Thanks man! It's definitely a fun spot in the spring and fall. I always come home with plenty to keep me busy, a lot of UV reactive pieces this trip too. 🤘
Yeah this spot in particular has a great variety of colors. Not a whole lot of big stuff but I did manage to find that one decent chunker. 🤘😊 Good luck on your trips and hope y'all find a bunch of goodies out here.
Amazing pieces here, beautiful day. Great pieces of petrified wood, that's my favorite, something about the history there. Great video man. I have a Daisy too, black lab great dane mix, along with four other dogs.
Love that first big chunk at 2:30 off to a great start. It's fun to find what others might have thought was too small in the pit tails or ground scores. Daisy is a doll, I think Daisy and Lily would have a blast hounding. Always love seeing all the good stuff at the end, you made a nice haul, thanks for sharing!
I seem to usually find my best or biggest pieces in the first half hour. 🤷🏻♂️ Excited to meet up here in a little over a week. The pups will definitely have a blast, I'm excited as heck to check out those beaches down in Oregon!!!
That's really cool! I spent a day at the base of Saddle Mt. looking around when I was out there in Sept. I didn't know how to get on top. Maybe the next time I'm out there, you can show me around some. I didn't know petrified wood would glow under UV. That's really something else! I have a buddy in Michigan that gets rocks that glow on the south shore of Lake Superior. They're called "Emberlites". He sends me some from time to time.
Holy smokes, you got a bunch of killer pet wood. That large chunker is just gorgeous. You did very well in the time you were out there. I really like pieces you sent me. Nice video bro.
Heck yes! I’m a bit sad I never made it out there but it was just too far for me from Boise when I lived there to make a “quick” trip. Though many people kept telling me to go there. Good stuff! I’m ready to get out and start digging the east coast now that I moved here… Sunstone and Moonstone dig coming up soon!
We got Hansen coming up to look forward too! That's gonna be so Raaaaaadddddd! Definitely would have been fun having you along for this trip. Definitely soon we'll have to do a trip and meet in the middle somewhere like usual! 🤘😊
I was out there today!! Looking for fire agate and went down the road to another little hill . That wood was everywhere!!! I mean everywhere! Idk what it was! All on the surface! It’s crazy! Such an amazing area- tomorrow I’m getting up early and heading to Fourth of July mountain going to look for some banded agate, painted agate?? Not sure what it’s called. Lol
Ive got a crazy amount if museum quality petrified wood. Its just so hard digging in a rocky area because each push of the shovel i hit a chunk of wood. Was actually just up there 2 days ago digging around and came across some great holes partially dug out holes to dig through
If you guys go there again keep qn eye out for a carved tiki man. My husband found one there so he signed it and put it back. We did not want to "Brady Bunch curse" ourswlves.
Probably a dumb question but how do you get up there to the dig site? Tried yesterday but it said private road so we turned around. Can a car get there?
Yes I've seen Camrys and Prius's make it up there. Heading out of mattawa take a left on road R. You will cross the canal where there is a gate to the left and a cattle guard at that gate. This will go along a fence line next to a house out there, however this is DNR land. You can also find the directions on Google by searching recreation.gov and looking up saddle mountain. They have the specific directions there. Hope this helps. 🤘
I've sold a few of my works, but mostly like to do rock trades or giveaways. I'm about sharing, reach out through my email in the contacts of TH-cam if you are looking for something specific. Happy to share what I got.
You had some really good finds up there.

Wow that vinegar really brought out some nice colors, nice haul!!
It does a decent job I've been meaning to try citric acid, might give that a try soon. 🤘🙂
Nice rich colors in those. We'll be making a trip over there soon. Will be our first time. Great vid!

Nice video and good series. Wondering if this site would be accessible with a subaru wrx, or do I need high-clearance. thanks
Yep your good to go in a Subaru. I've seen a couple people make it easy in a Prius. 🤘😊 Just avoid the ruts and take it slow.
@@TheRockHugger thank you! going there tomorrow!
