I went to a Day Out With Thomas event with my mom, my brother and my sister when i was little and even tho i loved it, seeing Thomas up close scared the living daylights out of me.
@@christophertolmie6572 It’s fair that you’d be scared, though. The life-size Thomas as probably the biggest thing you had ever seen up to that point - or maybe it was a bit freaky to see your childhood hero brought to life?
But the event I went to wasn't at Strasburg, it was at Essex Steam Train and Riverboat. I'm from Connecticut and that's the only railway I've ever been to.
My parents took me out to see Thomas as a child. I believe we rode around in either Thomas’s cab or coaches. I had an old T-shirt I got from the event that I always wore at my insistence 🤣👌 good times
My parents took me to this in 2002 back when the series wasn't as flashy and corporate as it is now. Money wasn't always part of the question It was about children actually learning something from it all, also so that they can enjoy it as a timeless classic too. When I look at Thomas now it upsets me that this is what people care about, filling their pockets
Exciting News: the Strasburg Railroad is building Percy to join Thomas for the Day Out events and they're building him exactly how they did with Thomas-a shelled diesel at first and then as a live steamer.
I do remember hearing about Percy joining Thomas this year. But I'm not sure if there's any truth to him being a non-operational dummy first and then becoming a live steam engine? Where did you hear that, out of curiosity? Also, I'll be at Strasburg again this Saturday to film Thomas again.
I knew also this would give me a sigh of relief seeing this original face up his original face of Thomas the Tank engine on his body back hiss on his body back that's the one that I grew up with That's the one that I thought made the real Thomas Just like the Hornby Thomas They are the real deal.
Having to listen to 90's whistle from that close to a kid must have been painful. If there's one thing I learned from being there last week, she's the loudest of all.
I dunno about Percy, but some railfans have (somewhat jokingly) requested that Strasburg make replicas of Annie and Clarabel and do a photo charter with Thomas and his coaches! Now THAT I would pay to see! But, considering Porter's introduction to the series, I would imagine the nearby Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern possibly trucking in their H.K. Porter 0-6-0 #65 to play the character, if it could be arranged.
Are you talking the engine next to #90 from 00:40 to 00:56? If so, that's exactly what I was thinking. Every time I go to the Strasburg Railroad and I see that 4-wheeled engine, I say to myself "they need to make Percy out of that".
Trainboy7 The North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC has already advertised that Percy will be appearing at their DOWT event later this year. nctrans.org/Events/Day-Out-With-Thomas-%281%29.aspx
🤗Yeah that's the original face Of Thomas The tank engine that I've always liked better than the moving face Of Thomas the Tank engine they wish These people bring that back🚂.
Sound is hardly a note when it’s next to the fact he’s pushing and pulling 8 loaded cars (including Caboose ) unassisted Impressive for that little Brooklyn unit

I went to see this same particular Thomas when I was super little in 2006 and just had a blast. Love the old school face much better than the new one

Uhhhhh . u 77uygg. V x zhhh g x,
Thomas is a E2 tank engine
his face is very much based on the classic model era so I can tell why
and his number 1 is smaller
5:28 I saw his eyes move
After riding N&W 475 in 2022, that's when I railfaned Thomas.(AKA BEDT #15)
That tommas was the boiler test.......?

Christopher Kovacs I heard it from a friend of my father, and YAY!!! I'll try to be up there sometime during the event.
dunno what will be cosmetically altered this time, BUT AWESOME!
In the future the Strasburg Railroad can built Toby as a non-operational dummy or a live steam engine.
Mo Bouk
That'll be cool too

It would be cool if Strasburg could make a Percy locomotive to go along with Thomas.

Well There's a rumor going on that there WILL be a Life size Percy to go along with Thomas on the 2014 Day out with Thomas events.
