I like number 5 the best, the leading lines in the foreground leads you up to the small waterfall and the waterfall leads you up to the mountain in the background. And then you have the interesting rocks on both sides to balance the image and to create more atmosphere.
I like no 4 the best.... I like the drama, the scale and the colour of the sky. No. 2 is a close second, I love the perspective, the textures and the golden glow.
number 5 for me. love the way the mood draws you in but then gets you to pause mid stream and reflect about life at the same time before continuing to the top of the mountain
My favorite is probably number 4. I love the waterfall in the foreground and also the presence of a person in the shot is just perfect. They are all beautiful shots though... Also number 6 is amazing!!
4 and 5 work the best for me. I like the texture of the water and the softness of the light. The person in the photo helps ground the scene and makes the entire scene seem accessible.
I can’t really choose between 5 and 6. If hard pressed, 6. I love the leading lines and balance. But 5 is right there. In that photo, l love the way the sky and water mirror each other. Wonderful, inspiring stuff.
My favourite image is pic number 6. I like the mood in the picture and the texture in the little waterfall and the stream. It fits the complete composition.
Brilliant again. Brought back memories. It's been 7 years since I visited Skye. It was July 2010, there was next to no traffic, no tourists and no midges. Times have changed. We stayed at Lower Milovaig, not far from Neist Point. On the road from Dunvegan to Neist Point, you will have passed the Three Chimneys restaurant - had the best meal of my life there. Still can't believe the amount of folk there in your video around Neist Point and the Fairy Pools. Mental! As for my favourite photo, I would have to say either 5 or 6. Love the mood in both of them.
Number 5 for me. The portrait format works really well gives more depth to the image, with good lead in lines,to take you right into the image. A lot of people would never even have thought of taken any image on a day like this, but its weather like this that can make the picture. This is skye at its best. Beautiful image in my book.
Number 4 is my favourite. I love that you filled the frame in the way you did leading to the point of interest. The water streaks are perfect and it is just so beautifully balanced. It was hard to pick one as they are all really fabulous pics. I have watched this series before and ending up going to the Isle of Skye and hiking/photographing it, and watching this again makes me want to do it all over again. I just love Scotland
All great Mads, but for me it is easy No6. So poweful in centre frame highlights. The foreground an sides lead you in, with a spectral mountain scene giving atmospheric bliss, I would hang this on my wall!
Number 6 is absolutely gorgeous, the composition and the strong leading lines are impressive. The light and the mood in this images make the picture not only a technical but also a emotional one! I like the perspective of number two, it was absolutely worthy to serach for an other composition.
Photo 3 and 5 are the best from my view. The first because of the great composition and colours, the second because of the "epic" scene and light. Finally 5 is excellent and my selection.
For me Mads, pic 4 is my favourite, as it depicts the Fairy Pools in a more dramatic way than is usually seen. By going to the Isle of Skye in September, it was inevitable that you would encounter midges and tourists, including masses of photographers all vying for the best location shot. November if you are lucky with the weather is a good time to go, as the flies have disappeared and only the fewer braver photographers appear. Another great video and it illustrates nicely the challenges of photography in this wonderful location.
Mads, I love to watch your videos travelling through the world while in these times we are locked-in in our countries! It helps me compensate for it. Oh, and No. 4 is the best for me, I like the light in the background.
For me 1-3-5,1 I love the bridge and the water the way it flows. 3. The colors in the skie love it and no 5love the mist or fog behind the mountain and the way the waterfall lead you to the mountain, by tge way I like all but yhis are my favorites. Can wait for the next one....
I love no 6, it speaks to me, puts me there. I'm 5th generation Aussie but I'm a Campbell and mums a McDonald, probably not a great combination. I feel a strong pull about Scotland particularly these areas as my ancestors came from those parts. One, Flora McDonald had a connection to Isle of Skye. So I'm glad I found these videos.
5 is my preference. Using the vertical composition adds incredible power to the mountain, allowing it to dominate the surroundings. The water flows toward the camera as if carpeted stairs leading up to a throne or altar, and the verticality presents it as if in a cathedral. Stunning.
Best for me is #4 because of he texture of the water in the foreground and the perspective of the person standing mid-way. Your photography is great and your set up explanations are the best. Thank you Mads.
#2 is iconic, yes. #4 eh. The little bit of green in #'s 5-6 does it for me. I have always wanted to visit Scotland(because I have worked with some crazy Scots). I am from Alaska and seeing the midges strikes terror in my heart. I will be prepared. I like these vids because of the total focus on the photography. No airport, no hotel, no food, just the story about the pictures.
Glad you managed to get to Skye and survived the midges, Mads - All photos totally captured the drama of 'The Fairy Pools' but 4 is my personal favourite.
Another beautiful country to visit and photograph. I think number 3 has a great composition along with the beautiful light reflecting off the sky onto the water makes this shot.
For me they are all wonderful 6 is my favorite. The water has a wildness or raw feel to it. Being in landscape format lends to a feeling of vast open area. I appreciate how you do this in your videos. It gives us the opportunity to think about what we like in an image. A wonderful teacher you are 👍 Thank you
I liked all the photos, but 3 (for the color of the blue sky), 4 (Sophie being on the left fills in the empty space), and 5 (the S-curve of the rocks) the most. Once again an awesome job.
All the images were amazing but personally number 4 did it for me. The light silhouetting the figure showing scale against the mountain backdrop is wonderful. I also like the portrait mode for this shot
One of the highlights of my week is when I get to watch your videos. The images are always on the highest level. Truly inspirational Mads. If I have to pick a favorite it would probably be 4 with 2 coming in close behind. With #4 I love the feeling it gives. The texture and madness of the water with the beautiful glowing sky is such a stunning juxtaposition of moods for me. #2 is just a brilliant calm and relaxing scene. Great choice on the new location for that shot. As always, thank you for sharing!
#4 for me. I love the composition, the use of the figure and the texture/movement you have captured in the water. That scene at the lighthouse was crazy, it was like they were all waiting for a movie star to appear. Great that a location is loved by so many people, but for me it takes away from the relaxation of landscape photography - one of the reason I love it so much.
No. 5 definitely. Maximum lead in to the iconic mountain. A great deal of visual movement but still a simple composition, like a Japanese wood print. I'm a big fan of your composition technique.
I’m using parts of this video to show my photography class (14-18 year olds) how a world class landscape photographer scouts a location and composes images. Great work! Thanks for posting this!!
6. The wide angle gives a much better idea of the grand scale of the vista. I also like the way the white water is spread out more as it falls over the rocks into the pools. so moody and dramatic. I just love it.
No5 for me Mads, great foreground lead in and overall atmoshere of the shot is superb.I've been to the pools a few times and always struggled to get a shot i'm happy with. You nailed it.
No 5 for me. A lovely "S" curve with perfect shutter speed, leading into a very atmospheric background. I've been a couple of times in similar conditions but alas couldn't catch anywhere near the atmosphere the way you have Mads. Outstanding images. The point you made about breaking the horizon on the Neist Point image shows me exactly where I went wrong with one I took. I didn't break the horizon and the difference is plain to see, although I did manage to capture a double rainbow in mine. But that just shows how much better mine could have been. You inspire this amateur to keep trying though, thanks.
Pic 4. But all your Fairy Pool pictures are some of the be best (probably the best) I saw. The subject adds strong story to the picture to tell about the weather, epic landscape, and then the beautiful moody colors. Top Notch!!
I really love number 5. The composition is perfect with matching light in the sky and waters! Truly inspiring as we will visit Skye in August. Thanks for your hard work.
The isle is some kind of a miracle - it's so marvellous in all of your shots. It's difficult to single out a most beautiful image, but I can tell your what I particularly liked in several of them - it's the water in the foreground, its texture, especially in No.1, and also the texture of the stones in the same image.
Skye is an incredible place. I got my favourite shot at Neist point it is an amazing location, the number of photographers who appear at sunset is crazy but five minutes after the sunset I was the only one left. I was disappointed by the Fairy pools but I was there after a three week drought so the water was just a trickle. My favourite shots are number 3 because I just love the jutting shape of the point leading you to the lighthouse and number 5. The line of the water leading to the falls behind with the brooding mountain in the background is so beautiful
Fabulous work Mads, your journals should be a must watch for anyone intending to visit the locations you have covered. There is so much quality information you include and the images and suggestions are fantastic. The 3 images of the Fairy Pools are epic and I can’t choose between these, you make it so difficult mate! Skye is busy at the iconic locations but if you venture “off piste” you rarely see another photographer. I have been visiting for the last 4 years and have discovered some amazing spots but it is nice to get the famous sights “in the can”. I hope you are keeping well Mads and hope you and your family have a very merry Christmas.🎄🎄🎄 Take care.🍀👌
Mads. Another epic vlog. No competition, No 4 with Sophie is just so epic. I’m a sucker for placing peeps in photos (sadly I don’t have a Sophie and have to do it myself with a remote), the whole scale thing and that light with the ominous mountain in the background works so well. The textures lines in the foreground sweep you up the image so well. Epic stuff mate! Keep up the fab work.
Mads, incredibly difficult to choose but I will go with number four. I love the exploding water as it cascades through the image. Beautiful images and a stellar video.
Love number 4 Mads. The drama and beauty of it are amazing. Another excellent video. My wife and I are planning a trip to Glencoe and Skye in February for our anniversary so the comment about booking accommodation in advance was well timed for us.
I like number 6 the best, although the others are stunning as well, number 6 has the most drama with the white of the water spreading out and leading you into the scene. Love your videos and looking forward to the next one.
All are compelling, but I prefer No. 6 for the wild, brooding mood and, compositionally speaking, the effective leading lines of white water. Thanks for sharing.
After 2 years this is still one of my favorite videos of yours. I love the final image and how moody it is. Kind of similar to the kind of photography that I do and love. Can’t wait till you’re able to get out again and do more videos 👍🏻
I like number 6. It has good leading lines and I like the mood of the shot. All your images are great and I appreciate your explanations on how you compose and set-up the shots. Thanks!
Great colours on the lighthouse shots. Hard to pick a winner, but for me number 4 hits the mark. It has great texture in the water and the person on the side of the frame works well giving scale. Looking forward to part 2 Mads.
Another awesome video Mads. I think number 5 is my favourite. I love the portrait view and the way the image has so much depth. We visited the pools a few years ago but I never managed to find that location. You have now made me want to re visit. Please keep making these great informative videos.
No 1, caught my 1st salmon on that river. Wonderful memories and thank you for the heart bump and smile.
4 & 5 are stunning. such a superb use of the light in a vertical format.
The 6 is absolutly amazing.
5 just because of the angles.. superb imagines throughout… top work
4 and 5... Spectacular, shutter speed, composition, totally different to anything I've seen from there. Absolute genius!!
Number 2 for me. I love sunsets!
My favorite is probably number 4. I love the waterfall in the foreground and also the presence of a person in the shot is just perfect. They are all beautiful shots though... Also number 6 is amazing!!
No 4 is by far the best. Super great depth, dramatic clouds, nice water flow.
Thank you for your thoughts Jens! :)
4 and 5 work the best for me. I like the texture of the water and the softness of the light. The person in the photo helps ground the scene and makes the entire scene seem accessible.
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Sasidhar :)
I love #4. So athmospheric, and that foreground.. #5 same reasons and the sense of depth because of the waterfall.
Hi Mads, great video. The shots you took at the Fairy Pools are your best to date. Nice work.
Thank you very much Gary! :)

All your shots are fantastic but shots 1,3, and 6 are my favourites

Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts and continued support Greig! I'll have to go back one day, then I'll remember that restaurant! :)
Once upon a time it ranked in the top 50 in the world.
4. Just went wow as soon as it came on screen...epic. I think having Sophie in the frame is that X factor, against that amazing colour.
#1 and #5. I love the perfect water capture.. not too much, not too little and it feeds the composition so well. Stunning series this
Number 5 for me. The portrait format works really well gives more depth to the image, with good lead in lines,to take you right into the image. A lot of people would never even have thought of taken any image on a day like this, but its weather like this that can make the picture. This is skye at its best. Beautiful image in my book.
No 5 for me. Foreground leading line to focus on mountain and interest in the sky with darker top bringing the eye back down.
Thank you for your thoughts Kevin :)
Number 5 is a clear standout. So many layers, so much depth, so much mystery. Great work Mads.
Number 4 is my favourite. I love that you filled the frame in the way you did leading to the point of interest. The water streaks are perfect and it is just so beautifully balanced. It was hard to pick one as they are all really fabulous pics. Thanks a lot Tad! I think I'll have to return during winter maybe :)
Mads, I love to watch your videos travelling through the world while in these times we are locked-in in our countries! It helps me compensate for it. Oh, and No. 4 is the best for me, I like the light in the background.
I like #4 the best. The detail in the water is just phenomenal. Also like the color contrast with the warmer highlights.
Thank you for your thoughts Krisztian :)
For me 1-3-5,1 I love the bridge and the water the way it flows. 3. The colors in the skie love it and no 5love the mist or fog behind the mountain and the way the waterfall lead you to the mountain, by tge way I like all but yhis are my favorites. Can wait for the next one....

Best for me is #4 because of he texture of the water in the foreground and the perspective of the person standing mid-way. Your photography is great and your set up explanations are the best. Thank you Mads.
I think image 5 is superb. The portrait format really works with the leading line of the flow of water. Superb!
Thank you so very much Steve :)
Fantastic work again Mads. No 4 for me, just love the way the foreground just pours off the image
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Jamie!
#2 is iconic, yes. #4 eh. The little bit of green in #'s 5-6 does it for me. I have always wanted to visit Scotland(because I have worked with some crazy Scots). Another beautiful country to visit and photograph. I think number 3 has a great composition along with the beautiful light reflecting off the sky onto the water makes this shot.
Thanks again Richard :)
5 is my fav, I am dying to have my holidays to visit the place. Great video. Thanks!
Oh Mads you have done it again. Great segment. Loved all the pool shots but 4 was the best for me. The eye just leads you up to the mountain.
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Tom! So much appreciated :)
For me it’s 5. I love to shoot landscape in portrait. You capture much more foreground leading the eye into the picture.
For me they are all wonderful 6 is my favorite. The water has a wildness or raw feel to it. Being in landscape format lends to a feeling of vast open area. I appreciate how you do this in your videos. It gives us the opportunity to think about what we like in an image. A wonderful teacher you are 👍 Thank you
Thank you so much Tony! Very happy you get something away from the videos :)
I liked all the photos, but 3 (for the color of the blue sky), 4 (Sophie being on the left fills in the empty space), and 5 (the S-curve of the rocks) the most. Once again an awesome job.
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts :)
All the images were amazing but personally number 4 did it for me. The light silhouetting the figure showing scale against the mountain backdrop is wonderful. I also like the portrait mode for this shot
Thank you very much for your thoughts Sheridan :)

Hehe yeah it is very popular and very obvious for a sunset :)
I love all of them, but in particular I love #4 because of the way the creek water leads you into the waterfall. Great job Mads.
Very hard to chose a favorite, I like the lighthouse one # 3 and # 5 and 6. For the beautiful drama of the skies and fairway falls.
Fantastic photgraphs. You have some skill. 5 for me. It combines the brooding mountain with the power of the water and so much interest.
#5 would have to be my favorite. Dark, moody tones, great leading lines, and wonderful weather. The foreground water in #4 is amazing, too.
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Cosmo :)
I love picture No 4 , great movement in the water. Amazing light around the mountain and the girl, at the perfect position!! Great work!!!
Thanks a lot again :)
Number 6! Beautiful drama! I love the short long-shuttertimes
Number 3 for me: I just absolutely love the sense of isolation and the way the eye is drawn to the lighthouse; sitting alone at its sentinel post.
Thanks a lot, Sam! :)
Wow, thank you so much! I really do not consider myself a world-class landscape photographer :)
Nos. 5 and 6 for me. Very moody and subdued colour. Magnificent shots and video.
Thank you for your thoughts Stephen! :)
6. The wide angle gives a much better idea of the grand scale of the vista. I also like the way the white water is spread out more as it falls over the rocks into the pools. so moody and dramatic. I just love it.
love all of your pictures, especially #4 is stunning! Having a person in the picture making it even more special.
Number 6, love it. You are a great photographer and guide to follow
No 4 It has a great sense of scale and I love the tones too
Thank you for your thoughts Russell :)
Thanks for the videos. I prefer number 3, I love the contrasts between the land and sea, and the greens and warm tones of sunset
Thanks a lot and thank you for your thoughts Adam! :)
Pic 4. But all your Fairy Pool pictures are some of the be best (probably the best) I saw. The subject adds strong story to the picture to tell about the weather, epic landscape, and then the beautiful moody colors. Top Notch!!
Thank you SO much Krishna! Very happy to her that :)
I really love number 5. The composition is perfect with matching light in the sky and waters! Truly inspiring as we will visit Skye in August. Thanks for your hard work.
the foreground in 4 is simply outstanding.
Thanks a lot :)
They are all great but 4 really stands out for me, I love the mood and the toning.
Thank you for your thoughts :)
4 / 5 / 6 !! Can't choose. Definetely some of the best shots I've seen from the Pools. You are a photogrpahy god man!
Thank you so much Daryl! I'm happy you like them :)
The isle is some kind of a miracle - it's so marvellous in all of your shots. It's difficult to single out a most beautiful image, but I can tell your what I particularly liked in several of them - it's the water in the foreground, its texture, especially in No.1, and also the texture of the stones in the same image.
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Loreta :)
Superb! Fabulous photos of the fairy pools
Thank you for your thoughts Peter! Yeah I feared that for the Fairy Pools too, but turned out great!
2 and 4 are amazing, but all pictures are great Mads, congratulations
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Ricardo :)
I hope you are keeping well Mads and hope you and your family have a very merry Christmas.🎄🎄🎄
Take care.🍀👌
Thank you Andy! I guess I need to ask you next time I go there :)
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts! Here's a secret... it's actually not Sophie but a random tourist ;)
Another great video Mads! I especially like the number 5 because of the leading line in the water in the foreground. Thanks for sharing!
Mads, incredibly difficult to choose but I will go with number four. I love the exploding water as it cascades through the image. Beautiful images and a stellar video.
Thank you for your thoughts Brad!
I love no 6 it shows the wildness of the area but it also bri gs a relaxed feeling
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Phillip :)
#5 - Perfect composition, light and mood
Thanks a lot Rene :)
Number 5 for me. Fantastic , I love the foreground leading up to the peak
No 4 is my favourite. The human figure just adds so much to the scale.
Thank you for your thoughts Phil :)
Love number 4 Mads. The drama and beauty of it are amazing. Another excellent video. My wife and I are planning a trip to Glencoe and Skye in February for our anniversary so the comment about booking accommodation in advance was well timed for us.
Thanks a lot! I'm not sure how bad it is for winter, but in high season it's rough :)
I like number 6 the best, although the others are stunning as well, number 6 has the most drama with the white of the water spreading out and leading you into the scene. Love your videos and looking forward to the next one.
Thanks a lot for your thoughts! That shot is growing on me too :)
All are compelling, but I prefer No. 6 for the wild, brooding mood and, compositionally speaking, the effective leading lines of white water. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much George! and thank you for your thoughts :)
Got to say number 5, it does something for me.
After 2 years this is still one of my favorite videos of yours. I love the final image and how moody it is. Kind of similar to the kind of photography that I do and love. Can’t wait till you’re able to get out again and do more videos 👍🏻
No: 4 Mads, but all brilliant you've done my homeland proud. Have'nt been following you long but I am now an avid follower.
Thank you very much Phil! Very happy to hear that! :)
3, 5 & 6 are my favourites. Another great video
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts :)
Love the light in #3 & #4 and the way the eye is drawn into the photos in #5 & #6. Beautiful!
Thanks a lot and thank you for your thoughts Nina :)
Congrats!!!!
Breathtaking views!!!
Excellent work!!!
No 4 is outstanding!
No. 6. Tremendous atmosphere.
Thank you for your thoughts Elin :)
5 has it all, the rest are just superb, exellent work Mads.
Thank you so very much Alex :)
I like number 6. It has good leading lines and I like the mood of the shot. All your images are great and I appreciate your explanations on how you compose and set-up the shots. Thanks!
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Donald :)
Photo 5 is superb, leading lines and very strong visual
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Dez! :)
Thanks a lot for this, Mads. I think no 4 is the most striking. Placing a human figure in it makes the setting more dramatic. And threatening.
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Michael! :)
It's #4 for me! Definitely a different take on a very popular photo spot. Another awesome video from beautiful Scotland!
Thank you for your thoughts Robert! I like them to be a bit original :)
Great colours on the lighthouse shots. Hard to pick a winner, but for me number 4 hits the mark. It has great texture in the water and the person on the side of the frame works well giving scale. Looking forward to part 2 Mads.
Thank you for your thoughts Paul - part 2 will be epic! :)
Another awesome video Mads. I think number 5 is my favourite. I love the portrait view and the way the image has so much depth. We visited the pools a few years ago but I never managed to find that location. You have now made me want to re visit. Please keep making these great informative videos.
Thanks a lot and thank you for the thoughts Richard :)
....i will not choose, I like them all! Absolutely cracking pictures!
