Good acceleration for a massive 2.2t SUV. The interior looks still fresh, and you can notice the materials are of high quality. W164 is a solid piece of car with a lot of cool options.

I still remember when i was a passenger in one these back in 2010, the suspension setup is very walowy but its very confortable in straight line and offroading
My dad used to have one, driving it feels like driving a small train because it's so incredibly planted on the road. It does feel like a freaking boat in town though lol.

@@capac3785 yes the 420 cdi is very powerful, and it is a magnificent engine. I think that without limiter it can go to 270km / h
The weight and wind resistance. CLS is pretty sporty with aero dynamic shape, ML has higher shape, ground clearance and weight, the engine has to work much harder to reach top speed of the car.

This car needs some heavy maintenance and additives to get back some HP.
I had 2 editions of w164: MY07 and MY11 Grand Edition. Never reached 245kmh on MY07 but MY11 was a beast. Great cars! Those engines are legends.
The my11 is a 300 cdi 204 hp or 350 cdi 231 hp ?
ML420 CDI was amazing!
Pushing an ML 320CDI to 220 km/h (137 mph) is pretty good considering we are dealing with a diesel engine.
Pretty much every turbodiesel will get to 220kph...

@@2HeadedEagle weight doesn't affect top speed much, it affects acceleration more. it is more its size and shape that limits top speed and how the engine puts out his power (high in rpm range or low).

I often overinflate my tires a bit so it drives more straight, with stock tire pressure it tends to slide a bit (especially around 200KMH)

It appears this ML320 has airmatic suspension? Can you comment on the settings and feeling of that at speed, compared perhaps to a normal suspension?

Max, I basically like your vids, but strongly recommend not to run your top speed tests amid such lousy condiciones. The surface is slighty humid, sight is 200m+ only, and fog often an instantaneous risk. Also your seating position is way off ideal. What I really hate though is you stopping right on the Auffahrt / entry lane where I usually acceletate my Porsche from say approx. 100kmh at full throttle. No need to mention what will happen if we meet at the same time/place. So rethink your setup!

Is it 5G tronic or 7G tronic? I´m planning to buy a car fow towing and ML with om642 seems pretty good 4 me, but idk about the transmisson. I like WK Grand Cherokee with the same engine (but 160kW), but the problem is, that it's 5G which is revving 2700 on 130 kph, I think that's a lot, so i'd wanna 7G
On this series of ml there was only 7gtronic but gearing ratio was shorter than in e class or other non suv
