Becca: I've been attacked! Me: OMG were you attacked on your walk?! *holding my heart* Becca: *Continues to talk about Oathbringer* Me: Oh, ok! Pheeew!
I feel you on the getting hung up on obstacles. I try to go forward in spite of it but I understand that thought process as I deal with it too. I think in terms of writing you should just write what’s in your head...even if it’s not super cohesive. Writing is like a muscle so the more that you write, the more it will flow. Sometimes, things come together as you write it. That is what has worked for me at times. Happy Birthday to Curtis! 🥳🥳🥳 Well, I hope you’ve had a great day! ☺️✨✨ I love you! 🥰🥰🥰 Happy Reading! 🤓📚✨
I did quite enjoy the novella, it follows Rysn. I mainly loved it because it had lots of chiri-chiri and we get introduced to one of Rock's daughters (I'm 99% sure she's Rock's daughter, she's definitely a relative). For the bit that made you cry, I think, the words that caused that revelation (p636, being weirdly handy wavey to avoid spoilers!) made me cry. It just fit the character so much.
I've been so interested in seeing this VLOG ever since you posted your update photos on twitter! I'm only just getting into Sanderson books and boi I'm obsessed 💙 have a lovely week :)
My husband and I love the Stormlight series and he still talks about the end of Oathbringer! I did a reread of Oathbringer before Rhythm of War last year and my god it was even better then I remembered. I also think that book especially is underrated in its humor. The first 250 pages had multiple laugh out loud moments for me.
Oathbringer vs Rhythm of War kind of depends. Oathbringer is my least favorite SA because I'm not a big Dalianr fan and the Shadesmar sequence dragged. But considering you like Dalinar a lot it makes sense you like Oathbringer and that might make you like Rhythm of War less. In Dawnshard we are following Rysn and Lopen as they go to the island of Aimea (I think, it was in one of the interludes). It has a huge big scope plot element towards the end so while you don't need it before Rhythm of War, you'll definitely need it at some point. I will say that for me first half of Dawnshard dragged. Apparently I don't like travel sequences in SA. But Dawnshard has great physical disability rep!!
I prefer RoW other Oathbringer and I would also recommend reading Dawnshard and maybe finish Mistborn era one before reading RoW. It doesn't spoil something directly but there are some tie ins that are interesting 😇
It's interesting that people didn't like Rhythm of War as much as Oathbringer. Oathbringer is my least favorite in the series because I found it much slower, and Shallan really got on my nerves. Rhythm of War was my favorite book of 2020 and I found it absolutely amazing. I'm interested to see how you feel when you read it!
Please finish the rest of the Cosmere before you go read Rhythm of War. There's a LOT of easter eggs. If you want to catch them, it'll be useful to read Mistborn (era 1+2+secret history), Shadows for Silence, and Sixth of the Dusk. If I had it correctly, you've read Warbreaker and Elantris already. White Sand is less important, but there is some stuff going on with that in Rhythm of War too. Dawnshard follows Rysn and Lopen, not Navani (that's part of Rhythm of War)
you probably won't have time to read all those things, but finishing off Mistborn is kinda important. I'd say up to book 3 and then Secret History. Dawnshard, I'd recommend reading it before Rhythm of War, but the tie ins are very subtle on purpose. Brandon has said it didn't want it to be as linked to the story as he did with Edgedancer. It's really a shame you don't like novellas though. I'd say the ones that aren't Stormlight, but fall in the Cosmere are great. I have my issues with the Stormlight novellas (mostly Dawnshard tbh, because it felt like I could've written that story and that's never what a Sanderson book feels like to me). I like my seafaring stories anyways so it was still fun.
Good job you have an obsession with fantasy romance, I have Wicked Villains series to work through so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 you can fit Desperate Measures in to your tbr x
Watching you losing your mind over the ending of Oathbringer brought me much joy 😂

I have read the Promise of Fire- its spicyyyy haha, loved it though
Oh my gosh who made that Mistborn art I need it!!!!
I've been noticing that those who favor character development like Rhythm of War and those that favor plot development prefer Oathbringer.
Immediately checked the last sentence of chapter 117

OOh, Death in Her Eyes sounds interesting.
Ah Dream Theater! They're prog metal. My SO loves them a lot and I've been to so many shows along with him (metal is also not my thing lmao)
