Nice looking axe and it cuts well, I dont think my wife would take to kindly to me having an axe collection as well! Sycamore is a hard wood but easy to split. I think it burn ok as well looking forward to some more regular videos.
Looks similar to a pair of 3 1/2 lb Canadian Dandenong Kellys I have. 1 on a 28" handle and 1 on a 32" handle. Loved how the Brades easily came unstuck in that spongy timber that's the best test if it's a decent Tasmanian pattern. I'd like to try a Brades but here in NZ we got Mostly Kellys or Plumbs and the occasional Hytest. We didn't get many English Tassies I think most of them went to Australia. I've never seen an English Tassie.
@@michaelcatherwood4088 hey dude thanks for commenting, love NZ! We've got basically no tassies here at all. Very hard to get. Had to bring a pile home from NZ after my last visit!
@@walkerscountrylife thanks for the reply. Don't take too many axes home with you. Joking, most people here in NZ wouldn't know a good axe from a club. Enjoy using a quality tool. Where did you get the Brades from? It looks like a dream to use.
I have a nice axe collection. Mostly vintage American...but I do have a mint 4.5# Hytest Craftsman with factory bevel and 95% green paint intact with a spotted gum handle. As well as a 4.5# Kelly Dandenong made in England. I've always liked the look of those Brades blades...but just haven't found the right one!
Lovely axe collection u got in your shed... 🪓 I am looking for felling axe for my forestry belt scabbard, i just ordered not while ago from westcoast saw usa, just not sure what size will be best? 🤔
Nice one

Yes, been looking at BTU's, it's on the lower end of the hardwoods but higher than most softwoods.

sycamore is a hardwood. A quick google will tell you what actually makes a species hardwoord or a softwood
