- Big squid action today, with multiple hookups, squirts and some donkey squid.
Was also fishing for King George whiting, and very happy with the results.
WA fisheries came over to investigate the squid ink on deck to find a nice haul of BIG SQUID.

You don't know how much I envy you having people actually doing that job, and effectively. Here, in my unnamed country, we supposedly have them and the same rules, but there's never anybody around. I've been out kayakking 100 times and shore fishing at least 50 in the last 2 years and not once have I even seen anyone patrolling the shore...
Yes..same here, its tuff seeing illegal stuff and wishing theyd rock up..Its upto the good law abiding fishos to give a good example or contact the authorities to follow it up.
Yeah here in WA if you pull someones pots and get caught. Your boat gets seized.

Couple of thumper squid there Dom. Wish we saw more of fisheries down my way. I've only ever seen them down here once and have seen illegal fishing practices more times than I can count.

Lots of squid to include a couple of donkeys 😀 and some nice whitings. The way the squid spit at the boat when you're bringing them in cracks me up. That bugger fish was cool. I love braid but it can be a bloody nightmare when it gets tangled up. Almost always just have to cut it once it gets knotted up. Great day on the water Dom. Those Fisheries fellows were nice enough guys.

Hi Dom, love your video's and im just starting out with a tinny and want to know why u use a small sea anchor when its calm for squid? Do u need to move slower for squid when drifting ?
Usually the drift is too fast and the jigs rise to the top..the sea anchour slows it down a bit
Gotta paint them lures with clear nail polish......last for ages.
I used too spray with acrylic..but realised the bite marks make the jig more attractive for more hits from the squids👍
Tailor should start running along the beaches soon Dom, do you target them from the beach at all? 🦈

When you drift over the weed beds do you just have the jigs sitting out in the water or are you retrieving them? Cheers mate
Goid question. I do both. As the biat drifts and rocks a bit the staionery jig will move up n down and if its down deep close to the weed, it will atrack a squid.

Just a question do you ever shore fish from Rotto? I go twice a year for a holiday and have nothing but luck, even caught a 1m reef shark which luckily I realised in time to tell my dad it's not a flathead don't de-hook by hand! It was dark.

@@FishTuckerMan Yeah that thing could do a 180 degree head turn and bite behind its tail, so picking it up wasn't an option. Had to quickly push kick it over the side, caught it off the main jetty at night.

Nice videos Dom, mate can you give me friendly advice I am new in boats I thought to start with decent dinghy. Is it better to go for dinghy like 420 or 450 with 30hp on back or just get something like halfcabin 450 up to max 500 length? Thanks mate 👍

You should keep triggerfish, they supposedly are great to eat and not fishy at all.
Oh yes , they are very good. We call them Leatherjaket fish and usually keep a few.

Hey Dom. Love your enthusiasm, but can't understand why you never put the squid out of their misery. It's a quick pinch behind they eyes and they're done... instead of slowly dying in the bucket. Hoping it happens off camera, but you see to just throw them in the bucket?

Simple paternoster with size 6 gamakatsu with a bit of red tubing. Rig 30lb for hook leader.
