seeing a Cockroach get taken down like that was excellent. I use to make spider fights in a jar when I was young so must have got it out of my system early.
