@BuickDoc Ummm silver is used such as spoons. Silver is non toxic and is a natural anti bacteriant thus teh saying baby was born with a silver spoon in his mouth this keeping baby safe. Also old days people kept silver coins in milk to keep it fresher longer.

That is a modern understanding but it grew out of the need to be healthy this silver was used A LOT back then.

I think you're backwards. For plating, the workpiece is negative and the anodes are positive.
