The guy in the skidder that is sitting in the swamp was foolish for pulling the chevy out thru there. He intentionally drove into it rather than around it and well MIRED!!
I haven't heard a timberjack in a while, I honestly thought it was a gas engine at first. Then after hearing it again after the years most likely a 453 Detroit. Bad ass!
@@calebstevens8826 Detroit's were made by GM back then.they changed their name From General Motors Diesel to Detroit Diesel in 1965 because International and Ford didn't like the idea of a diesel named after a competitor powering their trucks. Even when called Detroit Diesel,it had GM stamped on it
Neither of them know what they were doing. The first skidder should have only backed up as much as it absolutely had to in order to get the cables to a guy on the truck to connect the two. And then as someone previously said the first skidder should have then driven away with the cables dropped until they were on firm ground and then used the winch to pull the truck in. The second guy should have done the same thing as described above instead of trying to pull both while to its belly in mud itself, but most of all he should have never been using the machine to pull them oh except maybe in an absolute last resort. Even in that case he shouldn't have been trying to jerk the cables like that, just asking for one of those cables to snap and kill one of the two of them. Taking unnecessary risks of breaking equipment or injuring people.
That is a nice skider i operated big skiders always wanted a small skider to play with do some small jobs around the farm and what not i know theas old TJ WHERE REAL LOW gravity
That guy needs to learn how to use a winch. He could have wedged his back tire in front of a tree or even in the open and winch the other one right out.
Wow... That was completely avoidable.. Why not stretch the bull line to the pickup and winch from high ground... Then the second guy could have at least learned from the first on that.. note and done the same to pull the other 2 out...
What the absolute hell using all that fancy logic and common sense..they ain't got no time fer dat lol....that will be just about enough of that...give someone a stroke...
It looks like some sort of mudding competition. The truck got stuck, so the first skidder tried to haul it out for the next contestant, but then also got stuck.

I haven't ever operated a Cat skidder before, as far as i know there's only a handfull of them in the entire country (Norway), they are probably great skidders, but so is John Deere, and Timberjack for that matter, any skidder that will do it's job is a great skidder in my opinion.
That Detroit is makin some sweet azz music👍👍
Shoulda kept the first skidder outta the hole, make the dummy in the Chevy drag that mainline to his truck, use that winch
Damn that 2 stroke Detroit Diesel sounds good!!
I hated mud season. We would usually take a couple weeks or so off after the snow went off. Spent more time doing this crap than logging.
Throaty Detroit. I love it

Imagine getting your ski suit stuck in deep mud as well as your ski pants as well!
just wondering how much experience either of those operators had in mud... I would have done it a bit differently, but what do I know...

Theres just something nostalgic about the ol jacks :) Not sure why they have like a dozen chokers on there for towing purposes though lol
Gret Thunberg does not approve lol
🤣
Logging family. Love these videos!
They dont know how to work with skidder; thats all.
That's exactly what I was going to say
That's the damn truth
the old man did..the kid..not so much..should let out line, got on firm ground and winched him...
@@windage exactly he should of released the winch off the chevy once they were on firm ground winch it in unless all he had is 30feet of cable

Damn I wanted to see the end
I recognized that Maine accent immediately. 😅
Back in 1990s we had a couple of Clark skidders logging in Humboldt CA getting protested by earth first any body relate...those were the days!!
Those were the days! Now the fires destroy the forests and the environment. Sometimes the tree huggers are wrong.
Chains make all the difference in the world!
Nope, the operator does
Lol there both cable skidders ffs!! use the dam winches!!

Lmao gave that sweet Detroit a hot supper! What a girl!👍
theres enough chokers on that to pole the the whole woods out at one time. I never run more than seven.

Why do they go to mud pie in first place. For the challenge??!!
Forest service would have shot us for tearing up the ground.

the reason i am buying a cable skidder, but its a cable skidder, so i have a winch and dont need to drive too deep and yank, i have a winch.
NAW. erosion won't happen, this soil will stay right here when it rains.
sounds like a 2 stroke Detroit.
Gerald Nordahl lotta lotta LOTTA skidders were. If it wasn't Deere, cat or cummins powered then it was almost certainly a screaming jimmy
It's ol 353 Detroit .

I would of double up four pulleys and over 60 ft of line with one truck as an achor but that way seams to work.
Double up pulleys? Do you know how much the winch can pull? The idiot in the skider should git straight on and go out until he is on good ground

their timberjacks wich is built by john deere
Timberjack was once a competitor for JD, then Deere bought Timberjack.
Matt Burkholder and then the John Deere would need help from a cat. Timberjacks were tough cookies when not owned by John Deere
