I just found myself a very good looking example of this one which I got for very cheap! the moment I saw it was the 1.6 model I was stoked haha. It needs some work: self timer is stuck (surprising, I know), shutter seems to be discharged but the advance lever is locked (I know this is because the shutter's been engaged but the self timer is holding it, so this is all one and the same issue), rewind button is pressed, diaphragm stays mostly the same regardless of the setting on the aperture ring (it moves as expected, but the aperture doesn't open further than maybe f8). I think the light meter works but I didn't really spend much time fiddling with the battery to make sure, I have decent hopes for it anyways.
I buy cameras mostly for the joy of fixing them before using them, so this one is right up my alley! I have an original Auto S which is the camera I've used the most by far the last 5 years or so, if I can get this one up an running I'm certain it'll take it's place. Watching your videos definitely pays off, I already knew how special this model is because of this very video which I'd seen probably right when you uploaded it. Thank you!

My father has this camera since the early 70s but the meter doesn't work anymore and the small rangefinder mirror got loose. I'm still trying to find some repair store that could at least take care of the mirror and adjust the rangefinder, because I'd really love to shoot with it someday. My father always talked about how good the lens was.

My father used to have one these cameras. If you really want to use a self-timer with one of these a good work around is to just get one of those self timers that screws into the cable release threads of the shutter button.

That is good advice, and the most popular brand of vintage timers was Walz. You can find them on eBay and other places cheaply.

Ottima descrizione , ne ho una da vendere ma non saprei dare una giusta valutazione . Funziona tutto e il vano batteria è pulito .

My self timer has stuck. What to do? I am very handy, can I service it myself?

Great video. I know you said the self timer is a real problem. I just bought a S 2 that has that problem and the aperature ring is frozen. Is it worth fixing?

they're always worth fixing, if you ask me. If you've never done it yourself then take it to a repair shop, they shouldn't charge you much for it. With the proper tools fixing both those issues should take about 2 hours for someone who knows what they're doing; without those tools (mostly the lens spanner wrench) it'll take some finesse and care not to scratch the name ring (and the front element, above all else) plus the extra time it would require to make sure you take pictures of every step once you're into the lens and set every piece down in an orderly fashion so you don't misplace anything or put some screw where it doesn't belong when you're putting the whole thing back together.
If you're meticulous and careful you can 100% open one of these lenses up. Just look the disassembly and/or repair of this model on youtube and pay attention to when they get to the clockwork in the shutter, there's only a couple parts you might need to take out in order to clean them and those need care when you remove them so you don't send a spring flying into the void. Finding those springs back can be a true pain, _don't ask me how I know._

Good day! Im using Revue 400 SE which is made in Japan Shutter priority range finder camera, very similar to this. I have a problem that lightmeter does not work properly. I have to select ISO 800 on camera and shoot ISO 100 film to get right exposure. Is there a way to adjust light meter. Also I use LR44(1.5V) istead of 1.3V mercury battery, can this be the reason?

Yes - Alkaline batteries tend to send a higher voltage to the meter at the beginning of its life and below its standard voltage reading when it's dying (meaning it can range involtage from 1.6v to 1.4), meaning that the metering will never be too consistent across the life of Alkaline batteries (such as your LR44). It's easy to get proper 1.35v batteries , the most common being Zinc-Air batteries, which though typically die much quicker than standard batteries, keep a steady and stable voltage throughout most all of the batteries life, meaning the metering will be accurate up until the death of the battery. It's possible you can also send your camera in to a servicer and have them adapt it to new 1.5v batteries vs old 1.35v

Определенно да, неподходящее напряжение может давать неправильный замер.
Сталкивался с подобным на ОМ-1, SRT
